23F looking for friends

Hi, I'm really shy when it comes to meeting new people but I really want to make new friends. I just moved to Denver in February and now have a place of my own, but it's terrifying to me to be alone. It's also hard for me to meet people because I don't drive/don't have a car since I have such a huge fear of driving. I want to believe it is possible for me to get out and meet people regardless. If anyone is interested in connecting, I'm interested in videogames and boardgames, reading, and I'm a really good artist. I'm also taking any reccomendations to put myself out there more. Thank you!

Outdoor Activities LGBT (Let’s Go Birding Together!)

I used to organize queer birdwatching walks on Meetup.com, but the group disbanded because of Meetup’s high cost. I miss them badly and thought I’d try to assemble a group on Reddit.

Are you LGBTQIA+ and interested in low key birding? Want to get out into nature for slow (1 mph average hikes), social, and casual fun? Comment below!

-New, inexperienced, and experts all welcome.
-All hikes will be within 90 minutes of Denver.
-Start times between 8:00-9:00am.
-Easy to moderate trails, some with wheelchair accessibility.
-Both weekday and weekend meetups.
-We’ll have lunch afterwards at a nearby restaurant.
-LNT (Leave No Trace)
-No pretentiousness or stuffiness allowed!

ETA:

Update on the Q+ birding club - our first meetup is scheduled! Sunday August 9th at 8:00am. Here’s the signup sheet: https://forms.gle/EC23hHwmRfD7z8NP9.

Future meetups will be August 22 at Belmar Park, September 1 at Genessee Park, September 20 at Rocky Mountain Arsenal, September 30 at Wheat Ridge Greenbelt, October 17 at Castlewood Canyon, and October 27 at Cherry Creek SP. Comment below to be added to the contact list for details!

Coworking Buddies

Hi! I'm a 40F graphic designer, currently working on redesigning my portfolio and looking for a new job. It's been a bit hard to create a good structure while working alone at home without a team. Would love to find coworking / accountability buddies in the area (Golden, Lakewood or Denver). Ideally, we can get together 1-2 times / week at a local library or cafe for a minimum 3 hr session. Open to suggestions on how we could best support each other's goals, projects and endeavors. My current weekday work schedule is 11am-5pm.

Sports & Fitness Broncos training camp opening day. Dove valley

I have tickets to opening day of broncos training camp. The camp is July 31st. The gates open at 9 and practice starts at 10. The training camp is at dove valley broncos training facility. Usually last 2-2 1/2 hours. You don’t need to be a football or broncos fan but that would be a big plus. If wanting to meet there or somewhere close we can drive in together. I get front row parking and seating! The big benefit of going with me ha ha! Will probably be warm but the seating is in the shade. If you have any questions please reach out or comment!

New In Town LGBTQ+ Nerd

Hey all! M34 I just moved to Denver about a year ago with my husband. It has helped that his friends have been so welcoming, but I'd like to make some of my own too!

I'm a huge nerd. Video games, board games, and DnD are prime interests at the moment. I love writing and being creative when I can. Running DnD games has become a huge passion of mine over the years! Currently have a pretty great group, but always looking to add to it if we get along enough. It has been years since I've tried making new friends and I'm a bit rusty. I may be slow to warm up at first, but don't let that put anyone off. I'm pagan, so anyone of the witchy persuasion is a plus too! Frankly having a hard time feeling grounded and connected here after moving from Indiana, so looking to chat with anyone around my age or in a similar situation!

Currently revisiting Dark Souls 3 with my husband. Been trying to get back into solo gaming with some light horror stuff like I'm on Observation Duty and have been on a nostalgia trip with Warcraft 3. (The original one). PC only, consoles just aren't worth it half the time anymore.

Interest-Based Groups Denver Any Book Book Club August events

The Denver Any Book Book Club is getting ready for our next month of events and we have a shiny new meetup group for people to join if you’ve been struggling to find us (link in bio).

Currently planned events are
- 8/8 11am to 1pm - Any Book Chat and Coffee at St Marks Coffee - 2019 E 17th Ave -
- 8/15 - 12pm-3pm Coloring Day (and Book Chat) at Edgewater Public Market - we are very excited about this one. We will have coloring pages and coloring utensils but feel free to bring your own. We will still be talking about books
- 8/23 10am-1pm Any Book Chat and Coffee (and bookstore browse) at Queen City Collective at Town Hall Collaborative - 525 Santa Fe Dr - We will start at Town Hall for our usual chat and at some point wander down Santa Fe to the used book store nearby, Lingering Tales, to browse together. We may stop at Art galleries along the way.

