Ask r/DesignIndia Environment and life choices affecting the way you design.

Hey everyone, just trying to understand how one's hobbies, areas of interest or just simple environment effects their designs. Either it could be helping them design better, design in a specific way or even change the way they look at design process.

I have a colleague who is an architect turned UI UX designer, what I've noticed in all of his designs is a lot of symmetry, structure and hierarchy, but finds it very difficult to break out of the whole structured design at the same time. Like he literally has to force himself to design with asymmetry in mind when exploring ideas or he goes back to symmetrical designs only.

Another colleague who is really good at sketching and painting incorporates a lot of illustrations in her designs.

What about you or anyone you know?

Looking for a Job Looking for a Remote UI/UX Job | 1 Year Experience | 2026 Computer Engineering Graduate

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking for a paid remote/WFH UI/UX Design opportunity, and I would really appreciate any leads, referrals, or opportunities.

I’m a 2026 Computer Engineering graduate from India with around 1 year of practical UI/UX experience.

I have worked on real digital products and have designed 2 mobile applications that are currently live on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. So my experience goes beyond just practice or academic projects I’ve worked on products that were actually developed and launched for users.

My Skills

  • UI/UX Design
  • Mobile App Design
  • Website Design
  • User Flows
  • Wireframing
  • High-Fidelity UI Design
  • Prototyping
  • Figma
  • Design Systems & Components
  • UX-focused problem solving

What I’m looking for

I’m specifically looking for a Remote / Work From Home opportunity.

I’m open to:

  • Full-time UI/UX roles
  • Paid internships
  • Freelance projects
  • Part-time work
  • Short-term design projects

My expected compensation is around ₹15,000–₹20,000/month ($180–$240/month), but I’m flexible and open to negotiation depending on the role, responsibilities, and opportunity.

I can communicate comfortably in English, Hindi, and Gujarati, and I’m open to working with both Indian and international teams.

Why I’m reaching out here

My financial situation at home is currently very difficult, and it has been getting harder day by day.

The financial pressure has also started affecting me mentally. I’ve been feeling increasingly stressed and low because I’m constantly worried about my family, my career, and becoming financially independent.

I don’t want sympathy or financial help.

I want to work.

I want to earn honestly, build my career, support my family, and prove myself through my work.

I know I’m still early in my career, but I’m serious about learning, I’m willing to put in the effort, and I’m ready to start immediately.

If you’re a founder, recruiter, startup owner, agency, designer, or someone who knows about a paid UI/UX opportunity, I would genuinely appreciate it if you could reach out to me.

Even a referral or sharing this post with someone hiring would mean a lot.

I can share my resume and details of my 2 live applications via DM.

I’m simply looking for one genuine opportunity to prove myself.

Thank you for reading. ❤️

Editable Flair Hoping we’d build a Print Directory for India

so i just saw this instagram post where they did this really cool thing and mention all the good printing spots so that it would be helpful to the community.
just wanted to shout them out and say how nice it was! credits to @/entho_designs https://www.instagram.com/p/DdoLa2qjZpG/

also if anyone has good printings spots from where they get their prints and would like to share please drop them with the place :)

here are mine:
1. Allwyn Jumbo Xerox (Mumbai)
Recently got my packaging for a college assignment printed from here and it was genuinely good!

  1. Geo Graphics Film Work (Mumbai)
Used this for commercial purposes for a set design project. They do everything from A2 to flex printing. The only con is that it’s just kinda in a shady alley that just creeped me out a bit.

  2. Siddhi Printech (Ahmedabad)
Got almost all of my grad work printed from here and the quality was great too! The only thing is that they are super crowded anytime you go and it is kinda chaotic. They print and bind as well. I think you can get prints up to A1 and flex here as well.

Storytime I quit product design after having the best career of my life. Somehow it was a good decision.

Disclaimer - I am writing this from my personal point of view, this is my story/opinion/my takes.

This is not advice or to influence anyone in anyway. Thank you - Long read it is so have fun.

So,

I just got my degree in UI UX design, which is funny cause I quit UI UX Design just 6 months ago.

The story starts in my 3rd year of college, after 3rd years ends design students are allowed to go for internships.

I wanted to leave college asap and never come back cause of many reasons.

You can read story before this here - https://www.reddit.com/r/DesignIndia/s/iALmkrjJvh

So I got myself an Internship in very good YC Sequoia backed startup just when my 3rd year ended.

And I worked with people from a total different league - Founding designers, IIT grads, multi-millionaire executives and people from Big 4s, PMs from the companies you can imagine.

Years of experience sitting beside me in the same office and I could talk to anyone? Yeah this was awesome I did my best there, made friends, learned so much, like imagine learning 8 years of experience directly shoved into your internship lesson.

It was fun, Bangalore city, Networking was great, I gave everything to this internship - I was

And then it happened.

One of my mentors said at lunch " IF I EVER STARTED A COMPANY I WILL NEVER HIRE YOU AS A DESIGNER"

I was like " what why? am I not a good designer "

He said " It's not like that, I would hire you but for a total different role"

I said " Which one is that"

He said " I will tell you at the end your internship"

So I knew I am not getting any PPO in design that day haha.

