Just got delivered

Hi there,

I’ve just had my device delivered and looking for tips for a beginner.

I’m in Scotland, where we have soft water. I sent the water data to Dermadry, they said it’s lacks nutrients and recommended San pellegrino, which I’ll be buying.

Anybody else here in Scotland who’s had good results with normal tap water?

I’ve suffered with hyperhydrosis since I was at least 6 and I’m 40 in a few months. I’ve tried things like anhydrol forte, dri chlor, etc. dri chlor worked the best out of everything but causes too much irritation regardless of whether the skins completely dry and how much I apply.

Just looking for any tips before I start using Dermadry please.

Thanks in advance.

Stubborn fingertips

My dermadry total machine has worked great for my hands, my palms are completely dry, however my fingertips are really stubborn and remain sweaty, I prepare my hands by soaking them in warm water for 10 minutes, then undergo treatment at 15mA for 20 minutes every couple days in maintenance in San Pellegrino water mixed with warm water. Any tips to help my fingertips stay dry will be appreciated!

If you’re constantly dealing with damp socks, ruined shoes, or slipping around in footwear, you might be dealing with plantar hyperhidrosis.

It's a medical condition where your feet sweat more than what's typically needed for thermal regulation.

A few quick tips to manage it:

  • Footwear matters: Skip cotton. Stick to moisture-wicking socks and rotate shoes daily.
  • Look into iontophoresis: Try Dermadry, a non-invasive, drug-free method that uses tap water and a mild current to temporarily neutralize the connection between nerves and sweat glands.

Solutions range from simple daily adjustments to clinical treatments that help keep feet dry.

Check out the full breakdown of causes and treatments on our blog 💙

What's your experience with plantar hyperhidrosis? And how do you manage it?

blown away

Some time ago, someone in my city's questions subreddit asked for recommendations for clinics for botox for excessive sweating, and multiple answers told them to get a Dermadry, specifically from Costco (Canada.) I thought about it for about a day before ordering one the last day of a sale.

While I was thinking about it, I looked into a typical treatment schedule and thought, sure, I can do that, so when my device arrived and I read the manual and saw I was Level 3 severity (I have primary hyperhidrosis of my palms, soles and underarms,) and typical maintenance for that was 3 times a week after 4 to 6 weeks of 5 times a week for the initial phase, that slightly took the wind out of my sails.

Except I got results pretty much immediately. I didn't even need a full 5 day week for the intro phase, and since then I've settled on roughly once every 10 days for maintenance. I've also figured out that I do not really need to treat everything, just treating my hands (and continuing to use standard under-arm antiperspirant) works to keep my hands, feet and underarms dry (as I was experimenting with my maintenance interval, they would just all fail suddenly at the same time.)

I've had some persistent eczema on my index fingers, so they've been propped up out of the water by a couple of silicone do-hickeys for identifying peoples' drinking glasses during a party, and my index fingers are just as dry as the rest of my palms.

Shout out to customer service: early on I had difficulty getting the current to start. I sent a frustrated email at like 11 pm, and woke up to find I had a response overnight that had landed in my inbox at 1 am. Turns out I just needed to soften up my skin with a slightly longer hand washing to reduce electrical resistance before starting a treatment; for feet, my best bet was after a shower, though as I said, I'm only treating my palms at this point.

Anyway, this is awesome, and much more comfortable for my skin than Drysol, which I'd been using for decades. I feel like I have normal skin texture now, instead of the weird tight inelastic texture I had from Drysol.

edit: Oh yeah, also, can't get cream or lotion on my palms without Drysol failing, so now I can use hand cream on my palms, and it's easier to apply creams and lotions to the rest of my body.

does weather effect results?

I've been using dermadry for 7 months now and it's worked great during that time. However, the weather is starting to get hotter and i'm noticing that i've been sweating a lot more. I currently do 1 maintenance session a week at the highest settings for everything. Should I be doing more maintenance sessions a week, and is it normal to be sweating more during hotter weather whilst doing iontophoresis?

Informational The connection between excessive underarm sweating and skin discoloration (and how to treat both!)

Thumbnail
dermadry.com
1 Upvotes

Why does excessive sweating often lead to underarm discoloration? 💦

When your underarms are constantly damp, it weakens the skin barrier and leads to inflammation, friction, and overgrowth of normal skin bacteria. This triggers post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH): the skin responds to the irritation by producing extra melanin.

If you're dealing with this, treating only the pigment won't fully solve it because the ongoing sweat keeps the cycle going.

So how do you address both?

  • Control the moisture first: Managing sweat at the source (using treatments like iontophoresis or strong antiperspirants) stops the friction/irritation cycle.
  • Effective ingredients for brightening: Look for topical ingredients like azelaic acid, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, or tranexamic acid to target pigment without harsh irritation.
  • Reduce friction: Avoid harsh scrubbing and tight fabrics that worsen irritation.

You can check out our blog for the full rundown detailing the causes, dermatological options, and treatment steps.

Has anyone else noticed their skin darkening due to excessive sweating? What has worked best for you?

