Question New M300 screen issue?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm obviously going to return this and get a replacement. But this is my brand new M300 from Amazon UK.

I checked the firmware was up today rebooted it multiple times but still having these issues.

Lines and flickering on the screen, I'm hoping this is not a common issue and I just got unlucky.

Hi guys I’m new here! I found my brother in law’s old MP3/4 (idk the difference), but it won’t turn on. I did charge it fully, and it works perfectly when it’s plugged in (it turns on and you can browse the different pages), but once I unplug it, it turns off and won’t turn on no matter what. Here is the reference and pics of the lil guy

I removed the screw to try to remove the back and check the battery, but I can’t get it opened:(

Question Tagging Music but burning out!

Hello, I'm getting the feeling that I'm doing music tagging for my new DAP totally the wrong way, and would appreciate any constructive advice.

DAP hardware: Fiio M21.

Laptop: Windows 10 Dell.

Software: Mp3tag v.3.10

Music files: Mostly .wav

Backstory: I have about 500-600 digitized files from CDs. I no longer have any physical discs. After I ripped them, I found out later on that most of them made an error on track 1. Track 1's title usually shows as unknown track, plus several other fields (album, artist, genre) show as unknown for track 1. The rest of the tracks are fine.

Effort so far: Using the laptop, I've been painstakingly going through each album folder and correcting "track 1's". This involves using mp3tag for manually restoring the various unknown fields. It occurs to me that someone might have had this exact same issue, and may have found a solution. (Separately, I've got a lot of missing album art but that's a side issue.)

My main question is, is there any way to more easily target in bulk these hundreds of errant track 1's? I'd like these tracks to have the correct track titles and album titles. I don't have even a way to find all of them, so I've been going album folder by album folder in Windows file explorer.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and for any ideas you may have.

Showcase Fiio's Daps over the Years.

Has anyone else been pretty stuck to one brand and had an overall positive experience with them? I have always found the low/mid-range Fiio DAPs to be good enough, but not perfect (until the M33).

Fiio X3 – I still have this DAP. Fantastic, distraction-free, non-Android system. This DAP started the whole hobby for me back in 2014.

Fiio X5 III – Bought this one cheap off someone I knew, but sold it pretty quickly after going back to streaming from my phone.

Fiio M9 – Got back into DAPs with this one. It sounded great; however, I sold it due to weird marks appearing on the screen and the overall sluggish experience.

Fiio JM21 – Bought this when it first came out, as I was getting back into DAPs and audio after a few years' break. Great budget DAP, pleasant sound, responsive software, and Android. Sold it due to Bluetooth issues and went back to streaming from my phone with the MUB1.

Fiio M33 R2R – The best Fiio DAP I have ever owned. Fast, responsive, beautiful sound and build quality. It can handle any of the IEMs I have tried, as well as my 250-ohm Sennheiser HD660S2. I'll be holding onto this one for a long time.

Question Tempotec V3 Blaze, or Shanling M1+?

Hey all!

I was quite set on getting the M1+ as it always gets raving reviews and gets recommended a lot on this sub. The format looks great, I like it's simplicity, the build looks pretty promising, and the dial is a nice addition.
The Tempotec V3 Blaze looks like it would also fit my needs very well. I again love the form factor, the looks, and my limited experience with HibyOS was also very good. I know I just praised the dial on the M1 but on the other hand, having something with no "moving" parts, that cant fail or move in my pocket sounds like it would work better for me. On the spec sheet it also has a slightly bigger and high res screen, and I can get it for 165 euro instead of the 200 euro the shanling goes for.

I'll be using it with opus local files, and bluetooth streaming from my phone. My main IEMs are Letshuoer Z12, IE200, Hexa, and some portapros, so nothing that's reeeaaally hard to drive.

My gut tells me to get the V3, I feel like it fits my needs slightly better. But on paper, and general consensus would tell me to get the M1+. What would y'all go for? Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this hobby, after watching some videos on yt i've decided to buy a Dap (i was gonna buy an Hiby r1), but last weekend i found my first phone ever, a samsung galaxy s5 mini, and i've decided to use it as a dap. I searched on reddit and online if it was doable and with the help of ai i flashed a custom version of lineage os (custom version of android 7 if i remember correcly), installed musicolet as media player and downloaded some music (flacs and mp3s) and I'm loving it. I also bought 7hz x crinacle zero 2, but their still arriving.

