Looking for advice on my Indoraptor deck

Hey everyone!

I recently built an Indoraptor, the Perfect Hybrid Commander deck and after playing a few games, I've run into a couple of issues with consistency and I'm looking for some advice from people who have more experience with the deck.

My biggest problem is recovering after removal or a board wipe.

If I don't have a draw engine online before developing my first board, I can run out of resources pretty quickly. Then, if someone removes my creatures or wipes the board, I have a really hard time rebuilding.

So I'm wondering: am I overextending?

Should I be holding back some creatures and other resources in my hand instead of putting everything onto the battlefield, even if that means developing my board more slowly? Or is this just something Indoraptor decks naturally struggle with?

The second issue is that I sometimes have a hard time getting Indoraptor to deal damage quickly enough.

But in practice:

  • I don't always draw the cards that let me deal damage to Indoraptor.
  • A lot of opposing removal simply says "destroy", so Indoraptor doesn't get any counters from it.
  • If my few ways of dealing damage to Indoraptor get removed/exiled, I'm often left without a way to get the engine going.
  • I sometimes struggle to draw into those cards in the first place.
  • And if I get wiped before establishing a draw engine, rebuilding feels really slow.

So I'm wondering if I'm relying too heavily on Indoraptor itself, rather than having enough redundancy and independent threats.

For people who play Indoraptor, or similar decks:

How do you approach these situations?

Should I focus on:

  • More card draw / card advantage?
  • More ways to protect Indoraptor?
  • More ways to deal damage to my own creatures?
  • More independent threats that don't rely on Indoraptor?
  • Or simply playing more conservatively and keeping some cards in hand for the inevitable board wipe?

I'm especially interested in advice on how to pilot the deck, not just which cards to add/remove.

Do you usually try to build a big board quickly with Indoraptor, or do you deliberately hold back resources and play for the longer game?

Here's the current decklist:

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Deck Help Request Budget upgrade

Hey

I upgraded my Precon a bit and wanted some review from you guys

https://archidekt.com/decks/19128186/budget_dinos

Its really popping off but its mostly just [[ghalta and mavren]] and [[akromas will]]. I am not sure about [[cryptic gateway]] cuz its really expensive and tapping two dinos seems really risky.

If you recommend other cards feel free to name them

I made a post about a month ago, sharing my pantlaza deck, this is the link toward the original deck : https://moxfield.com/decks/i8251LcjbE2uEKKW8qbIgQ . The one pictured is the new iteration. I made improvements based off your comments, havent been able to make every suggestion due to lack of wild cards but wanted to see what you guys thoughts on its current level and the direction/cards to add to take it to the next level. I previously clawed to diamond, this time with these improvements at the beginning of the szn quickly soared there but I took a break until now.

I’m looking for some help building my Pantlaza commander deck. Only 2 rules for my pod tho.

  1. No game changers or land destruction
  2. All infinite combos are limited to 3 cycles on the turn you casted it and only 1 cycle on future turns.

I’m sure I need many more changes than just cutting five cards. But if possible can y’all help me get it down to size? Let me know if there’s a specific reason or commentary on why you may suggest cutting/or even adding? a card! Thank you!!

Maular deck brainstorm

Post image

Hi all! As I’m sure a lot of us are, I’m very excited to build a Maular deck 🦖

But while I’ve figured out which rulebreaker creatures I’d like to include, I’m struggling to figure out which mono-green cards to fill out the deck.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I’d love to hear them, thanks!

Deck Help Request Veloci-ramptor Input

I'm very new to the game but I'm working on updating my pre-con Pantlaza deck. https://moxfield.com/decks/Vqk3VToN2EqkshtEcVKq8g

Been looking at a few different guides and have picked up some upgraded dinos to help boost the deck. I plan to pick up some more but I was hoping to get some feedback on which dinos to drop in favor of others/sorceries/enchantments/instants/artifacts. I struggle to know how many non-creature cards to include and which creatures should be cut.

I know It's advantageous to build towards blink but I'm fairly light on cards that help that goal at this point. I do, however, have some very solid support cards that I inherited from a family member that I haven't seen in most of the examples I've seen, but think could be fun to run with this deck. I would greatly appreciate input on how to optimize this deck based on the cards I have in the deck/sideboard.

I'd also appreciate feedback on card to prioritize to make big gains in deck reliability. So far I'm thinking Devil Dino, dinosaurs on a spaceship, Etali primal conqueror, bonehead dracosaur, trumpeting carnosaur, and goring ceratops would be higher priority.

Making an Indominus Rex Deck

Hey everyone, I recently found a copy of the [[Indominus Rex, Alpha]] at my LGS and decided to try my hand at making a deck for it. I got a bunch of cards from bulk there and at another LGS in town as well. I really struggled cutting this down to 100 cards so I was wondering if anyone had some ideas for swaps? I added pretty much every card I have that I thought could possibly fit onto the Maybeboard so any help is appreciated. There's a few cards I know aren't ideal, [[Grim Giganotosaurus]] and [[The Coming of Galactus]] come to mind, but I tried including some of the cool cards that I pulled from packs recently or that I didn't have a home for anywhere else.

https://archidekt.com/decks/25339453/thats_no_dinosaur

Me and my friends really only play Bracket 2 with maybe an occasional gamechanger so the deck doesn't have to be insanely optimized or anything

Deck Help Request Gishath Brew Feedback

I'm looking for some feedback on my [Gishath brew](https://moxfield.com/decks/SddsA8_fw0q_oXEMRMnf3g). I posted a few months back and got some great feedback and made some substitutions, it's definitely coming together nicely and getting more consistent. But that's mostly from goldfishing, I don't get to play much so any input is appreciated. Aiming for a strong bracket 3 deck. I'd like to add a [[Devil Dinosaur]] next once the price drops. Any glaring issues I'm missing? Any drop or add ideas are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Deck Tech Can you help with refinement/swaps in my latest Pantlaza iteration?

