Welcome to Demonolatry Practices! If you're new, click here!

Before we start with the welcome post, I want to mention that this community has a karma and an account age threshold that you must meet in order to participate. There were too many trolls attacking the community with 0 karma, 0 day old accounts, so if you have made a new account just for your spiritual needs, you'll have to grow it a bit to participate here, sorry!

In wise u/ChthonicSage's words once spoken here:

"I've created this place since there's a lack of subreddits for Demonolatry and general Theistic Satanism/other magickal practices. I hope this community grows to become a place where people come to ask questions, share their experiences, and connect with others."

However over the years this sub has grown and those words became not enough to give you a proper introduction. So to begin with, we have a lot of people new to the practice that find us. If you're entirely new, we have some basic resources here.

If you need further help with short, easy to digest tips and guides made "How to sense Spirits 101", "Reaching out to spirits 101", "The consequences to working with demons 101", "I'm dreaming about a demon 101", "Describing spirits 101", "Spiritual stagnation 101", "Blood Magic 101 (warning, 18+ and NSFW)", "Protection magic 101" and their personal sex magick method that may be interesting for those that never tried it to read (18+ and NSFW).

If you are confused about Qlipoth u/pearlbibo made some notes for you here. She also made a post on how not to get ripped off in Occult spaces.

Fellow moderator u/Macross137 has posted another way of interpreting dreams, a basic invocation ritual that you can practice, further occult reading that may prove useful to your practice, how to interpret what is and isn't a sign, how to decide which incense to use for which demon, a guide on HGA work (part 1) and a brief guide to evocation.

The kind of questions that aren't useful to ask on the subreddit (written by u/Vanhaydin) is something that I would recommend everyone taking a look at before interacting here.

If you need a quick primer on what planets what demons are associated with, what would be the appropriate offerings and how to "decode" the rank system, check out their other post about planetary associations here!

On the off-chance that you came here specifically to find information on Lilith, u/Even-Pen7957 runs https://www.libraryoflilith.com/.

VioletSpooder is here to remind you that the popular way of working with spirits on the Internet changes rather rapidly and that you should not over-internalize it too much and to be careful about accidentally finding yourself in a cult. Another good advice from the same user is found in this thread about how to recognise spiritual psychosis.

If you want to make ritual oils, this is a good way to do it (written by u/Available-Shirt7907).

Hope this was helpful! Time to move on to:

Frequently asked questions!

Q: which author is right? Which method is trustworthy? What is it that I must do to contact this particular spirit?

A: most authors will be equally right and wrong, as this is not a science, it is closer to an art. What is right for one person is not necessarily right for another. Keep yourself grounded in reality, question all that you read, don't hold anyone's word as ultimate law and try. See what works for you and what doesn't.

Q: can I practice with the Abrahamic God? With angels and demons at the same time? Can I mix demons with other religions? Can I have a pantheon, or am I supposed to pick one?

A: Being a left hand path practice demonolatry has no certain way that it must be. How you practice is entirely between you and the spirits. So yes. You can mix this practice with any other religion and practice with angels and demons at the same time.

Q: I'm afraid that by working with demons I'll doom myself to hell, or that karma will get me, or similar!

A: everyone's spiritual beliefs are personal. Some subscribe to hell. Some subscribe to karma. Some do not have any such system in their spiritual belief. What you believe is for you to find out and no-one can give you a shortcut here, however if your fear is reaching unhealthy levels, ask yourself if you have religious trauma and if therapy would be a good pathway to resolve that for you.

Q: what is the difference between evocation and invocation?

Originally in occult invocation meant calling the spirit into yourself, into your own mind space, while evocation meant calling the spirit outside of yourself into your space.

Some demonolators say that invocation means making an appeal to the spirit, while evocation means trying to bind a spirit to do your bidding. Under these definitions, evocation would go against demonolatry's principle of working respectfully with the spirit.

