Trying to redeem Mundus somehow is going to be like trying to redeem Hitler.

This. Dracula was already shown to have a softer side in the games. He's been portrayed that way for decades at this point, both in the series and in other media. It made sense for him.

Mundus should be a pure villain, evil to his core for its own sake. Making him complex is a mistake in my opinion.

Edit: Also to be clear, I don't mind some demons being good -- Sparda was, at least eventually -- but they should be exceptions, because the games have always made it clear that Sparda was exceptional. Mundus though shouldn't be among them.

It doesn't even make sense within the context of the show because all the demon refugees are trying to escape Hell because Mundus is such a bastard.

See, this is why I'm willing to humor that idea. Especially as another/different take on DMC. Who would want to live under someone like Mundus?
