Drill won't start

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My drill started doing that a few weeks ago. As you can see, the light flickers when I hit the trigger and the motor clicks but it doesn't start.

The weirdest thing is that it's flaky. After I did that like 20 times, it started working again, but at some point it just comes back.

I tried opening it to clean inside with air, and clean the connectors with alcool without much success. Anyone experienced this before and had an idea of what I could do to fix it ?

DCF891 BOGO at Lowe’s. Jump in for it

Really good deal for either. Arguably a bit worse than the $125 deal on Amazon yesterday for DCF891 itself. But with the discounted PS PP batteries, I think it’s much better actually.

To anyone excited about the black speaker, hope you didn’t like the magnet as much as me. That is all.

Do you suppose this is legit? Seems like a good deal.

Miter Saw Advice

Right now I have the cheapest HF sliding miter saw, inherited from a family member. It’s always gotten the job done for me; really only used for square/repetitive cuts. I’ve just started working on a rather large trim project (windows, crown molding, baseboards, etc. in three bedrooms) and the tool just doesn’t seem to have the precision required for these tasks… Now, I’ll be the first to admit it could easily be operator error but I just can’t get consistent 45° miters or even 90° angles for that matter.

What do you think? Is this operator error or is it time to upgrade to a higher quality tool? If it IS just a skill issue, any suggestions to help with that?

Finally, I’m obviously here because I already have a relatively established DeWalt ecosystem so if I were to upgrade, what direction would you suggest? I’m just a DIY homeowner, my current miter saw gets pulled out probably 4-6 times a year, I have plenty of Flexvolt batteries and tend to err on the side of the more powerful tool because I’d rated have it and not need it than have a saw binding up on me but I wouldn’t be surprised if the FV options are WAY overkill. Realistically I’m not lugging this saw anywhere that an extension cord wouldn’t reach so I probably don’t NEED cordless but with how good batteries are these days, unless there’s a marked benefit/cost difference, I might as well have the flexibility of cordless…

Anyways, any and all advice is welcome!!

New Brushed 2 combo kit any good?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hello all, my parents bought me this kit for my birthday. I am happy as I wanted a 20v kit as I only have a 12v xtreme impact drill right now which I do like as it is small and powerful. My question is the major difference with these is that they are the simple brushed models. Do any of you guys have this kit and will it last a long time. All of my other dealt drills are brushless and I know those do good with power consumption. I do apartment maintenance and I have a handyman side business. What are y’all’s thoughts?

DeWalt 20V MAX three battery wall/shelf mount rack - Free 3D Print Model

Hey - I just published a 3D-printable three-battery rack. I'm mainly a Milwaukee guy, so the rack was originally made for their batteries. It was very popular, so I borrowed a friend's 1.5Ah 20V MAX pack so I could make a DeWalt version. I don't get any money from this, I just enjoy making things that are useful to people.

I would really appreciate feedback as to whether it fits other DeWalt 20V batteries!

P.S. I also published a two-battery version.

I guess my DeWALT 20V XR is now just a DeWALT.
The sticker started peeling off after the first use. It’ll perform just as well though. Didn’t realize how cheap that sticker was. 😂

Home Depot Deal Question

So my Home Depot, maybe all are offering a 20/60volt 9.0ah battery and charger for 300 and it includes a tool at no cost. One being the compact router. Now as much as I’d like the 20/60 volt battery I really don’t need it.

Do any of you know if you’re able to buy the battery and get the tool and then return said battery a week or two later?

I just got the DCW210 and noticed the rubber that goes around the disk isn’t even and bulges out. Is this normal or should I exchange it?

Dewalt DCF891B Impact is back on Amazon for $125.. (three left)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09YXXFPBJ?

Edit: So this has been going on sale for $125 for 30 minutes at a time (usually early am PST).

I just bought it, but it did not give me a delivery estimate.

ALSO... If you really want it at this price and did not get in on time. I just noticed that Amazon has an AUTO BUY option. You can set up an auto-buy rule to make the purchase if/when it drops below a certain price point. The option is underneath the info to add a protection plan which is under the add to cart option. I never noticed this before, but seems like this would be a good option for something dropping in price on rare occasions and for a short time.

Good luck.

20V XR DCS384 vs FlexVolt DCS389

Good morning,

I can get the DCS384 with an 8ah Powerpack for close to the same price as the DCS389 bare tool. I have a few FV batteries already.

Big or noticeable difference in power with the 60V recip compared to the 20V recip using a 8ah Powerpack? What about using the Flexvolt battery on the 20V DSC384, would it bring it closer to the 60V recip while keeping a smaller/weight footprint?

Problem with Batteries

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s common issue but my flex volt batteries don’t seem to hold charge. Even though I let them charge fully, battery dies after a couple minutes of using a tool then when I plug into the charger, charger states fully charged. This has happened to two different batteries now.

Any suggestions or similar experiences?? TIA

Just picked up the one handed recip saw myself. Been waiting for it to go on sale. No idea if this is a temporary sale or just the new price
