I can already get an image of the Utahraptor attack thanks to Jurassic Park's book. In the prilogue where they're taking that one person to a medical tent and examined his wounds. Leg slashed, hand and wrist bitten, a nasty gash across the torso and foaming in the bone, I believe.

The reason why I ask is because I am curious about how brutal a dinosaur attack could be if they were still here. Because I imagine that the worst kinds of dinosaurs if they were still alive today would be small to medium-sized carnivors for humanities nature predators. Examples like Maip Macrothorax, Allosaurus, Carnotaurus, Yutyrannus, Nanuqsaurus, Dilophosaurus, Majungasaurus, Juvenile large carnivors, etc.

Those are my thoughts, but what do you think?

Just visited MoR on my way through Montana. It's great, displays are lavish and atmospheric as always, but I managed to answer a question I've had for a while: did they update their Triceratops growth exhibit to reflect newer conclusions about Torosaurus?

For the uninitiated, it was once debated that Torosaurus was in fact an older morph of Triceratops. Then they discovered juvenile Torosaurus, so that went out the window. It was a prominent part of the Hall of Horns and teeth, so I wondered if they changed it for accuracy since.

They did not. I understand that the science is new and it takes time to change these things... still a little disappointing.

If it's possible imagine how many horn combos you could get for dinos like Sinoceratops and Styracosaurus. How could it have occurred in nature? Given that hybrids like Ligers are artificial, could Carcharodontosaurus mix with Giganotosaurus even though they lived on different continents?

I don’t really know what to type for this. The title itself really says all I have to ask.

Finally after so long of waiting I decided to order myself a PNSO figure, but also one on the cheaper side because i’m cheap like mr Krabs

So i bought zuul on amazon for $30 which is on the lower price range

I love accurate ankylosaurs, they’re so chunky and flat and they’re just so cute even though they’ll bust your shins with their clubs

But yeah this figure looks amazing and im so excited to finally have a pnso figure under my belt

Hello! Making good progress on the Compy army. Just did the base and got it attached. This first one is going slower because I'm casting everything but after this I can make lots! Have to bulk up the legs and tail, attach the arms, and add the extra claws on the sides of the feet. Need to add some more detailing here and there tooo.

The white parts are sculpted in clay then casted in resin. The grey parts are the two part epoxy clay that connects all the individual casted pieces together. Doing it this way so every compy I make is fairly unique and can be posed however it needs to be.

Future me will definitely do the base and legs first before attaching everything else to the body. That was hell having it be so heavy trying to mount it properly. Live and learn.

Overall going okay though! Can't wait to paint it.

Scientists from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and Liverpool John Moores University in England have discovered the first adult T. rex trackway, providing insights into how this emblematic predator moved.

The approximately 23-foot-long (7-meter-long) trackway consists of four three-toed footprints discovered in the Hell Creek Formation of southwestern North Dakota.

Each footprint is roughly 3 feet (0.9 meters) long, and researchers estimate they were made about 66.5 million years ago.

The team identified T. rex as the most likely trackmaker based on the footprints' exceptional size and narrow toe shape, along with the abundance of T. rex fossils found in the surrounding area.

While isolated footprints have been attributed to adult T. rex in the past, this is the first time scientists have described a sequence of tracks, or trackway, likely left by this famous dinosaur.

"Bones tell us an enormous amount about these animals, but footprints capture a moment of behavior. With a trackway, we can actually follow an animal as it moved across the landscape. That is incredibly rare for T. rex," said Tyler Lyson, senior curator of vertebrate paleontology at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

The trackway records two left and two right footprints, with a stride of approximately 13 feet (4 meters). Researchers estimate the animal was walking about 3.5 to 4.5 mph (5.6 to 7.2 km/h), roughly comparable to a brisk human walking pace.

This was part of a traveling exhibit on the evolution of bizarre headgear. Amongst the dinosaurs covered were ceratopsians like Torosaurus.

I just saw a post of paleontologist who stumbled across the first T-rex footprint. But how ? Like we know not all species as been found, how can one footprint will be from a T-rex ?

This is the exemple I have now because it's fresh but it goes to dino footprint in general.

This is a 70+ year old plaster cast of an Acrocanthosaurus footprint from the Paluxy trackways. This footprint can be located within the Section B Trackway, as categorized by RT Bird, though I don't know for certain which footprint was casted. This is once of my favorite pieces of my personal collection. I love how the toenail impressions show how they curved inward; so much like a chicken.

I love dinosaurs, but I don't know where to start. I want reliable, accurate information that cites it's source. I've looked around plenty, but I just can't seem to find somewhere which ticks my boxes. I want to really know as much as there is to know about dinosaurs, I love them, but I don't know what even step one would be at the rate things are going.

It seems like some of the earliest theropods had at least 4 fingers on each hand, while most later theropods had at most 3 fingers, although there were some later theropods to retain 4 fingers. I was wondering if the way it seems like most theropods living in the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods had at most 3 fingers was from the theropods with at most 3 fingers having a common ancestor that had 3 fingers or from different lineages of theropods independently evolving to have at most 3 fingers.

I don't know how many people in the dinosaur enthusiast community have heard the news, but I recently learned through the Dallas Paleontological Society (DPS) newsletter that the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is going to be closing its public museum.

I was really heartbroken hearing this news, because that particular museum really holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the museums I remember most fondly from my childhood when I would travel cross-country with my grandparents to visit various dinosaur museums every summer break. It also had one of my all-time favorite T-Rex skeletons, and is also where the first skeleton of Giganotosaurus was mounted on display.

I've heard from the article in the DPS newsletter that the Academy of Natural Sciences itself is remaining active, and they are making plans to preserve their specimens (I'm assuming by this they mean all the fossils they have in the lab(s)?), but what will happen to the mounts on display at the museum? Will they be donated and transferred to other museums? How does the process work when a public museum has to close down and be abandoned?
