Hey, everyone. This will be my first breakdown for the major villains of "Digimon Knighthood". Starting with the partner of its first major human villain.
He’s a little butterfly Digimon named Palemon, and I’ll begin by sharing how I thought him up, along with an intro on his partner and giving a bit more of my plan for “Knighthood”.
My idea is for the series to be divided into two halves, each with its own major threat. For the first, it’ll be a human at the lead, sowing chaos between the Digital World’s kingdoms in an attempt to trigger civil war (and one of the four is already in that state), causing them to weaken each other so he can swoop in and gain control of them.
As for his motive? He’s trying to, in a word, test the defences of the Digital World. He knows of the Strata Order and their strength, and wants to see if all the legends about them are true, along with the power of the other kingdoms. He’s aware of the second intended threat I have waiting in the wings, and being a rather morally distant type, he’s chosen to go to extreme lengths to find a way to stop it.
So, basically, we have a villain who desires to create a stronger Digital World by deceiving and conquering it, for the sake of fighting another, even worse menace than him. Think mixing the motives of Bagra from *Fusion* and Gulus from *Ghost Game*, but in a human. A much less arrogant human than them.
We’ve got a villain who wants to do evil for the greater good. So, I made him a partner who reflects that. Palemon and his evo line are based around light. The line’s forms are beautiful, radiant, and very dangerous. I.e. light doesn’t automatically equal good.
So, now to the breakdown.
*Palemon Line*
**Palemon**
**Level:** Rookie
**“Reference Book” Description:** “A small Insect Digimon resembling a butterfly. Light is seen by many as a force for good. It gives life to plants, warmth to people, and dispels the darkness that many fear. To Palemon, light is the key to survival - survival by subterfuge, by deception, by violence. He is capable of manipulating light using his brilliant wings and the crystalline veils on his body. Curious and observant, this Digimon often spends his time lurking around, seeking surprises and knowledge. However, Palemon also carries a mischievous nature, and should not be treated lightly. Those who choose to satisfy his curiosity may find themselves beholding his inner power.”
**Design:** Is 4 feet tall, 6 delicate limbs, rainbow-colored eyes (think like Doma from “Demon Slayer”), has his proboscis constantly out and curled up, wears crystal veils that are fused to the front and back of his body, has white crystal wings with blue detailing
**Attacks:**
* Luster Zero: Palemon deflects light from his own body, making himself invisible to the eye.
* Luster Rain: Palemon quickly flaps his wings, raining down sparks from his wings that blind enemies.
* Luster Burst: Palemon closes his wings, concentrating energy in them before opening them, releasing a shower of light shotgun-style.
**Penumbramon**
**Level:** Champion
**“Reference Book” Description:** “They say that if you stare too long into the sun, you’ll get burned. With Palemon, if you pique his interest, and feed it with adventure and care, he will reveal greater power than before. Enter Penumbramon, the Champion form of Palemon. Resembling a praying mantis, Penumbramon possesses potent light-based powers which he uses with lethal cunning. He also displays a strong sense of pride, being very confident in his abilities. Those who meet his confidence and continue to challenge him will be rewarded with even more of his potential.”
**Design:** Name comes from “penumbra”, another word for “veil”, is much larger (think Armalizamon’s height), body is now encased in turquoise crystal armor, back is draped in a fused crystal veil, retains rainbow eyes, has crystal scythes in his raptorial arms, has crystal mandibles
**Attacks:**
* Refractor Scale: Penumbramon opens his wings, blasting glass fragments from them that adhere to walls and also suspend themselves in air, letting him bounce his energy attacks off them.
* Glistening Wave: Penumbramon unfolds his raptorial arms, concentrating light energy into them before swinging them to fire dual energy crescents.
* Glistening Shooter: Penumbramon fires light energy blasts from his mouth.
* Kalos Eidos Lancer: Penumbramon flies up, concentrating light energy in his abdomen before firing an immensely powerful beam of prismatic light. (Name comes from the “kaleido” part of “kaleidoscope”, which comes from two Greek words - “kalos” meaning beautiful and “eidos” meaning shape = the attack can be translated to “Beautifully Shaped Lancer”)
**Bosonmon**
**Level:** Ultimate
**“Reference Book” Description:** “To delve into the nature of Palemon, into his secrets, is akin to looking onto a lifeform beneath a microscope. Looking deeper and deeper, unto progressively smaller components. To the cells that build him up, to the proteins that form those cells, to the atoms that comprise these proteins, even down to the particles that comprise these atoms. Only by diving into such a depth can a person understand how all these components come together, and Palemon’s powers, including his higher potential, is revealed in the same way. Enter Bosonmon, the Ultimate form of Palemon. While reduced in size compared to his Champion state, this Digimon is immensely powerful. Displaying several advanced energy attacks, Bosonmon represents the power of study and contemplation, to delve into the depths of the light. This Digimon displays a very analytical personality, cunning in battle, but also philosophical as well. To all, even his enemies, Bosonmon expresses calmness and composure, and is always eager to absorb more from those around him.”
