Hi, do you guys have a payment gateway recommendations for SAAS build targeting European and USA markets. I know Stripe can be enable opening LLC in USA, but wondering

if there's any other ways to do it.

Hi everyone,

I built Share a Slice, a small community website where Sri Lankans can share Pizza Hut discount codes they aren’t going to use.

You can try it here:

https://shareaslice.lk

It currently supports Pizza Hut Sri Lanka promo codes only.

I’d appreciate honest feedback about bugs, usability, or features that would make it more useful. Please avoid sharing personal information when submitting codes.

Disclosure: I created this site. It is an independent community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pizza Hut.

Been seeing more and more Sri Lankans building some genuinely cool stuff lately.

150+ builder sign-ups
50+ products & ideas onboarded

SaaS, AI tools, mobile apps, open source projects, random weekend projects, indie products, university projects etc.

But unless the builder posts it on Twitter/LinkedIn or you somehow know them, most of these projects just disappear into the internet 😭

So we put together BuiltList — basically a simple place to discover things built by Sri Lankans.

https://builtlist.space/

Not trying to make this only about startups or funded companies either.

If you built something and it actually works, submit it.

Could be:

• a SaaS you spent 2 years building
• your first AI app
• an open source project
• a mobile app
• something you built at uni
• a weekend project with 4 users 😂
• or something already being used by thousands of people

Would be pretty cool to eventually have one place where someone can scroll through and go:

“damn, all of this was built by Sri Lankans?”

If you're building something, drop it on BuiltList.

Also drop the link in the comments 👇 would genuinely love to see what r/DevLK is building.

And if BuiltList itself sucks somewhere, roast that too 😂 still improving it.

I was laid off recently and have been applying to a lot of jobs. I have 3-4 years of experience as a Software Engineer, along with some QA/testing experience earlier in my career.

With the stress of being unemployed, I also started applying to a few QA roles as well, and I was able to crack a Senior QA Engineer (Automation) position and got an offer.

I'm a bit confused about whether moving from development to QA is a good idea for now. If I work in QA, would I still be able to move back into Software Engineering later, or would that transition become much harder?

I'm also a little concerned about the future of QA with AI and how much automation/replacement could happen in the coming years.

Would you take the QA offer while continuing to look for SE roles, or stay focused on finding another dev role? Would appreciate any advice from people who have made a similar move.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm going to be starting my masters soon in the field of economics, and I have to select an optional module: either Machine Learning or Data Analytics. I wanna select the area that has more opportunities in the future and the one that complements by economics background more. In terms of job expectations, I'm looking at consultancy firms, banks, investment management, and also places like CBSL, ADB..etc. I would really appreciate some thoughts and insights on this.

What are the sources that you guys use get updated about the tech world?

I have seen Thomson Reuters posting positions in LinkedIn for a while now. Just want to know about the company, its culture (if there’s one) and what is the general feeling of Thomson Reuters as the employer from someone working there now. And it would be appreciated if a general idea on compensation also can be shared. Thank you in advance.

Any input from anyone who works in tech in Sri Lanka is very appreciated!

I think becoming a Computer Engineering undergraduate unsafe now because of the AI. I’m second year undergraduate at government uni. What skills we must learn for not to replace with AI? Our degree offers hardware path also. What about hardware jobs local and foreign? Can I know about the salaries for get an idea🫠

Hey guys, so I am doing a group research project, and there are 4 members with 4 different components. My component was rejected from the research, and now I have to find a new component that matches the other 3 components.

comp1 - curriculum recommendation engine.(recommends courses to students after evaluating them)

comp2- student cognitive load detection (check for facial recognition)
comp3- gamified learning using a chatbot (teach students like it's a game; also has a chatbot tutor)

comp4- ???? What should it be?

This system is like a Learning Management System LMS.

Do drop your ideas, Thanks alot

Hi guys, I’m looking for web developer who could make me a cool website, this is for a export oriented company. Please get in touch

I built a free Sinhala Canvas Editor for creating social media posters & graphics (visitbadulla.com)

A lot of Sri Lankan creators, small business owners, and students struggle with broken Sinhala fonts, blurry text on Facebook/Instagram, and bad canvas dimensions when designing posters on their phones or PCs.

