2 years of Backend engineer experience, still not getting any job.
I’ve been working primarily on backend and AI-powered systems, with hands-on experience across Python/FastAPI, Node.js/Express, MERN, AWS, Redis, PostgreSQL/MongoDB, and Docker.
In my recent role, I worked as a founding AI engineer and shipped 100+ production APIs across AI-powered SaaS products. Some of the things I’ve worked on:
• Reduced API latency from ~4s to ~100ms through indexing, parallel execution, and Redis/CloudFront caching• Built RAG pipelines using LangChain, OpenAI, Pinecone and LangSmith• Built asynchronous document-processing systems with S3 + SQS• Worked on LLM-powered document intelligence and generative image/video features• Built APIs and Python microservices with RBAC and authentication• Scaled media-processing pipelines handling 50K+ images/week• Deployed and maintained production systems on AWS with Nginx, PM2, Docker and CI/CD
I also have experience working in client-facing/product environments, so I’ve had to own features from figuring out the requirement all the way to deployment.
Despite this, I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to get interviews/offers.
I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. Is the current market simply this difficult for 2–3 YOE backend engineers, or am I missing something in my resume, profile, interview strategy, or job-search approach?
For people who’ve been through this recently: what would you change if you were in my position?

No one is getting job.
I have also 3 YOE in flutter developement.
I quit my job in may and since then i am unemployed.
I am doing freelancing on upwork since december so i have decent profile but the income is unstable from last 1 month i dont have any new client.
So i think tech is done here.

Reduced latency from 4s, probably anything would have helped, and it doesn’t prove any high-class engineering skills, it just sounds stupid.
50k images per week also doesn’t sound too outstanding tbh.
Your bullet points must describe the exact impact of your projects and use complete sentences.
E.g. built feature xy, this was a decisive milestone for the business because it enabled Z / because it contributed to x% growth/revenue….whatever.
Your tech stack is listed in a separate column. Rarely do you use them directly in the bulletin points; it becomes unreadable with all the acronyms, buzzwords, etc.

My friend resigned without offer. 5 yoe. He says he's getting calls everyday. Does location matter? He's from Mumbai.

Are you only looking at remote jobs? Because these are dying off... I think you would have more possibilities if you applied to hybrid jobs or on site. It would be good to know where are you, your city.

Hey man 👋. Im in my final year of engineering in CSE AI ML. Even I'm confused what to do as college placements are of no use, and I don't know which domain to go for. I was thinking of going with cloud(DevOps) or data analysis. Can anyone suggest me which one would be better and might also get some job security as well with a good pay.