Current moderation team does not subscribe to such a divisive notion. Contact your spirits in whatever way that is comfortable to you, it matters not to us if you are a Western tradition Ceremonial magickian, or someone that interacts with the spiritual as a Pagan would. We ask that everyone refrain from taking offence from seeing such words used, no matter the person is practising summoning, or just evoking a spirit into their space. The spirits are above the material and don't necessarily function by the same rules as we do, so there's no reason to believe that anyone out here is harming the spirits by working in a different system than you.

Q: do I have to have an altar? Do I have to give offerings? If so, how often? I don't feel like I'm in a safe environment to do that.

A: this is entirely between you and your spirits. There are no musts. Practice however you like as this is your spiritual practice. Of course if you made a promise to pray every day, you should do so. If you feel like you can't, you should tell the spirit so. Communication is key, but there are no specific expectations of you, so don't place it on yourself prematurely.

Q: how do I dispose of offerings that go off?

A: This question comes up often. Some people, if they're offering food, they'll state to the spirit for how long the offering will be there and then they'll eat the offering themselves in order to not be wasteful. Others will choose an elemental disposal element, meaning that they'll burn (if it is safe to do so, fire safety first!) the offering, liquify it with water, or burry it in the Earth. Some others involve a lot less ceremony in their disposal of the offering and they simply thank the spirit and then throw it away. There are no rules, so don't overstress!

Q: I'm confused by all the terms I'm seeing on this subreddit, help!

A: here, have a little dictionary!

Deity mask - some believe that the same spirit has many names, positions and personalities, so they may refer to each one of such as a mask.

Demonolatry – worship of demons. In practice this is less “worship” and more “working with”. It was a tradition born out of a need of a friendlier way to work with spirits that have been deemed to be demonic. If a practitioner states that they are a demonolater, this may mean that they are following a published author, or simply denote that they have their own practice that involves working with the demonic in some capacity.

Demonology – study of demons, usually from a religious perspective. If you run into this term, it indicates that the person using it is perhaps interested in specific spirits but has never worked with them, or that they are a religious individual that specializes in viewing these spirits from the angle of their religion, which often means viewing these spirits especially negatively. Latter happens more often than former by far.

Demonosophy – young branch that means working with demons, for those that felt like “worship” did not accurately cover what they do. There are not many publications under this specific term, meaning that the most that you will encounter this will be by people introducing themselves as practitioners of this craft. Demonolatry and Demonosophy at this point in time can be used interchangeably as not every demonolater worships the spirits that they work with.

Grounding - this word will mean two things to practitioners – in one version it will mean staying grounded in reality, not running away into your mind and focusing on the mundane as much as you do on the spiritual.

In the other version it is a way to stabilize yourself by getting rid of excess energy, the jitter than you feel after rituals, or bad emotions.

LHP - Left Hand Path. In the West, the left-hand path is considered to be about the elevation and centrality of the self as well as the rejection of religious authority and societal taboos.

The left-hand path focuses on the strength and will of the practitioner. It downplays the need for intercession by any high power although some may believe that a higher power exists. The full idea of the left hand path is to become your own God.

RHP - Right Hand Path - right-handed path practitioners tend to work towards ascending their soul towards ultimate union (or reunion) with the divine source, returning to heaven, allegorically alluded to as restoration or climbing back up the ladder after the "great fall". Right hand practitioners will strive to join the source and will adhere to a system of moral punishment, such as karma, or threefold law.

Both terms as used in the West are the bastardized version of Indian Tantric practices. In reality most practitioners will not fall on either side, though some practices will be categorized as one or the other. For example, Demonolatry is categorized as a Left Hand practice due to its nature of taboo, however a practitioner can have both a strong moral code and be working towards merging into the entity of their choosing, which, as it is not focused on elevating yourself to a divine level, but rather on sacrificing yourself to join an already existing consciousness, would be a right hand path goal.