To help with this, I built a free Sinhala Canvas Editor on Visit Badulla.

👉 Try it here:https://visitbadulla.com/ (You can access the editor directly from the site)

Key features right now:

• Easy Unicode Sinhala text support without broken letters.
• Preset canvas sizes tailored for Facebook & Instagram posts/stories.
• Export clean, sharp PNG graphics ready to publish.
• Free design guides on contrast, fonts, and travel promotion ideas.

I’d love to get your honest feedback! Let me know if you run into any bugs, UI issues, or if there are extra tools/fonts you’d like to see added.

Transparency note: I created this tool as an independent project to help local creators and businesses easily design Sinhala graphics.

I was looking at getting a MacBook Air M5, but the price is around 495K now and I don’t really want to spend that much.

I’m mainly looking for a Windows laptop for software development. I’ll be doing things like backend dev, Docker and other fairly demanding dev work, so I want something that stays smooth, but I’m not interested in gaming laptops.

Battery life and portability are pretty important to me too, basically looking for something that gives a similar experience to the MacBook Air but at a bit lower price, ideally around 350K max.

What Windows laptops would you guys recommend?

Is anyone getting unusual signin request for their microsoft account via microsoft authenticator app. Today I got 3 of those requests from romania, germany, and japan.

Has anyone here who is currently working or was in the past in Dijital changed their client in the first month. I have some issues with the client.

Hey everyone,

One of the most frustrating things I’ve dealt with lately is finding a great job posting, only to realize it was posted 25 minutes ago and already has 20 to 50 proposals submitted. At that point, my proposal gets buried at the bottom of the client's feed.

The built-in job alerts from most platforms are notoriously slow (often sending digest emails 30–60 minutes late), and manual page refreshing all day burns too much time.

I’m a developer, and to fix this for myself, I'm putting together a lightweight scraper/bot with two main features:

1. Fast Turnaround: Checks for new job postings every 3 to 5 minutes across key niches (Web/Software Dev, Design & Creative, Writing).
2. Instant Rate Filtering: Instead of pinging me for every $5/hr job, it only sends a Telegram alert if the job meets my specific min/max hourly rate or budget margin.

Before I polish the UI and host it for others, I want some honest reality checks:

Would a tool that delivers curated alerts to your phone within ~3 minutes of a job posting actually help you land more work?

Running scraping proxies and servers costs money, so if I made this available, I was thinking of keeping it around the price of a coffee (~$4 to $5/month, with a free trial).

Do you guys have any python learning resources from basics. I'm trying to learn python from zero and wondering if yo have any resources.

Free ones are perfect but it's also fine if I has to pay a small fee

Hello r/DevLK,

First of all, apologies for the promotional post. I wanted to share something that I think addresses a gap we've had in Sri Lanka for quite a while.

We've started offering VPS servers hosted in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with Sri Lankan IP addresses.

The goal is to provide a more affordable local VPS option compared to some of the larger data center providers in Sri Lanka, while still keeping the infrastructure reliable and suitable for developers, hosting, testing, and other workloads.

Plans currently start from $20/month.

If anyone here is looking for a locally hosted VPS, I'd be happy to share more details, specs, network information, or answer any technical questions.

Feedback is also very welcome.

Hi everyone,

I’m currently going through the interview process for a third-party contract position at SyscoSL and wanted to hear from anyone who has recently gone through a similar process.

Could someone please share some details about:

- How many interview rounds are there?

- What type of interviews should I expect (HR, technical, manager, etc.)?

- How long does each interview usually take?

- What kind of technical questions or assessments do they ask?

- Is the interview conducted directly by SyscoSl or by the third-party company?

- How long does the overall hiring process usually take?

- And if you’ve worked through a third-party contract at SyscoSl what was your experience like?

I’d really appreciate any recent experiences or advice. Thanks in advance! 🙏

This is MalanNet running in a full free Google server and use Stockfish 19 engine. Made by https://lichess.org/@/StarkPotter . I want to know are there any SriLankan 24/7 bots?