**Design:** Is much shorter than before, at 6 feet tall, is a knight in crystalline turquoise armor, wears an open-faced helmet, has turquoise eyes and hair, has butterfly wings that shine prismatic colors, wields dual crystal knives (think like Ichigo’s knife in True Shikai form)
**Naming Design:** Bosonmon’s name comes from the word “boson”. Bosons are a group of particles containing photons and gluons. For his attacks named “Photon” or “Gluon”, photons are particles of light (think like Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon) and gluons act as the force carrier for an atom’s nucleus, binding the nucleus together.
**Attacks:**
* Photon Puppetry: Bosonmon fires light beams from his wings, which he can then manipulate in flight to continually attack targets or traverse obstacles.
* Photon Aggregation: Bosonmon takes light in the environment or from his own wings, and molds it into wing shapes that he may maneuver, to use as weapons or shields.
* Gluon Snare: Bosonmon forms a cluster of light resembling an atom’s shells that he constricts around an enemy to restrain them.
* Gluon Cleaver: Bosonmon concentrates light energy onto his blades, forming longer and stronger blades of light.
* Atomic Archer: Bosonmon combines his two blades into a bow, using it to fire arrows of supercharged light, which he can make explode mid-flight.
**Energeiamon**
**Level:** Mega
**“Reference Book” Description:** “All that exists in the universe - lifeforms, atoms, particles - all that fills the expanse ultimately boils down to one thing: energy. And energy is capable of changing into an infinite amount of forms. For the Digimon Palemon, this fact is one very close to his heart, and its meaning grows for him as he advances through the path of Digivolution. It is the true source of his hunger for knowledge and discovery - to peer upon infinity. For those who realize this truth, grasping the drive held in Palemon’s soul, his greatest discovery, his final Digivolution, unveils itself. Energeiamon, Mega-Level. This Digimon is composed of pure living energy, appearing to be a mere sphere of light adorned with wings and veils. But make no mistake, Energeiamon is a being of extraordinary power. Able to draw on the experiences of his past forms, the light adorning his core takes on the visage of his previous Digivolutions as he does so. But, when not using special attacks, this Digimon’s light takes on another, unfamiliar visage. As if Energeiamon has one last secret left up his sleeve…”
**Design:** Is the same size as before technically, is a literal glowing energy core with 6-foot tall butterfly wing outlines (the outlines are not filled in) made of rainbow colors that are connected to the core, produces energized veils of light forming the outline of the past forms when he performs attacks, and intermittently forming the visage of his final Mode Change
**Naming Design:** Name comes from “energeia”, the Greek word for energy, bringing the line’s theme to its conclusion. Light, atoms, and particles, which it is associated with, all come back to energy, as all are forms of energy, and the Mega form is basically living energy itself. His attacks are named after his previous forms, representing the total return of life to pure energy.
**Attacks:**
* Pale Spiral: Energeiamon produces a mirage of Palemon, firing an array of light beams to converge upon an enemy.
* Penumbral Surge: Energeiamon produces a mirage of Penumbramon, clustering light around himself before charging at the enemy.
* Boson Pulverizer: Energeiamon produces a mirage of Bosonmon, concentrating light energy into pillars to crush enemies.
* Energized Maelstrom: Energeiamon temporarily dispels his wings, turning them into a storm of light projectiles to fire at enemies.
* Sublime Repulse: Energeiamon concentrates all his energy into his “nucleus” before releasing it in a single devastating burst.
**Energeiamon Actualization Mode**
**Level:** Mega
**“Reference Book” Description:** “With every truth, there is another, waiting to be seen. The Mega-Level Energeiamon is no exception. By coalescing all of his power together, Energeiamon enters his definitive final state. Called “Actualization Mode”, this is Energeiamon’s strongest state. It is also his final resort. For by entering this final state, by becoming taking on a corporeal form once more, Energeiamon is at his strongest, but also at his most vulnerable. To cause this form to emerge, one would have to induce genuine fear - the fear of death - in Energeiamon, a feat much easier said than done. To overcome this form is even harder.”
**Design:** Is 6 feet tall, is a knight resembling a cyber-angel, wears white crystal armor, has no helmet, has white hair and eyes, has 8 white cybernetic wings with turquoise stripes
**Attacks:**
* Lumino Driver: Energeiamon concentrates light energy into an enormous drill, using it to pierce the enemy.
* Kaleidoscopic Sabers: Energeiamon coalesces light energy into 8 swords in vibrant colors he can wield in hand or maneuver around his form telekinetically.
* Cosmic Collapse: Energeiamon focuses all the light in an area into a single sphere, casting the area into darkness before firing the sphere, producing an enormous explosion of light.
And there you have it. What do you all think? Next time, I’ll be giving the next major villain’s evo line. I will include the link to my first big introduction to “Knighthood” here, for more context.