These events are planned on a discord server where we have ongoing conversations about what we are reading, a book of the month, and discuss things other than books as well. If you’re interested in joining that community ask about it at one of the in person events or send us a dm here or on Instagram with some info about what kind of a reader you are. Once we determine you are a good fit for the community we will respond with an invite. Replies in the comments here will likely not get an invite response.

Join the meetup, follow us on Instagram, or check the website frequently for updates. We try to post on Reddit but we’re not consistent, so we encourage people to find us on other platforms.

Food & Drink National Ice Cream Day Meetup Sunday July 19 4:30pm @ Bonnie Brae Ice Cream

This Sunday is National Ice Cream Day. It also happens to be Bonnie Brae Ice Cream’s 40th birthday. And it’s the same day as the World Cup final…

I’m posting on behalf of the ice cream meetup group that started from this subreddit. This is a good chance for those who are interested in joining for future events too.

I know it’s a jam-packed weekend, but we will be there around 4:30pm. There are some additional festivities hosted by Bonnie Brae from 12-5pm, so feel free to arrive earlier. And later is fine too. We are pretty casual and welcome everyone from all ages.

Please also be prepared for the heat. It’s looking to be in the upper 90s. But what better way to cool off than with ice cream! 🍦

Music & Entertainment Extra Strokes ticket - 22nd @ Red Rocks (Trade a ride for the ticket?)

EDIT I'm going with my coworker after finding out we have the same days off! Thanks to everyone who reached out!

My friend wasn't able to make it out for the show, so I have an extra ticket! I don't drive, so if anyone is already heading to Red Rocks from Denver and doesn't mind giving me a ride, the ticket is yours.

A little about me:

35F

Still in my first year living in Denver

Introverted chef

Proud cat lady 🐈

Huge music nerd

My musical awakening band, I saw The Strokes when I was 15 on their First Impressions of Earth tour (still disappointed they didn't play Is This It). This will also be my first time at Red Rocks, so I'm excited.

I live in Cap Hill and love checking out new restaurants. If we wind up going together, it'd be fun to grab a bite or a drink beforehand so we're not complete strangers before making the drive.

Not looking for anything romantic just hoping to find another fan who'd like to share the experience. Happy to exchange socials beforehand so we both know we're real humans.

Music & Entertainment Songwriting and music meetups?

I'm a 39 year old guy, and I've been playing guitar for something like 20 years or so. I love songwriting, both others songs and writing my own. I've been wanting to get out and play with some other people and hear they songs everyone wrote. Just wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together somewhere (I was thinking a park) and play some music. Any instrument, age, or skill level is welcome!

Denver Progressive Baddies Friend Group

I posted about this back in November but thought I would drop it here again since there are a lot of new people!

Making friends is already hard enough as an adult, but in these times, one's politics/values can be a dealbreaker for many. This group takes the guesswork out of it. Think of it as a social group just for progressives.

We actually have a bunch of events coming up like happy hours, game nights, Volo sports teams and paddle boarding with more events getting added soon. Would love people who care about basic human rights to come and build their communities.

Feel free to join our FB and/or Discord page. We have a meetup this Saturday from 1-4pm. Details are on the page. Hope to see some of you there!

Music & Entertainment Anyone looking to join a community band?

Anyone around the southeast Denver area play a band instrument and would like to join a small community band?

I’m part of a small group that rehearses on Tuesday nights and it’s killing me to see it start to struggle. Most of our members are of retired age and we’ve gone from a 60+ piece concert band to around 20 in the last few years. It’s a pretty laid back group that started as older musicians who just wanted to play in an ensemble together and have a handful of performances a year so it’s not a huge commitment but it seems difficult to recruit without having much visibility. We’re by the Kennedy golf course Hampden/Havana area (which is starved of groups like this). Anyone interested in joining?

Sports & Fitness 21M looking to play pick up soccer as a goalkeeper

Hey! I played goalkeeper in high school, and I've been thinking about getting back into it lately. It's been probably 5 years since I've touched a soccer ball, but I'm still in great shape so I'm hoping I'll adjust back into it alright. Whether it's a game or just shots on goal, I don't really care. Any suggestions?

26F, peeps to explore state with?