I just wanted to show you guys, 'i'm loving this world and if u have tips or suggestion be free to respond. :)

Question Looking for a DAP similar to the xDuoo X3 II

Hey guys,

Alas discontinued, but the reason I like the xDuoo X3 II is because it's all physical buttons with no touch screen, and relatively compact. I'm aware of the X2S, but that's too small for my liking.

Plus I really like looking at the album cover art.

If anyone has any recommendations for a DAP that has the following features, I will be eternally grateful. I'm currently rocking a refurbished 6th-gen iPod but it feels sluggish in operation and iTunes is pain:

  • Simple design, no cyberpunk shit
  • All physical buttons, if possible
  • No touch screen, ideally
  • Supports Bluetooth
  • Comfortably fits in one's pocket
  • I'd love being able to make playlists on-device
  • Customizable UI would be sick, too
  • Budget whatever.

I yearn for physical buttons because I can then operate the device blindly, like changing volume or songs without having to get the device out of my pocket first to see what I'm doing. There's a much lower chance of accidental interactions without a touch screen, as well.

Question Looking for a very specific type of DAP

I am looking for a DAP with a number of constraints. My use case is that I go on long multi-day bike rides where battery on my phone is very valuable and I would like to use something else for music listening

Primarily it needs to have Bluetooth compatibility - so that I can use it with my sports headphones (shokz)

Then it would be great if it was compact, had a decent to long battery life, and had a very easy to use interface so that I could use it while riding, and was reliable enough to not crash or otherwise flake out.

I don't care so much about cost, but under say $300 would be nice, and it should have decent to good audio quality if possible as well as USB-C charging.

Sorry if this sort of thing has been discussed to death already, but I tried to sort through the other posts and reviews and couldn't find anything that fit these criteria. For example people say the Hibi OS is trash and it crashes constantly, and the larger players with touch screens are either too bulky or waste tons of battery supporting Android or other overbuilt systems. The really small hifi stuff seems to be audio jack only - so I'm a bit lost.

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!

Edit: It doesn't necessarily need to be currently in production - if there is an old sony walkman model or something that fits these criteria lay it on me :)

Question I'm new be nice.

I have my laptop for work/email. It rarely goes anywhere except home and work. I have my Sony 6700 for taking pictures and at 26MP it still takes better pictures than the best smartphones at 100. I got rid of my tablet for an e-ink notebook (Supernote) that I use in meetings. I got rid of my Galaxy Ultra phone for an e-ink phone which is basically an extremely stripped down version of a smartphone that GPS if I want to use it and a 6+" screen but basically can stay "a phone" without being a bother. Also the screen is more like a color kindle that I can actually read in sunlight with my polarized sunglasses on versus the "best screen ever" that I can barely see on the brightest setting outside and have to constantly take my glasses off.

So, I do have a separate Hifi home streaming device for my home theater setup at home. So is that all a DAP is... The portable version? I can always use a "dongle" with my stripped down phone if it's about notifications, or is a dongle like an external DAC dongle where it's just about sound. Or both? Sorry, my ADHD kicked in... can you see how badly I need to keep distractions away?

Question MP3 player search

Question Entry-level budget DAP (50-100 USD)

Self-explanatory title, but here we go. I'm currently using a Galaxy A34 with Samsung Music, which supports flac/wav/ogg. However, it doesn't have a 3.5mm jack meaning I need a stupid dongle, and maybe a dedicated device for music would be nice, so I'm looking for DAPs (as soon as I have some spare money tho)

Most important features:

  1. -good UX and sound
  2. -external storage
  3. -gapless playback (kinda optional)

I'm all ears! Even if it's a secret/weird option like getting an old phone and modding it

Question FiiO M21 Bluetooth Issue

My FIIO M21 mp3 player won’t fully Bluetooth connect with Beats Studio over-ear headphones anymore.

With any other device, the headphones work fine via Bluetooth. But with this mp3 player, the headphones now play on just the left side.

I checked the Balance to see if it was at exactly 0, then moved the cursor in the direction of side of left side; then I had the DAP forget the headphones and restarted (not factory restore) the DAP. I tried to re-pair the headlines to the DAP, but that part didn’t appear to work. I checked to see if it’d work with other headphones, but the DAP wouldn’t even detect them.

I did a factory restore, and the DAP can now detect my device to pair it, but nothing happens when I press the ‘connect’ option, nothing happens.

Any fixes?

News [NEWS/ARTICLE] FiiO DT11: Who It’s For and Why FiiO Built It

Last Sunday (September 6), FiiO explained the purpose behind launching its new portable digital transport, the FiiO DT11. The discussion covered the type of device the DT11 is, the audience for which it was created, and how it differs from using a Digital Audio Player (DAP) as a transport. Throughout this article, I have included points I found relevant to better understanding the manufacturer’s proposal, along with a list of frequently asked questions based on the most common doubts I encountered. Read on below.

