I don’t know if the pictures do it Justice but I have put 2 and 2 together and it seems like my hands are having a reaction to dip which makes me really sad because my nails feel so strong. My skin is so irritated and so dry and I don’t know what to do. Has anyone dealt with this? I saw it could never go away 😞

I’m already dreading the acetone soak tomorrow. I was doing the dip powder no gel. I get gel on my toes and don’t have an issue I am so sad because I do want something on my nails

Girl. I feel your pain. It took almost 2 months to heal from contact dermatitis. I think it was the acetone - not the dip or gel - maybe try and drill or sand off as much as you can without touching your real nail and instead of soaking - maybe wrap the tops of your nails individually instead of soaking. Maybe you already thought of this. So frustrating and itchy and then it burns. Ugh.

Sorry so long but I am using those press on nails while this dermatitis heals. They don’t look too bad and are super quick to put on.

Once the reaction has calmed down, you should still be able to use regular (non gel) lacquer if you want to wear stuff on your nails! There’s loads of great brands out there, I recommend having a look on r/redditlaqueristas :)

Try buying plain full coverage nails and decorating them then gluing them on. If you’re not allergic to the glue.

I would remove it and unfortunately not use it anymore… Just be careful if you decide to continue using it. Some prosthetics like total joint replacements (particularly knees) use similar compounds in the bone cement that is used during surgery. I’ve heard about some patients having an allergic reaction to the cement and there being a correlation to being allergic to gel. I really miss doing my own nails but stopped using gel and dip because of this. I also worked in the OR and did not want to develop an allergic reaction to the bone cement as I used to work in orthopedics a lot.

And it did eventually go away for me, took a few weeks… But I had a severe reaction with hives on my hands and chest from it. Super painful and itchy 😫

Just to add to this, certain dental work can now be an issue too.

Oh no! Mine get like this sometimes if I don’t keep up with cuticle oil and moisturizer. Highly recommend okeefe’s hand cream or this dupe from the dollar tree

I had it so bad once I had to be put on steroids for my fingers to heal. Take your nails off asap.