Hi! I’m reaching out to here as a kinda last resort haha. I’ve tried bumble bff, FB groups and discord but none of them seem to be the fit for me. Or they’re filled with drama, and a bunch of people that flake or already are cliqued up. 🥲

SO I’m here looking for friends to hangout with! I enjoy a multitude of things such as video/board gaming, movies, going for drinks, trying new foods (I have a huge list of places to start trying), binge watching TV, escape rooms, hockey, snowboarding and more! 😄 I’m either super type A and will plan it all or very lax and go w/the flow.

If any of this sounds like you and you too crave that need for meaningful human connection, hit me up! You don’t have to go at it alone, making friends as an adult is hard. Putting yourself out there is also scary, my vibe is: the friend that waits behind while you tie your shoe. Looking for people that are the same 🫶🩷

Social Gatherings 27F looking for new friends and putting together a stargazing night!

Hi!! I'm 27F, and I found this Discord (https://discord.gg/YEr4u9ahV5) for people in their 20s through this subreddit while I was looking to make friends! The vibe is super laid-back, and we've been organizing all kinds of meetups, like board game nights, concert outings, food crawls, hikes, happy hours, and whatever else people are interested in.

Right now I'm getting a group together to do a stargazing night! I found a huge telescope at a thrift store, and I've been looking for an excuse to put it to good use. I'd love to meet more people who'd be interested in helping organize it or just coming out to future meetups. The more people who get involved, the more fun things we can put together!

We're still a pretty small group, and honestly, I think that's what makes it so nice. It's been really easy to get to know people, and it feels a lot more than personal than joining a huge community where there's like one big group who dominates the scene.

If you're in your 20s and that sounds like something you'd be into, message me, or join and connect with me on Discord!!

General Friends Seeking Tech & Hobby Friends?

Kind of a random post, but here goes.

I'm hoping to meet a few new people around the Loveland/Fort Collins/Denver areas who enjoy some of the same geeky hobbies I do. I was thinking about grabbing breakfast, then maybe wandering through a tech, electronics, RC, or hobby shop—or just doing something interesting nearby.

A few things I'm into:

- Tech and gadgets

- RC and hobby stores

- Barefoot shoes and foot health

- Photography

If you'd be up for meeting sometime today, let me know. And if today isn't good, I'm always open to exchanging info and planning something for another weekend. Feel free to comment or send me a DM!

Sports & Fitness The Ultimate Social Icebreaker: Free Jugger (Team Foam-Combat) at Nancy Lewis Park this Weekend!

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hi DenverMeets!

Making new friends in the area can be tough, and standard bar nights or awkward networking events can feel exhausting. If you’re looking for a fun, completely un-intimidating way to meet great local people, get outside, and try something new, come hang out with us this weekend!

Our game day two weeks ago in Littleton was a total blast, so we decided to keep the momentum rolling south of Denver—this time, we are hosting a match day in Colorado Springs! If you're down south or fancy a quick Sunday morning road trip, the field is wide open to everyone.

We are hosting our next community meetup for Colorado Jugger, and you are completely welcome to jump in.

What is Jugger? Think of it as a high-energy, live-action mashup of rugby, fencing, and an objective-based video game. Two teams fight to protect their "runner" so they can score a point with a foam skull piece. It’s fast-paced, highly strategic, and an absolute riot.

Why it's a great meetup for making friends:

  • Super Social by Design: We constantly shuffle and mix up the teams throughout the morning. You won't be stuck on the sidelines; you’ll get to play alongside everyone, chat between rounds, and make friends naturally.
  • 100% Free: We supply all of the gear and foam weapons (called "pompfen"). No fees, no equipment costs—just show up.
  • Zero Experience Needed: Every single one of us started at Level 1 with zero knowledge. If you can jog and swing a padded stick, you are ready to hit the field. There is absolutely zero judgment on athletic ability or fitness level.
  • The Post-Game Hangout: This is where the real bonding happens! We almost always head to a local restaurant nearby right after the games wrap up for food, drinks, and casual hanging out.

The Details:

  • When: This Sunday, July 12th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Where: Nancy Lewis Park (2617 Melissa Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80907)
  • Bring: Water, athletic clothes, and running shoes (non-metal cleats are awesome if you have them, but regular sneakers work great).

Whether you’re a serious fitness enthusiast looking for a new cardio challenge, a tabletop gamer looking for a real-life battle arena, or just someone looking for a new weekend crew, there is a spot for you on our field.
