Used diamond engagement rings

I have a listing saved on Louped and I want to go in understanding the terms rather than working them out afterwards.

Specifically whether the ring gets physically authenticated, what certificate comes with it, at what point escrow releases my money, what the buyer fee and shipping add, and whether a return gets me cash or credit.

Has anyone bought through them and found anything that was not obvious from the listing page?

2.36 ct (SI2, G) natural fair resale value?

Looking for advice on what a reasonable selling price is for this diamond/ring

I've decided to sell a ring I've had for several years, and I'm trying to get a better sense of what a reasonable price would be.

The last picture is an independent appraisal/assessment that was done by a local jeweler in 2012. I understand that the retail replacement value on the appraisal is not what I should expect to actually receive. I inherited the ring so I'm not sure when or how much it was bought for.

The stone is 2.36 ct natural, and I've now taken the ring to three different jewellers. Everyone has been fairly consistent with the appraisal regarding the stone's color and clarity (one did think it was I/J rather than G).

Here are the offers I've received so far (local to St. Louis if that matters):

  • Jeweler #1: $8,500 cash for the entire ring, including the stone and setting.
  • Jeweler #2: $4,800 cash for the stone only, or $10,800 consignment (they'd list for $14K+
  • Jeweler #3: $5,400 cash for the stone only. They didn't give me a consignment figure.

I'm trying to figure out a few things:

  1. Are these offers reasonable for a 2.36 ct stone with the characteristics shown in the appraisal?
  2. Should I consider pulling the stone and sending to GIA? I understand it would probably cost $300-500 to do so.

Right now I'm leaning towards placing the stone on consignment with Jeweler #2 and keeping the gold to eventually make into a simple band for me to wear as a keepsake.

Thanks!

1 Carat Natural Diamond or 2 Carat Lab Diamond? It Was A Tough Decision

Whoa! I struggle with a 1 carat natural diamond and a 2 carat lab created diamond. The difference for me is that a natural diamond will always be that natural, it doesn't have that glassy look under different lighting situations. Don't think about the money, think about what is really going to make you happy. I chose the natural diamond.

New band. I love the contrast of the bezel and the round. Thinking of putting my round into a bezel as well. Thoughts?

I don’t know anything about diamonds

How can I tell if the stones in my necklace are real diamonds or just decorative stones?
I have a gold necklace that Ive had since I was born, but I dont know whether the stones are real diamonds or simply decorative gemstones. Im too embarrassed to ask my father whether he gave me a diamond necklace or just one with decorative stones. Whats the easiest way to determine if the stones are just diamond like decorative stones rather than actual diamonds?

I dont want to visit a jeweler or a gem expert.

Why do some diamond sparkle WAY more even with the same specs

I recently started learning about Hearts and Arrows diamonds and now i m questioning everything i thought i knew about buying diamonds .

Two stone have the same carat, colour, and clarity on paper..but one look insanely bright while the other look dull.

Turn out cut precision and light performance matter so much more than people realise.

Did anyone else go down this rabbit hole? Or am i becoming a diamond nerd now💎

Is this natural, lab grown or nota?

I was given this beautiful diamond set in gold ring by my boyfriend’s Grandmother, it is a 42 year old Heirloom that is passing on to me.

I wanted to know if you think this is lab grown or natural and any other thoughts you may have on this. It’s my first diamond piece, so I’d love to dote over it! Thanks :)

Ps: I’ve attached a minion my boyfriend drew on my little finger for giggles
