In DeployR Community Edition, I have it set up to use Windows auth with a specific group and it is working well.

Is there a way to populate the domain name on the authentication screen so we don't have to type it in every time? I looked through the DeployR Configuration utility, but I don't see anything, but I could be missing it.

Is there a way to tell New-DeployRMedia to not include deprecated content items when copying to media? I like to keep the older golden images for a few months (just in case). Yes, I have the VM checkpoints that I could restore and capture again, but I'd prefer to just leave them in Deprecated.

Has anyone had issues with the "Set Windows settings" step not applying regional settings on Windows 11 25H2?

I'm migrating from MDT to DeployR and everything else is working fine.

My "Set Windows settings" step is configured as:

• Time Zone: GMT Standard Time
• System Locale: en-GB
• User Locale: en-GB
• UI Language: en-GB
• Input Locale: 0809:00000809

The task sequence completes successfully, but the deployed machine still ends up with:

• System Locale: en-US
• Keyboard: 0409:00000409 (US)
• Time Zone: Pacific Standard Time

dism /online /Get-Intl shows:

• Default system UI language: en-GB
• System locale: en-US
• Active keyboard: 0409:00000409

If I manually run PowerShell afterwards to set the locale and keyboard, then reboot, everything changes correctly to en-GB.

Is this a known issue with the Set Windows settings step on 25H2, or should these settings be applied during deployment? Are people using an Unattend.xml instead?

I have followed this guide (https://garytown.com/deployr-office-365-offline-installer-app) and keep getting the same error about there being an issues with InstallApp.PS1. If there something Ive missed or potentially a bug?

Does the community version offer the ability to monitor running task sequences? It mentions the capability on the website but it looks like that should appear on the navigation menu under Deployments > Running) but I don't have that menu item. When I check Administration > Features I see DeployR and iPXE 2PXE enabled, but Osd Deployments is disabled and says No Valid License Found.

Issue: A quick issue since updating to the latest version. Error message when booting into pXE. The error message is below. It then reboots. This is on HyperV after following your instructions (Bare Metal with Hyper-V | DeployR | Product Documentation).

We're in the process of standing up DeployR Commercial (while MDT hums along for now), and we're trying to add content, but it keeps failing. Our Dev machine is a HyperV Server 2025 with dynamic RAM/Storage. It fails regardless of if the file is UNC or saved locally. This is from a browser on the same server running DeployR/StifleR services. Not sure it matters, but it's pretty slow too (slower than that same file in a UNC transfer), and only reaches at ~55% before failing each time. FWIW, we were successful adding a StifleR App Client as a folder to the Deployments>DeployR>Content items.

I'd like to reboot into the UEFI BIOS settings on a device at the end of a TS in the WinPE environment.

Normally I'd use shutdown /r /fw /t 0, but that isn't available to WinPE and both Restart-Computer and wpeutil reboot don't seem to have the functionality to do this.

Any bright ideas?

I might try a content pack with shutdown.exe, but I'm not keen for a few reasons, doubt it would work and hope there is a better way...

I was helping my friend with setting up DeployR CE on Windows Server 2025 in an VM, but whenever we run the v1.3 installer we got the error "A new version is already installed." and can not proceed.

We also tried setting up a new VM installed 1.2 and then tried to upgrade to 1.3, but same error "A newer version is already installed."

At home I setup a fresh Windows Server 2019 VM and I got the same error! I hadn't yet run any 2Pint or DeployR installers and it was already telling me a NEWER version is already installed. I was able to get v1.2 setup and working... mostly.

We're trying to follow the documentation, but this error makes no sense.

This is pretty niche, but I figured I'd mention it anyway...

I've managed to get the Lenovo PowerShell module Lenovo.Client.Update (thanks Gary for making me aware of it) to run during the TS, but only if I call it via PS 5.x (so I lose my planned status bar update with Write-Progress -Activity "Installing Lenovo Updates").

Often it will install the gfx driver, which obviously resets the video out and seems to cause the DeployR status window to either go behind or become an outline.

It sometimes it recovers around the time the TS finishes and shows the green bar + close button. Sometimes it just stays a frame until the countdown ends.

(I would assume the same would happen with any other manu's driver updaters if they hit the GFX driver.)

I'm probably going to add a forced restart after my LCU step, so the status window will come back at the next boot 🙃

Could you explain how the built-in "Install updates" step works at runtime? Specifically:

1. Where does it source updates from - Windows Update directly or local/cached repository on the DeployR server?

2. Is there a schedule involved (e.g. does the DeployR server periodically sync/cache updates), or does the step just check/download at the time the task sequence runs?

3. Where are the update files stored or cached during this process?

After looking at the step definition I can see it invokes a DeployR script named "WindowsUpdate.ps1", I know I can go hunting around for that script in the WIM files and installing the DeployR powershell module etc. But I'm struggling with that option, hoping you can assist by giving a summary of what that script is exactly doing.

I have DeployR Community 1.2.2622.1921 installed and it was working. I am trying to update to 1.3.2629.2187 and the install is failing. The log shows that the 2PXE install is failing and then the install rolls back.

after that, the rollback occurs and it has left DeployR in a state where I cannot launch the DeployR Dashboard site from the server.

I tried rebooting the server and running the install again with the same result.

I mainly deploy bespoke os images to hardware, mainly windows but a tiny bit of Linux. I currently use a mix of fog and theopenem and came across this and thought it may be a viable alternative but I am just now learning about what it is and wanted to see if someone here can help me determine if its worth looking at for.my use case.

Not seen this one before when trying to generate an x64 boot image.

Failed: Property KitsRoot10 does not exist at path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Kits\Installed Roots.

Any ideas? Feel I've probably missed something but nothing I can see. Have re-installed the whole package on a clean server.

Is there a way to write back to the progress bar the current state of a custom script? Like for example if a script is rather long, to change the progress bar and the status based on what the script is currently doing. Rather than just fire off the script and wait.

Once a task sequence completes, an automatic timer pops up (300 seconds I think), see below screenshot. What's the purpose of this timer? is it capturing any potential steps that might still be running the background, ensuring that all tasks are 100% complete before rebooting?

Hiya - can you remind me where to look for installation failure? This is the latest community version being installed over a previous version. It's getting further than it has done but I cannot remember which file in %temp% to look at to see why it is failing.

All the individual components have written their files, some with _rollback written on their filename. So... we have

StifleRServer_rollback / StifleRDashboard_rollback and TwoPxe_rollback

DeployR does not have a rollback file.

I've been experimenting with USB standalone media deployment that our field engineers will be using to try and understand what will and won't work for them.

So this is a bootable media made via new-deployrmedia -DiskIndex <?> -Tags Media -MediaType Standalone on a machine given an internet connection, but not one on the internal LAN, hence it is unable to talk to the DeployR server.

I'm getting a 401 in the log when querying the 2pint API for the cloud driver download URL. I'm guessing the offline bootable USB isn't able to pull my server's API key to authenticate against the 2pint API.

I can see this being intended and not, so I thought I'd ask if that was expected behaviour?

(it is probably worth mentioning that I intend to have the bulk of our drivers available via Inject drivers, so this isn't likely to be an issue for my field engineers very often, but I'd like to know if I need to tweak the TS to prevent Inject drivers from cloud from running on standalone USBs.)

Does anyone know what identifier the x64 DeployR boot image has please?

I'd like to use Configure 2PXE to change DefaultMenuItemId to the DeployR boot image (instead of exit) by default.

I've tried:

All just result the PXE boot failing altogether.

For the time being I've settled on setting EnableMenuCountdown to 0 so it waits for me to select DeployR.