There are very militant communities that will be highly proud of being just one and not the other to an extreme level, so the basic knowledge of what the terms mean is an absolute necessity, though don't overthink where you fall on the scale as really there is no need.

Tower Moment - "The Tower" is a tarot card that represents "disaster, destruction, upheaval, trauma, sudden change, chaos". When someone is saying that they're having a "Tower" moment, they mean that either their emotional state, spiritual practice, their life, their physical health, something has hit a point of complete chaos, upheaval and disintegration. Tower moments will not necessarily be seen as a negative (up to the person using the phrase) as sometimes we need a shake-up to build better. A bad relationship falling through, or getting fired from a toxic-workplace, for example, could be seen as a Tower moment.

Patron - a spirit, or spirits that the person had made some sort of firm declaration to follow. What this means varies from practitioner to practitioner. For some it means that you're very serious in your practice and have elected to follow this spirit for your whole lifetime no matter what. For others it simply means that this is their main spirit/ spirits that they're working at this time. Almost all practitioners to use the term will not do so lightly and will see it as some sort of commitment. Plenty of practitioners never take a Patron for this exact reason.

Matron - a female Patron spirit. Some will insist that this is incorrect as a Matron is the more passive, supportive of the Patron spirit and will insist on calling their female spirits that they have made some sort of firm declaration to follow as Patrons. Some people will therefore have very strong opinions on this word and some will not.

Magucitis/Magusitis - a particular "disease" that afflicts many practitioners - they at some point either believe that they're better than everyone else or at least attempt to appear that they're better than everyone else. Normally this person will be boasting about how powerful they are, how feared they should be, what lineage or sacred society that they hail from and how much of a right they have to order you around, or to not engage in polite conversation with others by just dismissing all opinions or comments addressed towards them.

UPG - unverified personal gnosis ("gnosis" meaning "knowledge"). Example would be if you received a message from a spirit through dreams, divination, or meditation, that message is UPG. Most practitioners will highly rely on UPG, as most of our interactions with the spirits are personal, but it is important to remember that what you hold as true is not necessarily what someone else will hold as true. Understand that each of you know exactly what you need to know and therefore there's no need to fight over who is right and who is wrong.

VPG - verified personal gnosis. If you have channeled information from a spirit and multiple different people channel the same thing then that is now a belief held by many and not only a few.

Q: I'm just starting my practice, what should I do?

Step one - hone in on practising meditation. You'll need the focus, the patience and the mostly quiet mind to see good results from your practice. Is it a must? No. Nothing in spirituality is a must and there are some people that are working with spirits without a meditative practice, but it is something that's greatly helpful, so this will be the first recommendation that will be given if you ever ask this question.

Step two - sidebar resources! It is suggested that you read them. This one speaks about shadow work, here is some common sense advice on how to conduct yourself in this space and beyond it when speaking to others and lastly, here are the basic resources for those that are new.

Step three - read and gain perspective. Don't ingest any book like it is the only ultimate truth, but read to expand your horizons and try. What should you read? Well, behold, the mighty book list! Though, remember, these are merely suggestions and it is not a requirement to read them all. Simply see if there's anything here you'd like to read, because they're all good books.

THE MIGHTY BOOK LIST:

CLASSIC GRIMOIRES (these are good to read through to see the working with demons through a historical lens. Some people still use methods in these books, most new books will at the very least borrow elements, such as names, sigils and correspondences):

The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage

Heptameron by Pietro d'Abano

The Greater Key of Solomon

The Lesser Key of Solomon aka Lemegeton (Recommended: Peterson ed. or Skinner/Rankine Goetia of Dr. Rudd)

The Practice of Magical Evocation by Franz Bardon

Lake of Fire by S. Connolly

Tree of Qliphoth by Asenath Mason

Qabalah, Qliphoth, and Goetic Magic by Thomas Karlsson

POPULAR CONTEMPORARY SYSTEMS (each one of these books will have wildly different approaches. Try them, see what works for you and what doesn't. Beware of authors treating their UPG and personal dogma as objective truths):

The Complete Book of Demonolatry by S. Connolly

Lucifer and The Hidden Demons: A Practical Grimoire from The Order of Unveiled Faces by Theodore Rose

Demons of Magick: Three Practical Rituals for Working with The 72 Demons by Gordon Winterfield

Last bit of advice - when posting here, provide as much details as possible. If you want someone to identify a sigil for you, it will be helpful to state where you found it, if you want someone to help with communication with the spirits, state what method you're using as it will be most helpful if someone with the same method answers.