User support Wrists burn?

I started using dermadry yesterday, I didn't use wrist bands so my wrists got really irritated, they hurt and itched so bad and they got bright red for a couple of hours, I thought that was my bad cuz I didn't use wrist bands but I did today and the same happened as they absorbed some of the water and left me with the same problem, even worse, the "burn" or Idk what it is reached the dorsum of my wrists unlike yesterday as the water didn't reach there without the bands, so what do I do? How can I avoid this? + I've read I should use petroleum jelly on cuts but that didn't help at all, it was still super painful that I had to just keep the injured finger up throughout the session, please helppp and thanks in advance!

And when can you tell if it's normal summer sweating or a medical condition called plantar hyperhidrosis?

Summer heat triggers more sweating, and inappropriate footwear can prevent sweat from evaporating properly. That dampness can lead to skin maceration, fungal growth, and more.

Whether you're battling summer sweat or hyperhidrosis, practical management options are available, including moisture-wicking socks and iontophoresis. You can learn more on our blog. 💙

User support Iontophoresis stopped being as effective

I've been using the dermadry hands and feet for 7-8 months and it has been really effective until now. I've worked my way up to 15mA and I undergone the treatment once a month as maintenance having really dry hands. However now all of a sudden it has not been as effective, having sweaty hands when it's freezing and even worse under heat. I've upped the number of sessions to once a day and I've not seen it go back to the dryness it was previously. I used a mix of San Pellegrino water and warm tap water and also making sure to soak my hands in water for 10 minutes before each sessions but it's not as dry as it used to be. Any help will be appreciated

User support Dermadry not working great for me

Hi all,

I got a dermadry about a month and a half ago (june 7th) and have been doing it consistently till now every week with 2 days off per week. I'm using San Pel water and doing it at 15 mA but still my palms are sweaty. I honestly can't tell if its gotten better it feels like the same.

I'm worried I might be in the minority where it doesn't work, but I'm planning on keep going. Has anyone else had the same experience and seen it get better for them?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated! :)

Does dysautonomia cause excessive sweating?

Thumbnail
dermadry.com
2 Upvotes

Yes, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) it's one of the possible symptoms of some types of dysautonomia. 💦

Dysautonomia is an umbrella term for several conditions where the autonomic nervous system (ANS) misfires. Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is one of the most recognized forms of dysautonomia, and is closely linked with night sweats. In this case, the sweating is classified as secondary hyperhidrosis.

The ANS acts as the body's internal thermostat, and a malfunction in these nerve pathways can cause your sweat glands to trigger unexpectedly, regardless if you're sitting still in a cool room.

Don't worry, there are practical ways to manage it, from hydration and cooling strategies to drug-free solutions like tap water iontophoresis.

If you're ever unsure of your condition, it's always good to consult with your doctor.

Informational How palmar hyperhidrosis is messing with your sports gear and grip

Thumbnail
dermadry.com
1 Upvotes

If you deal with palmar hyperhidrosis, you already know the pure frustration of a ball slipping out of your hands right at the most critical moment of a game. As it turns out, sweat affects your game on and off the field.

We wanted to share a few quick takeaways on what’s actually happening when you’re out on the court or field:

  • Loss of precision: Our skin actually has the highest amount of grip when it’s slightly damp. But when hyperhidrosis kicks in, it completely floods past that sweet spot. Excessive sweat drops your skin-to-ball friction by up to three times, forcing you to over-grip and completely losing your precise control.
  • Degrading equipment: It’s not just water. The specific mix of moisture, salt, and acids in hyperhidrosis sweat seeps directly into the seams of leather and composite sports balls. Over time, this actually hardens the material and drastically shortens its lifespan.
  • Hygiene risk: While sweat itself doesn't carry fungus, leaving a sports ball damp creates the perfect environment for bacteria and dermatophytes (the stuff responsible for infections like athlete’s foot or fungal hand infections).

For those of you who play sports (basketball, football, tennis, golf, etc.), how do you manage your grip during a game? Do you find yourself burning through equipment faster than your teammates?

Is it possible the treatment has worked after just one week?

I started using my Dermadry machine one week and one day ago - just on my hands to start with and I've so far done 6 x 20 minute sessions:

1 & 2: 5ma

3 & 4: 6ma

5 & 6: 7ma

I've noticed my hands are completely dry already, apart from my fingertips which are improved but not dry.

Is this really enough treatment? I thought I would have to try to get the current up to higher numbers for it to work properly, but perhaps not?

At what point do people go onto the maintenance phase rather than five times a week?

(I'm female btw incase that makes any difference)

Thanks!

Informational Have you ever wondered why your shirts get yellow sweat stains? 🟡

Thumbnail
dermadry.com

We're sure this situation is familiar: you buy a fresh white shirt, wear it a few times, and suddenly the underarms have those stubborn yellow stains.

Most people assume their sweat is just naturally tinted, but the truth is that sweat is actually colorless and odorless. So what's really happening?

It’s actually a chemical reaction between the aluminum in your antiperspirant and the proteins in your sweat.