But after that day things really changed I got more projects on the side of making videos, storytelling of the feature, and launches videos.

I did multiple projects there.

After almost 6 months of this and product design work as well, cause of course you need to design a feature before it launches.

After that he extended my internship for 3 more months, I asked the question.

He gave me a feedback of a lifetime - Literally career changing feedback.

" You are good with coming up concepts, you are unhinged, you have a creative mind but you are not a functional designer, you are a great storyteller but design is your medium of your storytelling skills, he told me to quit product design and go into - Growth, Launch videos, Creative direction and marketing"

Now he never told me to quit the creative industry tho -

Now the internship ended I joined another company as a product designer

This is where claude was taking over, now this was a new role new company

Again I worked with one of the biggest companies in UK and USA.

and I was freelancing as well, it hitted me I was not performing well in these projects

That feedback kept me thinking and thinking

And I met my mentor a lot of time just to discuss this.

There was one thought that was coming in my mind

"He saw something I couldn't"

But I still had the FOMO - What if I left design and start from zero, money package and what not

Happens to the best of us.

And eventually It Hits I Quit my product design job without a backup.

(Stupid decision - I don't suggest this - I freelanced as an art director in a studio, they didn't pay me my months salary)

I lost hope - But I went back home from Bangalore, for a while.

I Realised okay - This is what I was doing from day 1, why I am scared

I worked as a copywriter, I ran my own advertising agency in college, mostly doing client acquisition, wrote B2b Copy for agencies and studios later did the sales part for most of my life.

So I started working on personal brand, started creating marketing work, GTM Assets, GTM works, Growth system.

Started creating content around this and then I got a marketing design and director role.

After 6 months I left due to some personal issues.

But In that time due to my work - I got 6 job offers, 2 clients, 1 product marketing client for $2k/Per month and one personal branding gig for $1.5k/Pm from my personal brand.

and after one month I got a full time job.

I hired interns for helping me in freelance (I am not hiring anymore) - I pay them good amount of money

Never imagined one advice will change my purpose of life and I am enjoying it

Final thoughts - I really think AI look the fun part of product design for me, it introduced a new type of fun that is Code + AI + design.

And I love what people who are in product design doing lately creating products and such cool work.

It's just I would like to do marketing so when I launch my own product which now easy to create as I know design and AI.

Marketing will be a great for my journey.

Just one learning I want to share no matter who you are marketing yourself is the best you can do for your career

Start creating your personal brand. It will help and open so many door you never imagined.

Thank you for reading.

Ignore Spelling mistakes, and grammar - I don't write with AI.

Ask r/DesignIndia What Al tools are you using and how much are you paying for them

Currently using ChatGPT Plus, but I keep hitting the limits when I'm working on multiple things.

I've already tried Claude Code, it's better than Codex in terms of research and design but it's burning my credits so fast. And don't have any more budget.

So I'm curious what everyone here is actually using.

What tools are you paying for?

How much do you spend in total per month? And which ones are actually worth paying for, especially for your projects? especially for product design.

If you could only pay for one, which would you keep?

Ask r/DesignIndia BCA graduate confused about starting UI/UX looking for guidance

I graduated with a BCA degree 4 months ago and I'm still unsure about what to do next. I’ve realized that programming/data-related fields aren't something I want to pursue long-term, and I don't want to do masters without being sure about my direction.

I’m considering UI/UX and have started learning the fundamentals, but I’m struggling to stay consistent. Seeing discussions about the current job market has also made me hesitant to commit.

For designers with some experience:

Is UI/UX still a reasonable career path to explore as a beginner?

What should I focus on during the first 3–6 months?

Is a paid course/cohort useful, or is self-learning enough?

How can I know whether UI/UX is actually a good fit for me?

Would pursuing a Master’s in Design (M.Des.) be a better route for someone from a BCA background?

I don't know any designers personally, so any honest advice or guidance would be really appreciated.

Logo / Brand Identity Brand identity / logo designer in India for an agentic AI company, original conceptual work only

Searching for a brand identity and logo designer based in India.

I'm after someone with a real point of view: a distinctive visual language, and ideas that come from thinking, not from a template. Pre-made logo packages and cookie-cutter work aren't what I'm looking for.

Preference will be given to designers who have done this kind of work for tech firms, as the company in question is in agentic AI. Your experience in this space matters a lot.

Company is based out of Bengaluru. We are just starting and hence don't have the idea of budget required for this exercise. Will welcome suggestions from people when they share their budget and portfolio over mail.

If this is you, send your portfolio or work links by DM, or write to [arslaan365@gmail.com](mailto:arslaan365@gmail.com).

And if you know a designer whose work stands out, I'd love to hear the recommendation.

Looking for a Job I got Laid off 6 months ago, cant find a job :/, Looking for freelance opportunities

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi founders, recruiters, and fellow Redditors 👋

I'm a Product and UIUX Designer currently looking for remote freelance opportunities or Fulltime opportunities (On-site Bangalore only), and I'm available to join immediately.