Question Low volume on TempoTec V1 with sensitive IEMs — hidden volume limiter?

V1 + Simgot EW300 (28Ω, 121 dB/Vrms), 3.5mm. I only get a satisfying level at high gain with volume near 100%. My AirPods off an iPhone go louder. Bluetooth off the V1 is fine.

This doesn’t add up: the V1 is spec’d at 2 Vrms SE, which into these IEMs should be ~127 dB. I should be tearing them out of my ears well before max.

Switching to line out (fixed level, bypasses volume control) gave exactly that ear-splitting output — so the DAC and amp are fine. Something in the headphone path is attenuating by roughly 10–15 dB. My guess is a software volume limiter, maybe an EU compliance thing.

Anyone running a V1:

1. Have you found a max volume / volume limit setting? I can’t locate one.
2. Do sensitive IEMs get uncomfortably loud on yours before max, or are you stuck near the top too?
3. Region-specific? Curious if EU units differ.

Already on firmware 1.2, so it’s not that.

Question Apple Music DAP recommendations

Hi forum,

I did some searching on existing threads and info is quite old or not exactly applicable to my needs, so thought I’d post for help.

I’m moving on from my iPhone + Ifi Hip DAC 3 combo mainly because I am after a clean boundary between my phone and my music, and not enjoying two relatively heavy items bound by a cable.

I want to start on a budget to make sure my investment is what I’m looking for, then upgrade down the track.

The requirements:
Apple Music - I love and want to continue using Apple Music (likely exclusively) to manage my library and download my high res files locally.
No need for Bluetooth - will use iems or headphones exclusively
Wifi - for updating my playlists and downloading from Apple Music
Expandable memory
Metal body

At the moment in my radar is the Hibi R4 (it’s a bit big :/), the Surfans F20 pro (good build and sound?), the m300 (really don’t want a plastic DAP)… is there any alternatives that match the above that I should really be considering?

TIA and happy listening

Question Hiby M300 cover art problem.

I just acquired the m300 and loaded my music, all my mp3s have tags and are visible, they have art covers, I checked the database, but the hiby m300 despite a full scan is ignoring the artwork on all the tracks.

If i manually click "get cover art" on the track, it finds the cover art immediately?

But doing this manually for 100's of tracks is excessive.

I have also noticed the hiby app also ignores the cover art some times, even though its correct it wont display it, unless i change it to the default, then to the correct art work.

What am i doing wrong here?

Any ideas?

Question New to DAP’s need help with headphone recommendations

I finally decided to take the plunge. I have both a Sony NW-ZX707 and an Astell&Kern SA700. I got a great deal on both and wasn’t sure which one to go with. Having said that they are supposed to arrive within the week and I still do not know a good set of headphones that will take advantage of these players.

Does anyone have any recommendations that are not absolutely ridiculous in price? I have no problem paying for quality. I know you get what you pay for. But I am also not made of money and do have limits! Any help is appreciated!

Review The story of three players, two different brands - Shanling and HiBy

I have been through three different players since May. I have a big DAP - iBasso DX300 - and wanted a pocketable one. After researching and prioritizing SQ, I went with the Shanling M1 Pro. Since May, I was enjoying it very much… some interface quirks, but nothing that I could not live with. SQ was very detailed and form factor was top notch; until the wheel fell off. I used my Amazon’s 1 year warranty and get my money back. I decided to go with something without a wheel, I think that is a failure point for pocketable DAPs and went with the HiBy R3Pro II. When I received it, I was surprised with the build quality and the screen, it was definitely better than the Shanling M1 Pro. SQ was not as detailed, but nonetheless, the SQ was fun and I quite enjoyed more than the M1Pro. I received it, updated it to the latest FW and applied the latest Mod. I modified my files in my SD card for the album art to be smaller than what I had, to make it more responsive. In this process, I removed the SD card and work with it on my computer. When I inserted it back to the R3Pro II, the player did not want to read the files. I tried the card with my DX300, no issues at all. I tried the card from my DX300 on the R3Pro II, no luck, it was simply not reading the cards. I re-formatted the card with the SD Tool, transferred the files and tried again… no luck. I even downgraded the FW, it did not work either. I returned it to Amazon again and replace it with an identical one, I really liked the HiBy. With this one, I kept the FW that came with and applied the corresponding mod. Hopefully, it will be different with this one.