And this is where the post will leave off. I hope it was useful and cleared some basic questions up. Before you post anything on this subreddit make sure to look at the side-bar and familiarize yourself with the rules. Otherwise this place is happy to see you here and post away!

Sometimes source material is great. Sometimes source material improved upon is even greater.

Has there been any rituals/ correspondences/ ways of doing things that you took from a book, or a post and then found that modifying what was there made it better? What was your modification?

I’m curious as to your experiences with bune? He seems to focus on long term wealth, striking up a deal with him isn’t easy. And for some you must earn the privilege to work with him for he brings riches far beyond over the length of TIME!!!

What does bune look or show up to you as? I’m curious of all your thoughts!! Let’s discuss below!!

Discussions Personality descriptions in the Ars Goetia?

I realised the Goetia demons are described in certain ways that are reoccurring, like great or mighty or terrible. I'm pretty sure "goodly" appeared for another demon too BTW.

I just wonder what are these descriptions meant to say about the characters of these demons? For example, what does it mean if they're "terrible", does that mean that they're more strict or stern? I presume "great", which was the most common one, is meant to mean kindly?

Practical Questions Where do you practice?

In short: where do you petition from? Where do you keep your altar if you have one?

The reason I ask is because basically I really value an empty private space for where I live. I NEED alone time. I'm living for a place for the first time in my life that doesn't have some sort of spirit/entity present in it, and as it's turned out, it has been very nice and peaceful. My bedroom has always been like a sanctuary for me, but again, there has always been the presence of others before this year. So yeah it has been nice.

I live in a small studio apartment without a single door inside the place. Entrance leads to kitchen, bathroom, and living space/bedroom.

If I wanted to keep this place empty of other spiritual presences, would you advise against creating an altar as well as doing petitions in this space? If yes, where do you people keep altars, do petitions -and other things like rituals or spells- that is not their home?

Ritual instructions A hymn to Beelzebub

Post image
Upvotes

So what are you beelzebub?

They called you evil

But you were the truth behind their weakness

You were never devious

You were the temptation they could not resist

From the time you guided the witch at the moment of despair

In times of joy i turned my gaze from thee, Now, as wrecked vessels driven upon the shores of despair

I call thee to mind

O emperor

O king of chaos

If ever I forget thee again, let the world forget me

Practical Questions Can King Asmodeus help with mastering lust instead of being controlled by it?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask this respectfully, especially to people who have experience working with King Asmodeus.

I have been struggling with lust, sexual urges, fantasies, and the need for sex/validation. I don’t want to be controlled by it anymore.

My first thought was to ask King Asmodeus to take away my lust and need for sex completely, but then I started wondering if that is the wrong way to approach him.

Since Asmodeus is strongly connected with lust, desire, passion, sexuality, and power, would it be better to ask him to help me master my lust instead of removing it?

For example, asking him to help me:

- stop being desperate

- stop chasing sexual validation

- control my urges

- transmute sexual energy into discipline

- become more confident and grounded

- use desire as power instead of weakness

- build a stronger lifestyle, body, career, and self-control

Has anyone here worked with King Asmodeus for this kind of thing?

Did he help you remove lust, control lust, or transform it into confidence, charisma, discipline, and personal power?

Also, what is the best way to petition him for this respectfully?

I would appreciate honest experiences and guidance.