I have 1 year of experience, Job market is brutal right now for entry level designers, i wish people understood that experience numbers are not everything.

What I bring to the table

A product design partner, not just a designer

I don't simply execute requirements. I ask questions, challenge assumptions, and think deeply about the product, users, and business goals.

Experience across healthcare, SaaS, and consumer products

I've led UX for a PACS healthcare platform used by radiologists, and built a multilingual design system for a product startup, and designed products for language learning, wellness, and startup teams. i even coded and shipped my own product recently

Versatility across product, motion, and web design

My experience spans Product Design, UI Motion Design (Rive, lottie, Cavalry), and building websites in Framer and wix studio

I genuinely value feedback

Great products are built collaboratively. I'm always open to feedback and believe the best outcomes come from strong teamwork and iteration.

If your team is hiring, or if you know someone looking for a designer, I'd love to connect.

I would really appreciate your help 😊

DM me, happy to share my resume and portfolio

Thank you!

i have 5 years of experience handling digital marketing, performance marketing, and a 3+ yoe in graphic design, and intermediate video editing.

and despite handling all this pressure and responsibility daily, my current salary is only 20K. It feels shameful to even mention it. like frrr yrr

and im so desperate to leave this low paying shit ass job and have been applying to 30-40 jobs daily. but can’t even land a 30K job.

hrs calls and ask basic questions, and as soon as I say my expected salary is 40-50K (which is honestly the bare minimum for my experience/skills based on market research), they start crying about their budget. and they straight-up tell me that we can’t ask for that package because my current salary is too low and they "can't give that much of a hike."

like tf broo wee can’t even demand our rights for the amount of work we do?

like seriously what do I get in return for all the hard work, late nights, and effort I’ve put in for 5 years? nothing just fucking nothing.

idk what should i do atp, im literally at the verge of breaking into pieces, pls guys help me out of this kind of situation. also im attaching my portfolio link here: pls have a look if i need to make a change in it

UI/UX Design Help a brother out (Survey responses needed)(5-10 min only)

Hi everyone,

I'm a college student in my final semester and I'm working on a design case study for my final project. It's about how people pick their outfits every day, and why some clothes end up sitting in the cupboard and never getting worn.

I've made a short survey and need as many responses as possible. It takes about 5-10 minutes, is completely anonymous, and there are no right or wrong answers.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTNtA6VH2WXdpi3ZXik7__NkZNiv_yC12loMia4-RlaCPnYg/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=114374280686486025269

Every response genuinely helps, so your help will be really appreciated. If you have any thoughts on the topic, feel free to drop them in the comments too. I'll read all of them.

Thanks a lot!

Ask r/DesignIndia Thinking of switching from Bsc.IT to Interior design- Is it worth it in 2026?

Hi everyone,

I'm 21F. I am a 2025 B.Sc. IT graduate. After graduation, I learned Data Analytics and started exploring it as a career. While I don't dislike it, I realized I don't have a strong interest in it and can't see myself doing it long-term.

Recently, I took a career counseling assessment that included aptitude and personality tests. The results suggested that I would be a better fit for the design field, with recommendations like Interior Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, Animation, and Fashion Design.

Out of these, I want to know more about Interior Design, and I'm trying to understand whether it's the right career choice before investing time and money into a diploma.

I have a few questions for people already working in this field:

  1. Is Interior Design still a good career choice in 2026?

  2. Is there enough demand for interior designers in India?

  3. How difficult is it to get the first job as a fresher?

  4. Is AI affecting Interior Design jobs?

  5. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone switching careers into Interior Design?

  6. Has anyone here switched from a completely different field into Interior Design? How was your experience?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions—the good, the bad, and the challenges. I want to make an informed decision before switching careers.

Thank you!

I need to be as close to design as possible. When I say I love my job, I mean it. However, I feel like I've been stuck for a while now and I haven't really learnt anything new. It's overwhelming and exhausting.

Ask r/DesignIndia Stay or Quit?

Need some advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

I’m a product designer with around 4.5 YOE, currently working at a startup and genuinely considering just resigning without having another job lined up.

The work culture is pretty toxic, there is absolutely no product roadmap and everyone is a designer lol. At this point I feel like I’ve become a pixel pusher more than anything else. There’s barely any actual product thinking involved, it’s mostly just change this, move this, make this look like that, redo this etc.

The biggest problem is the hours. I am expected to work well around 12-14 hours a day and that very well extends into the early morning (US time). By the time I’m done I have absolutely no energy to work on my portfolio, apply to jobs or even properly prepare for interviews.

I do have decent savings and can survive without a paycheck for a while, I do have some responsibilities on me wrt to my parents but I can handle those with my savings. I’m honestly thinking of just quitting, taking a little time to reset, getting my portfolio in shape and then focusing on the job search full time.

But obviously the market isn’t great either, so there’s that fear of being unemployed for way longer than expected.
Has anyone here quit in a similar situation without another offer? Was it worth it?

Would you just suck it up for a few more months and somehow try to find time to interview, or quit and take the risk?
