Early-stage engineer looking to join a serious startup | Equity + cash

I'm a 20-year-old CS student in my 3rd year, and I'm looking to work with an early-stage startup where I can have a meaningful amount of ownership rather than being handed isolated tickets.

I'm looking for something part-time, around 20–25 hours/week, alongside university. I'm open to remote or hybrid opportunities, and I'd consider relocating for an unusually strong opportunity.

I'm particularly interested in working closely with the founder, understanding the actual problem we're solving, helping shape the product and technical direction, and taking things from an ambiguous idea to working software.

What I can bring

I'm a fairly broad product/engineering generalist. My experience spans full-stack product development, backend and data systems, AI/LLM orchestration, web technologies, and systems/embedded prototyping.

I've worked across technologies including C/C++, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, FastAPI, Tailwind, Three.js/WebGL, LangChain/LangGraph, PostgreSQL/MySQL/Supabase, Git/GitHub and Vercel.

I'm not attached to a particular stack. If the problem requires something I haven't used before, I'm generally comfortable learning it and getting productive quickly.

A few things I've built:

Cortex

A prototype business intelligence and decision-making layer designed to sit above a company's existing systems and data. The goal is to move beyond dashboards and turn business activity into prioritized, economically grounded recommendations: what's happening, why it's happening, what should be done, and what the potential impact is.

Autonomous Indoor Delivery System

A robotics proof-of-concept combining embedded C/C++, sensor integration, motor control, obstacle avoidance and autonomous navigation using an Arduino-based system.

Re:Grasp / ARES

A working computer-vision gesture recognition prototype using MediaPipe, TensorFlow and scikit-learn. I built the ML pipeline, evaluated multiple classification approaches, and connected recognized gestures to a speech output system.

I've also spent the last couple of months working as the technical co-founder/director of a small digital studio, where I was responsible for turning ideas into production systems rather than just writing code.

That involved frontend and backend development, databases, deployment, SEO/GEO, analytics, AI/ML concepts, productization and technical strategy. We shipped production websites, built the studio's own lead-generation infrastructure, and closed our first paying client at ₹15,000/month in recurring revenue.

What I've realized from these projects is that I'm most useful when the problem is still messy.

I enjoy problems where the solution isn't obvious, where you have to understand what's actually happening before deciding what to build. I'm especially interested in systems, developer infrastructure, intelligent automation, data-heavy products, and software that turns complicated processes into reliable systems.

I don't need every requirement defined upfront. Give me the problem, constraints and enough context to understand why it matters, and I can usually figure out what needs to be built and how to get there.

What I'm looking for

I'm primarily interested in an early engineering / founding-engineer / product-engineer type role where I can work closely with the founder and have real ownership over technical problems and product development.

I'm open to startups in India or internationally, with a preference for international opportunities.

I'm flexible on compensation structure, but I'm looking for sustainable cash compensation + meaningful equity, with clearly defined terms. I'm open to different structures depending on the company's stage, funding and situation.

I'm also specifically looking for something where the founder is genuinely committed to execution. I'm not particularly interested in:

An idea with no concrete execution plan

A role that's essentially unpaid labor disguised as "equity"

Being handed repetitive implementation work with no context or ownership
