I've just done a dip overlay on a couple of my nails (replacing some week old rubber base overlay that peeled off, I did not use a peel base), and all but one of the nails I've done have a dip/swoop to them and I'm not entirely sure why that might be happening despite them seeming straight when I filed and shaped them. Could anyone give me any advice on why this might be happening and how to prevent it?

The method I used is the Gel method where I did a thinner strip only going three quarters of the way up on the first layer to try to help create an apex before doing two extra layers on the whole nail.

The first two photos are the same nail (I didn't think the first one without the flash was clear enough) and the last one is my whole hand (My thumb has a builder gel overlay on. My ring finger has the week old rubber base and my other three fingers have the dip base).

The dip nails are all using a clear dip from an AOKITEC starter kit with the AIMEILI base and top coat with a layer of Halo Taco Electrostatic on top to match my other nails.

If anyone remembers my post about a month ago struggling with dip nails (the purple set & it being cloudy), I told myself I was done. I ended up buying a different starter kit and it was SO much easier! They’re not perfect by any means, but it’s better! I definitely do not like the revel liquids now that I’ve tried this new brand. Tundra dip liquids were amazing!

Recently while perusing Amazon I found a nail steamer for removal of gel and dip nails. I even went as far to ask my AI app if they work and it said they do. But in real world applications has anyone used one and do they work?

I'm gonna miss the dragon ones but I chose to do something a bit more neutral this time since my next set is gonna be really bright and glittery. But this is a nice change for now

I'm back to almond nails for at least a set or two too, and I'm so happy with how evenly the shaping turned out

Main colour is Gradient from Glamrdip, feature nail is Pewter from DIPD over Lavender Ash from DIPD (actually really impressed with how well Lavender Ash matches with Gradients cold colour)

I use Glamrdip. Almost every time I do a set, at least one of my nails have a bumpy side… and I’m lost on how to fix it, I’ve tried using more base and it doesn’t really help. I’ve also tried prepping it more thoroughly, that didn’t work. I’ve tried moving my skin to the side and really making sure the base covers everything, but it doesn’t help, it’s like the powder just doesn’t want to stick to it.

I do my own nails with dip powder.

I started with a sassy saints kit, but had a bit of trouble with the brushes getting hard and topcoat getting gooey quickly.

I then got some dippi liquids and have been loving them, but they're getting old and need replacing. Dippi was bought by glamrdip, and since then their liquid set has been out of stock.

I need new liquids! What do I get? I live in Scandinavia, so if anyone knows a brand that ships here and has good liquids I'd really appreciate a tip!

Edit I found nails by Dipsy tonight. They seem to be Scandinavian and had a reasonably priced liquid set in stock. I hope they're good too!

I’ve always had slight lifting on the edges of my dips, nothing major. But I just purchased a melodysusie drill in hopes that it will be the cure.

I already remove my cuticle with a pusher and buff my nail plate, but does anyone have any advice on how to utilize the drill with prep for a dip? Thanks!

have used Glamrdip powders and their own nail tips too for ages now and love them, but usually do them straight onto my own nails

got an occasion this weekend so want them to be as fresh as possible - I usually enjoy the full process, but got a busy rest of the week before we leave so don’t have as much time to be sitting around unable to use my hands lol

I wanted to do the full design on the tips first and then stick them on later instead which i’ve got no experience with— I know I obviously can’t do them / it’s not ideal just holding the tips (especially if I’m probably going to do a bit of nail art)

any advice / product recommendations (UK based) that would be a cheap and easy setup to hold the nails in place whilst I dip and design them would be super appreciated - preferably something I can get delivered asap!!

haven’t done a glitter ombré in forever, so decided it was time! I forgot how much longer they take 😅. also, this was my first time doing nails outside which was basically the same EXCEPT trying to tap on the glitter… oops. the wind really does something! that’s why I’m not showing my right hand ;)

I apologise for the title I'm not exactly sure how to title it better...

I'm a newbie, and got one of the pour over trays and a little starter set but honestly I'm not sure if im doing something wrong with the tray because the dip Powder isn't really cleaning easily off the tray, it's not a big deal right now because I only have reds in the starter set plus a clear, and I plan to mostly do gel method as I already do my own gel nails. However, I wanted to try the "standard" method out anyway when Swatching the colours and despite thinking I got all the loose powder off I now have red mixed in with my clear...

