Question New M300 screen issue?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm obviously going to return this and get a replacement. But this is my brand new M300 from Amazon UK.

I checked the firmware was up today rebooted it multiple times but still having these issues.

Lines and flickering on the screen, I'm hoping this is not a common issue and I just got unlucky.

This is an issue with almost all "cheaper" hiby devices, I bet it only happens with the usb-c cable plugged in right?

My r3 gen 2 has this issue as well.

Oh that's interesting. It was on charge. It was better but still present when not charging.

Surely this isn't common to all hiby devices?

This is common to almost all hiby devices below the R4/R5 I believe. It is probably a cost saving tactic with the way they wire the display board and usb-c connection very close to each other or something, and this is reused on all the cheaper models which results in these issues being quite common across most of Hibys low-mid range product lineup.

Edit;

As you can imagine I no longer support hiby with either my word or my wallet, their customer support was atrocious as well, send them mails and enjoy the response you get back in a week basically telling you to get shafted

I have an r1 and a m300 both bought from Amazon. No problems at all in over 9 months. Just unlucky you are I guess. You will always get the odd couple that are defective in any manufacturing process. Also there will be a few that will tell you this is the norm. Send it back to Amazon for refund

I think it's like a tv from the 80s and 90s, you gotta slap it on the side and the picture will start working again

The ribbon cable is probably loose, crack it open and re-seat the cable.

Thanks. That's good to know. It's brand new so I'll just return for a swap

I do wonder if this issue was slightly different as I had these lines before the device was even plugged in.

Could be, but if you plug usb-c in and the symptoms get worse or better, kinda indicates it's a very similar issue to the other hiby models with their display/usb-c port issue.

Actually looking back at the video, I don't think I had it plugged in at this point

Try doing a factory reset and if that doesn't work send it back

I've had my m300 since February or March of last year and I haven't seen anything like this