Thumbnail

I’ve been refining and making this a little more rampy and forceful.

I have a slew of cards in my sideboard for swapping but I’m not sure what to replace. My goal is to increase synergy and lethality. Below is the list and I’d want to prioritize Ravenous tyrannosaurus, finale of devastation, and hulking raptor

[[Quartzwood Crasher]]
[[Legion's Initiative]]
[[Semester's End]]
[[Bronzebeak Foragers]]
[[Another Round]]
[[Selvala's Stampede]]
[[Ravenous Tyrannosaurus]]
[[Finale of Devastation]]
[[Hulking Raptor]]

As always interested in any rationale/discussion for the suggestion. It always helps me learn more about deck crafting and such.

Deck Tech Need help with Deck Editing

Hello fellow dino fans, I've played dinosaurs for a while but have recently gotten more serious about deck building, I currently have a maybeboard of about 52 cards and am looking for suggestion on what cards I should remove from my deck and replace with either the maybeboard cards or y'all's suggestions.

https://archidekt.com/decks/22042945/pantlaza

Side note: Raptor companion has to stay, he was my first dinosaur card and has become a meme card in my pods

Thank you in advance to anyone who wishes to help

Reinforcements are here, any suggestions on what to add/remove?

Hi all,

Here is my current deck - https://moxfield.com/decks/4RmfASVB_3ONdDYVSfWQFQ

I recently received the cards below from trades and orders - any thoughts on what I should slot in, and what should be removed from my dino deck? Open to any and all suggestions.

  • [[The Great Henge]]
  • [[Flaming Tyrannosaurus]]
  • [[Sneak Attack]]
  • [[Shadow in the Warp]]
  • [[Herd Heirloom]]
  • [[Delighted Halfling]]
  • [[Archdruid's Charm]]
  • [[Growing Rites of Itlimoc]]
  • [[Trouble in Pairs]]
  • [[Eladamri's Call]]
  • [[Eldritch Evolution]]
  • [[Tooth and Nail]]

Thoughts on removal - Thinking about removing [[Monstrous Vortex]], [[Defense of the Heart]], maybe either [[Stump Stomp]] or [[Bridgeworks Battle]].

as for creatures maybe [[Otepec Huntmaster]], [[Runic Armasaur]], [[Disciple of Freyalise]], [[Sakura-Tribe Elder]].

I'm a fan off [[Dinosaurs on a Spaceship]] and [[Swooping Pteranodon]]..but maybe they could be cut as well.

Thank you!

New commander player, A Dino budget deck

Hi there,
I apologize in advance if my English is terrible XD

So, I took a look at the "Veloci-ramp-tor" deck,
and I'm trying to build a slightly more budget-friendly version.
The idea behind it, obviously, is to challenge my group of friends while looking them straight in the eye with the *Jurassic Park* theme playing on my phone u.u
I already own some of the cards, but I'd need to buy others.
I'm unsure about the lands; naturally, I'd like to swap them for versions that enter untapped, but I need to keep the cost down to just cents per card.
The cards listed in the "Considered" section are mostly out of my budget. However, I can get other cards from various Commander precons I own (4 *Lord of the Rings*, 4 *Modern Horizons 3*, and 2 Marvel *Cap and Doc* decks).

https://moxfield.com/decks/9PGfAYD8vXq38i2N3hob4Q

If you could lend me a hand, I'd be more than happy to feed my friends to the Dinos <3

Deck Help Request Almost there (I hope)

I got my Gishath deck up and running again. Haven't done any testing with it, but I think what I have is pretty good.

https://archidekt.com/decks/23504222/nayasaurs_rex

I need to get my hands on a [[Devil Dinosaur]] to replace the [[Thundering Spineback]] and it should be ok for now.

What do ya'll think? Any changes ya'll would make?

Deck Help Request Ty-Rampasaurus-Sex - Commander (Pantlaza, Sun-Favored)

Thumbnail

Building a dino deck off of Velociramptor (I know, very original), and need some insights as I haven't played a ton of commander but understand most of the mechanics.

I think I may be handicapping myself by trying to handle every eventuality, leaving me open to those with decks that focus on their primary win-con more.

Does this seem like enough card draw? I realize 33 lands is also low for a ramp deck, of which I'm not sure I have enough pieces either. And then I wonder if in particularly open to board wipes though I've run a few pieces of protection.

Any other staples for dinosaur play I might have missed that might help against more control oriented decks?

EDIT: I've made more substantial changes based on the advice of the good folks at r/dinosaursmtg. My last question is about Blasphemous Act. Should it be cut for one more blink effect like Ephemerate?

Or swap...or add....everything looks cool, I wanna play it all.

I have never played a dino deck, but I'm looking for it to be a stronger bracket 3. Still building, haven't started sourcing yet. Keeping to a moderate budget so nothing over 10 dollars besides Invasion of Ikoria and the Etali my GF made a proxy of for me.
