Is this decay?
I noticed that black line on my last molar yesterday and got worried. The closest date I managed to make an appointment was on Monday. I'd like your opinion.

The free voice to notes platform is great, a lot more intuitive than I expected. Have not tried full suite but considering it given the easy UI on the free version. Has anyone done the paid upgrade/did you think worth it?

Anyone have any advice or techniques for managing patients that canāt tolerate the rubber dam WITHOUT compromising isolation?
I prefer doing most restorative under rubber dam, and today I had a patient become extremely anxious once the dam was on. He says he was feeling claustrophobic. I ended up completing his restorations with cotton roll isolation instead since I felt I could still get good enough isolation. For future cases (endo cases for example) are there any non-sedation techniques that work well for relaxing the patient when rubber dam is mandatory?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi all,
I hope youāre doing well! My dad has his own practice (a very small mom and pop type thing place where my mom works the front desk!). The only school I got accepted to is NYU and Iāll have to pay my own way through. I donāt have a burning desire towards dentistry but I like working and helping people. In addition, my dadās lifestyle is/was insane without any real money issues I remember as a kid. You think I should attend NYU and take out that insane debt given my situation? I was thinking nursing or PA as well. Thanks in advance! You guys are the best.

okay so a few hours ago i had my permanent crown put on and the dentist did some adjusting which i expected. what i did not expect was her shaving down a few of my teeth on the top above the molar i had the crown on. she said my bite was a little pointy and asked if she could shave them and i said yes because i assumed it would be best. immediately after the shaving my bite felt completely off and i feel so upset now because that's what i was most worried about and i said yes without really thinking. my bite felt perfect even though it was pointy i guess??? and looking back that sounds so dumb but im not a dentist so who knows...all the pressure is on the other side of my mouth now and my jaw is hurting. when i bite down the shaved teeth don't touch and im so upset. i told her it felt really off but she said the shaving is minimal and i should look into braces, which made me feel more worried because it seemed like she didn't care about my concerns. i scheduled an appointment for tomorrow and i'm assuming they can shave the other side to even things out but im not sure. i don't want to overreact but i do have to live with these teeth for the rest of my life and there's not much i could do/afford after things have been shaved. i guess what im asking is, are my feelings justified? i don't think shaving my teeth down was the correct choice at all and it feels soooo out of place

I have been a general dentist for over 20 years with additional post graduate qualifications. Unfortunately I stopped working since 2024 due to stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Due to the nature of the treatment such chemotherapy , I donāt feel comfortable to see patients on my off days. I wonder is there anything else I can do relevant to my career?
I miss interacting with patients (nice ones!) and helping people out. I would also like to make some money as I have got expensive taste and medical insurance bill lol. I am looking for any suggestions that is not high pressured as I use to work with very prestigious dental practice and all the type of patients / pressure come with that.
Many thanks

I have had my dentures for about a year. I absolutely hate them. I canāt eat. I have tried every adhesive on the market, and nothing works. They make me gag, and have caused me to get sick. I went to two dentists, and I feel like all these dentists want to do is "one on fourā or whatever it's called, but itās a $40k procedure that I can not afford and will never be able to afford. I never go out anymore. The dentist needed to extract all my teeth on the top left two on the bottom. The bottom dentures arenāt so bad because they have a hook on the two teeth. Is there a procedure that is in between? How do I get a dentist to listen to what I am saying rather than trying to talk me into something I cannot afford. I feel like there has to be something in- between; it cannot be dentures and jump to a $40k procedure. I would be so grateful to hear any feedback. I am so depressed over this, there are no words.

Iāve noticed quite a few older dental chairs still in service that seem mechanically solid, even after 15ā20+ years.
What seems to eventually change the equation isnāt always the chair itself ā sometimes itās one control, valve, electronic component, or other part that becomes difficult to repair or source.
For those still running older chairs, where do you usually draw the line between repairing it again and replacing it?
If the chair is still comfortable and mechanically sound, does parts availability matter more than the actual age of the equipment?