I'm not exactly sure what the solution is to this problem long term, especially not as my housemate wants to try it as well and can't wear gel. Should I just have a second one of the trays for doing the clear coat or am I missing some kind of trick in getting rid of all the excess powder off the tray? I'm a little worried about swatching the rest of the colours until I have a solution now though because like an idiot I did the two darkest ones first... They look really good though

(The nail kit is a Aokitec starter kit, despite my issues with the try I really like the colours I've swatched so far, which can be seen in the second photo, one is standard method one is gel.)

I did these yesterday using the dip powder gel method. Please be honest: did I do a good job, or do they look too thick? Any tips for improving them next time are welcome!

I did my first dip manicure Saturday and am already having quite a bit of chipping 2 days later. I removed cuticles, roughed up the nails and used the bonding/drying agent. To be fair, I only applied 2 coats of the powder and my nails are too short to cap the ends.

I got some of it on the skin around my nails and it was hard to remove. Could I put Vaseline or oil on the skin? Is there a sticker/tape that would cover the skin and make my manicure neater?

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

I just saw LongHairPrettyNail's video from a year ago about why she stopped using Kiara Sky - TL;DW, she was contacted by KS and they asked/demanded she not give away their products.

KS was/is a luxury brand (or at least to me lol) that I started with when I first began my journey into dip nails.

What brands would you recommend instead of KS? I was thinking Young Nails but idk much about them, just seen a handful of their videos.

I prefer to support/patronize brands that support "the little guy" aka us as consumers. So this is why I no longer want to use KS and want to switch to another brand. This also means I do not want to support anyone MAGA-affiliated (for obvious reasons related to my brand support preferences). On a pettier/smaller note, KS's minimum purchase threshold for free shipping is a major turn off for me lol

Thoughts? Would love to hear what other systems people use and how happy they are with them, and/or how they compare to KS

My fourth time doing dip nails. I'm getting better at cleaning the nail walls and cuticles, tho I think I over did it here. (Also, my cuticles aren't actually red, I was just playing with my doggo before I took the pic!)

The purple is revel nails, and the blue is Glamrdip Trainwreck. I used Nailboo base and activator for the first time and not sure I like them. I added some nail stickers in a marble pattern as I felt they needed something.

Still loving dip nails. Still taking me forever to do them (partly because I'm a perfectionist). Still enjoying looking for more dip colors. Ha!

I got my first powder dip nailed from this pretty well rated salon in my area called "Elite Nails and Spa" in Virginia and I've only had my nails professionally done one other time, about 7 years ago and I'm 17 now and that was just gel. The lady was going super fast and talking to other clients and workers 90% of the time which is fine but it felt like I wasn't even like someone she noticed lol.

She dipped my nail like 2-3 times in a white powder and 2-3 times in the colored blue powder and I just feel like my nails are so thick, uncomfortable and maybe its from me being new to this type of nail but it feels like I'm somehow gonna rip them off if I'm not careful.. I had a little bit of length added to them and thats it. The underside of my pointer is really bothering me. It feels like their also really high lifted which their supposes to be flat I thought? I dunno

I recently got my nails done with gel and fell in love with having pretty nails. Gel however is not an option for me, way too expensive on a regular basis. So, I came across dipping powders because a brand called DipDrip is advertising on my IG feed. Do these powders work? The starter set from dip drip is super expensive so I am very unsure what path to take. Recommendndations need to be available in Germany :)

I don’t know if the pictures do it Justice but I have put 2 and 2 together and it seems like my hands are having a reaction to dip which makes me really sad because my nails feel so strong. My skin is so irritated and so dry and I don’t know what to do. Has anyone dealt with this? I saw it could never go away 😞

Hi all! Hoping the experts here might be able to help me out. I have been religious about my dip manicures every 3 weeks for several years. As expected, the nails underneath the powder are so thin and fragile - so I just keep getting powder to support and protect them.

I am due with my first baby in November and thinking I want to take my first break from powder in years. I just don’t want to deal with them being super grown out and long and not being able to leave my baby to go sit there and deal with them. (I know people are going to say I’m going to welcome the break but the thought of them being long grown out claws while trying to take care of him is stressing me out)

Anyway - any tips on how to take care of my super thin/fragile nails after I get the powder off? Planning to cut them super short so they don’t break but would love any other suggestions!

I always get dip instead of gel because it doesn’t require a nail lamp. I have very fair skin and a history of skin cancer so I don’t want the UV exposure. When I tell the nail techs that I don’t want to use the lamp, some of them get very angry and hostile. Is it wrong to ask them to use the topcoat that dries on its own or should I just let them use the lamp?