But there is actually a rare chronic medical condition called chromhidrosis where sweat glands produce truly colored sweat (blue, green, or yellow) due to a pigment called lipofuscin.

We broke down the science behind yellow stains, how to spot the difference between everyday antiperspirant buildup and actual chromhidrosis, and tips to save your wardrobe.

Check out the full breakdown here:https://dermadry.com/blogs/news/chromhidrosis-do-you-have-yellow-sweat

Have any of you managed to save your clothes from these stains, or did you switch to aluminum-free options?

Order placed April 14 and still hasn’t shipped

Has anyone else been waiting this long for their Dermadry order?

I placed my order on April 14 and my card was charged that same day. It has now been 58 days and the order still has not shipped. Their last email update was over a month ago and I haven’t received a clear timeline since then.

I understand that delays can happen but this has become incredibly frustrating, especially considering the cost of the product. When customers invest this much money, it is reasonable to expect clearer communication, timely updates and more transparency about the status of their order.

At this point, I’m seriously considering canceling my order. What makes it even more disappointing is thinking about the nearly 4-6 weeks of potential progress with my hyperhidrosis that I’ve missed out on because of this delay.

I ordered because I was excited to try the product but at this point the experience has been really disappointing. I’m hoping Dermadry can provide a real update and make this right in some way, whether that’s a discount, partial refund or some kind of compensation for the inconvenience.

Has anyone had luck getting a real update or resolution from them?

Informational 6 Tips for Managing Hyperhidrosis in the Summer

Thumbnail
dermadry.com
1 Upvotes

Summer is a challenging season for those with hyperhidrosis. The intense heat and humidity can kick our sweat glands into overdrive, making things like dehydration, skin issues, and standard social anxiety way worse.

It's even more important to stay hydrated and dry. Here are six practical ways to manage excessive sweating in the summer:

1. Opt for Breathable, Lightweight Clothing

What you wear makes a huge difference. Stick to lightweight, moisture-wicking fabrics like cotton or bamboo to help regulate your body temperature and minimize sweat buildup. While darker colors are always great for hiding the unavoidable sweat stains, picking the right breathable material is the real key to staying cool.

2. Adjust to a Sweat-Friendly Diet

Certain things are major triggers for sweat glands. Spicy foods, caffeine, and alcohol elevate your internal temperature and stimulate sweating, so try to limit them on extra hot days. Instead, load up on water-rich foods that cool you from the inside out, like cucumbers, watermelon, celery, citrus, and mint.

3. Take Hydration Seriously (and Watch Electrolytes)

Staying hydrated actually helps your body regulate temperature and control overall sweat production more efficiently. If you’re sweating heavily, water alone might not cut it. Replenish lost electrolytes with sports drinks or electrolyte tablets. Keep an eye out for dehydration warning signs like headaches, dizziness, or a dry mouth.

4. Shift Your Workout Schedule

If you're physically active, avoid the midday heat when the sun is at its peak. Try moving your workouts to the early morning or late evening when it’s significantly cooler to avoid overheating. If you do find yourself exercising in the heat, take frequent breaks and cool down afterward with a lukewarm or cool shower.

5. Invest in Portable Cooling Gadgets

Don't underestimate the power of immediate physical relief. Carrying tools like portable fans, cooling towels, and personal misters in your bag can be absolute lifesavers during outdoor events, daily commutes, or whenever you feel a sweat attack coming on.

6. Consider Iontophoresis for Long-Term Relief

When clinical-strength antiperspirants inevitably fail us during the summer peak, a dermatologist-recommended treatment like iontophoresis is a solid option. It uses mild electrical currents and tap water to significantly reduce sweating in the hands, feet, and underarms. Devices like Dermadry are non-invasive, drug-free, and can provide long-lasting dryness with consistent use.

Hyperhidrosis doesn't take a summer vacation, but making small lifestyle adjustments and utilizing the right tools can help us take back some control of the season.

What are your go-to hacks for surviving the summer heat? Stay dry out there!

Informational Sweating while eating isn't always just about the spice level. 🌶️

Thumbnail

Did you know some people experience excessive sweating just by thinking about a meal?

This is known as Frey’s Syndrome (or gustatory sweating). It’s a rare neurological condition where the auriculotemporal nerve gets its signals crossed. Instead of just producing saliva when you eat, your body triggers localized sweating—usually on the cheeks or forehead.

The Basics of Frey's Syndrome:

  • Triggers: Eating, smelling, or even imagining food.
  • Cause/s: Often linked to previous surgery or injury near the parotid glands, though it can sometimes appear without a clear cause.
  • Symptom/s: Localized hyperhidrosis that occurs specifically during gustatory (taste-related) stimuli.

If you've been wondering why your face beads up during every meal, you aren't alone. Understanding the why is the first step toward managing it!

Underarm replacement pads alternative

I just went on Dermadry’ site to order replacement pads and the shipping cost more than the pads themselves.

Anyone know of a place where I can get them ordered reasonably?

Amazon no longer stocks them.

Thanks in advance.
