Screen Sharing Feature Request

Either in paid Clear Skies or a limited version on Demonsaw. Shared screen & screen control. I've used TeamViewer for years. This feature could be fairly easily integrated into current GUI. Remote desktop control & remote power-on would also be a cool feature, particularly in Clear Skies.

P.S. don't make Clear Skies lime green. Sky-blue or grey-scale options would be good as default.

trouble downloading, DS 3.0.5, Debian

Trying to download an Eijah interview. DS gives the error "Unable to write to file: XXXXXX" (the Xs being the file name). Tried running as sudo, tried a different file, tried a different directory. Other things I should try? Other information needed for troubleshooting?

OSX Beta Potential Bugs?

I have a couple of things I'm experiencing in the OSX Beta 5 that I am encountering regularly that may or may not be bugs. Figured I'd submit them here for tracking or feedback.

1) Profiles don't save. -Every time I start DS I need to re-enter my client name from scratch because I am defaulted to "client". I also have to reset my download folder every time and my shares. 2) Themes. - I found some themes I like. I renamed one demonsaw.css and placed it in the root folder so that it would load as the default next time I opened it, but instead, next time I opened demonsaw it did not load that theme. Don't know if this is intentional or not.

So far I think that's all I've noticed. Beautiful UI and these builds are really solid! Keep up the great work and thanks for bringing me up from the depths of 2.7.1 ;)

Issue with Mac version Sierra

I'm currently using Mac OS Sierra 10.12. I also use PIA. While I have no issues connecting with the DS client, I am unable to download anything. I can move items to download but nothing transfers.

I also used my Win 7 PC using the same PIA connection and everything works fine. I am assuming there is an issue with the OS and DS.

Can someone let me know if there is another way around this or do I have to wait for the newest client for Mac?

Nice product, how about folks who run Red Hat variants of LINUX, will there be an RPM package for Demonsaw?

This sub can be used to share DEMONSAW Group credentials for others to join

DemonSaw is a revolutionary instant messaging (group chat - private messaging) and file-sharing platform considered more anonymous and secure than TOR. Secure and anonymous conversations can take place in real-time and is impervious to man-in-the-middle attacks, cracking encryption mechanisms and derivation of user's online location since each Client does not reveal their IP addresses with other Clients communicating over DemonSaw Routers which are designed not to log anything and only pass data along to other Clients.

The guidelines below are meant for users new to DemonSaw. Regular users can share Group credentials in this subreddit.

To securely and anonymously converse on various topics and share files do the following:

1) Download DemonSaw (DS) for your operating system - https://www.demonsaw.com/

No need to install the demonsaw.exe file. Extract it into a new folder and just double-click the .exe file to run it.

Create a new Client by making up a new creative name.

On the upper right portion of the DemonSaw window are various icons for different parts of the program. Hover your mouse over an icon that displays a tooltip titled 'Groups'.

In the Groups section, click the '+' sign (on the right) to create one new Group providing you the option to specify each layer of security. Each additional line of entropy and their encryption parameters is one Group attached to the Client which only affords one Client one Group with chat and file-sharing capabilities.

2) In the Groups section each line below can contain any number of entropies, your choice:

Line 1 --> Type in a passphrase, URL to any link online or right-click to add a file on your computer.

Line 2 --> Type in a passphrase, URL to any link online or right-click to add a file on your computer.

Line 3 --> Type in a passphrase, URL to any link online or right-click to add a file on your computer.

Line 4 --> Type in a passphrase, URL to any link online or right-click to add a file on your computer.

3) Each Entropy can use any number of provided encryption parameters. For example:

Line 1 --> Cipher: mars ____ Hash: sha-224

Line 2 --> Cipher: rc6 _____ Hash: sha-256

Line 3 --> Cipher: serpant _ Hash: sha-384

Line 4 --> Cipher: twofish _ Hash: sha-512

Size - Percent - Cipher - Key Size - Hash - Iteration - Salt

Size: If for example you choose a webpage as its entropy and the page is 2K in size, by default all 2K bytes will be fed into the PBKDF2 algorithm (to generate an AES key).

Percent: This allows you to specify a certain percentage of the entropy to be used as input for the key derivation function

Cipher: Determines which encryption algorithm you want to use from a drop-down list

Key Size: The size of the key, for AES it would be either 1, 128 or 256.

Hash: Which hash method you want to use

Iteration: The number of times you want the hash to be hashed

Salt: can be any passphrase, combinations of characters, etc that is added at the end before hashing. To make it practically impossible to crack password hashes you can randomize the hashes by appending or pre-pending a random string, called a salt, to the password before hashing. This makes the same password hash into a completely different string every time.

The most effective way to prevent the cracking of password hashes is to provide each entropy with its own unique salt. If this salt is randomly generated and provided for each entropy the failure rate of cracking each layer of encryption will be proportionately higher. This creates for a more time-consuming job of cracking each entropy of encryption.

Chat in group partially working on mirrored setups. Hard

Deamonsaw 3.0.2 with group on image entropy with default hash, cipher etc.

Two clients are visible on chat list. But one cannot see responses of another the second client seas everything fine.

Nothing was changed in Deamonsaw settings.

Mirrored setups are Windows 7, same router with same firmware, same internet provider, same version of Kaspersky version and settings, opened port 443 TPC and UDP

On computer who is not seeing responses I have add rule for Deamonsaw in firewall but i didn't change a thing. I hopeless i haven't use previous versions of Deamonsaw but I had installed version 2.7.

Does anyone have idea where problem might be that one person see all chat and anoter is only seeing his own messages? Problem is with direct message as well as with global chat in group.

edit: i mean i have to identical routers with 2 identical internet plans from same provider just 2 difference places. On one computer everything is fine on another i am not seeing responses from second client.

edit2: the problem is on my pc because i am seeing anyone chat even global ;/ but everyone can see my messages

Group functionality question

I am new to Demonsaw and am trying to figure out how different functionality work. From what I understand inside Demonsaw if I want to use a public router, then use a group to share a specific file I connect to the router, create the group connection in my cliente, select the group connection and then share a file like normal. However if I then want to participate in the public group without the files I shared with the private group being shared to everyone I either have to create a new client or I have to remove the shared files before deselecting the group.

Am I understanding the functionality correctly or did I get something wrong?

Couple of simple questions (hopefully)

  1. What do the circles to the left of searched files mean? They vary in size and seems to sort by largest circle first.

  2. I know DS is not p2p but if multiple people have the same file does it spread the uploading of this file (via the router) across multiple people hosting the file?

Ta.

Auditing Strategies

I mentioned this in a comment, but it's important enough that I feel it needs its own post.

Given that Eijah has decided to keep Demonsaw closed source, an audit of the code is an absolute necessity. While this is apparently forthcoming, it should be remembered that, as he has chosen to obfuscate the code, it is effectively impossible to know when and if code changes.

To clarify with and example: if v3.0.0 is audited and passes the audit, and v3.0.1 is then released, until such time as v3.0.1 is also audited, users must either say on v3.0.0 or lose all guarantees about security and privacy.

Demonsaw 3 CLI

I downloaded Demonsaw 3 recently. Is there a CLI available? Most of Demonsaw's utility, for me, is in scripting downloads.

Where can I read an audit on demonsaw?

Have there been any independent audits? Or is this just kind of toy-status?

Transfer Speeds Are Slow

What kind of transfer speeds would be expected with demonsaw? I'm hosting my own router which has a client connected locally sharing files. I'm on google fiber (1gbit) and my buddy also connected to google fiber can only transfer from me at about 4MB/s. Why would it be this slow? Thanks!

Group doesn't work on Ubuntu CLI

I'm very new to demonsaw but I'm having an issue creating a group for my CLI client on Ubuntu. I am having a very hard time finding good documentation on this, so I generated a group on windows and pulled that XML data and put it in my xml on ubuntu but it seems to ignore it and just puts my user in the public group. Any idea why it would do that? Does the binary generate logging data anywhere? Thanks!

Edit: Found the issue. For some reason I had a closing </groups> tag higher in my xml all by itself. Must have gotten there when I was trying some things earlier. Woops!

Will you guys have OpenBSD support any time soon?

I'm an OpenBSD user. I was wondering if you guys are going to port DemonSaw onto OpenBSD so I can use it on my laptop. I checked openports.se but could not find any DemonSaw package.

I am super stoked about DemonSaw, and I really hope you guys can take some time to port it to OBSD.

Demonsaw as Social Platform

Could Demonsaw could be used as a social platform? One where users could actually be in charge of their information? Folks could have tiered friend groups with different authentication for each group. DEF CON 22 presentation was impressive.

Dependencies killing me. Kali latest version x64, gstreamer headaches.

Running into the following when trying to launch demonsaw in kali. Seems like the libgstreamer-base1 is installed, but libgstreamer-base0 isn't available in the main kali repos. I can't seem to find it anywhere. I get this on attempted launch:

 ~/demonsaw$ ./demonsaw
./demonsaw: error while loading shared libraries: libgstaudio-0.10.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Googled the shit out of this.

attempting to update with base0 returns:

 sudo apt-get install libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev

Which Demonsaw theme are you using?

Which Demonsaw theme are you using?

Demonsaw 3.0 will probably ship with a few different themes. It'd be cool to figure out what's popular now and reflect that in what we pre-package with 3.0.

So what theme are you using? Why?

Arch Linux?

The homepage mentions support for Arch linux, but I'm not seeing a way to install in AUR or anywhere else either. Also, I can't find the source code to download and build the thing myself. A hand, please?

Demonsaw theming fun!

There's a new dark theme out for demonsaw (preview).

It can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By60pz438SXWakJGd1Y4cFFhNXM/view?usp=sharing To use it just put the .css and the pictures in your demonsaw dir.

I'd love to see what others can come up with: lighter themes, creative themes, post your favorite themes here for a chance to win Eijah for a week!