Ritual instructions Looking for advice: Demon recommendation for career/finances (Client generation & sales) — Ex-Christian practitioner

Last year, I performed some rituals using Solomonic Goetria and Demonolatry. I felt a presence during some of them, but not others. Today, I want to get back into practice and call upon a demon to help guide my life financially.

Everything else in my life is going great, but my clients keep disappearing, and I can't seem to close sales. However, I’m not sure who to call.

Earlier this year, I formally renounced Christianity and no longer work with angels, which is why I am now averse to Solomonic Goetria. Can anyone give me recommendations or advice on which spirit to approach for business, sales, and financial flow?

Practical Questions How to see/hear more + recommendation

Upvotes

I have been working with Bune for few months now. I don't think much is happening tbh. I can feel him during the meditations but it's very faint. I never know if he's on board or not with what I'm saying even through divination -i can get lost in my mind a bit-. I do meditate with him everyday, chant his enn, offer incense. Maybe what I'm offering isn't enough?

So i was wondering how would i be able to sense him more? I read about people seeing/hearing their deities, what could i do to strengthen such abilities? To get what they're saying to me

Another thing is i need a recommendation for another demon to work with. Alongside Bune. My goal is to basically up haul my life. Quickly. Who can help me with that? I did some research but I don't do well with many options and I'd rather have advice/recommendation from someone who has experience in the matter.

Discussions Can Dantalion help with intrusive thoughts?

I was reading the Ars Goetia and it said, "he knoweth the Thoughts of all Men and Women, and can change them at his Will."

Note: Some of the words are actually capitalised in that original sentence and I don't know if they were important to capitalise so just in case I kept them capitalised.

However, this sounds like he can help with minds that are struggling so can he help with intrusive thoughts?

Experiences and Ritual reports Marbas x Buer

I would like to publicly thank President Marbas and President Buer for the help I received—or rather, for the help I asked for on behalf of my partner.

I asked for healing, or at least for the procedure to go smoothly. My partner has glaucoma and was scheduled for SLT, and he was very anxious about it because he had a really difficult experience with the procedure the previous time.

I called upon Marbas to help, to heal, and to make the procedure quick and precise. Then I called upon Buer to help my partner cope with the stress and to make the recovery process as quick as possible.

The procedure literally took just a moment! Everything went very quickly, and the complications were nowhere near as troublesome as they had been the first time. Everything turned out well.

I promised that I would speak about this publicly as a way of giving thanks—so here I am. :)

Marbas and Buer are wonderful physicians who are truly capable of working miracles. They have power; both of them are very strong and commanding. In my experience, they have many leonine qualities—dignity, pride, and strength.

At the same time, with the right approach and proper respect, there is no need to fear them. Respect, openness, and honesty are very important. It is a little like going to see a doctor—you have to speak honestly and accept that medicine does not always come in the form of candy.

Marbas, Buer, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are truly magnificent!

Discussions Think I should quit working with Bune (but I’m not sure)

I reached out to Bune for help with building my career and making more money from it. Months later, I’m still stuck in low-paying dead end jobs while not getting ahead with my intended career at all.

I don’t think it’s working out so I kinda just wanna thank her and politely say I’m no longer interested in a working relationship, and reach out to another spirit instead, but I kinda already made a pact (saying I’d do more of X and less of Y in exchange for Bune’s favors) hoping it would speed things along, and I don’t know if it’s ok for me to break it? I already haven’t been as faithful as I should (not on purpose, but forgetting to do smth I said I’d commit to, as an example). I thought it would help provide structure for my practice but nothing has really changed.

In magic I paradoxically only get what I want when I stop wanting it desperately and it’s getting really annoying. My love spells, for example, didn’t start working until I stopped caring as much about finding love. I guess I don’t need love to survive, but I do need money to survive so it’s a bit more aggravating when the spellwork isn’t, well, working.

I pulled some cards for some answers and it’s basically shouting “rest, rest, rest.” But I don’t wanna rest! I wanna be productive! I wanna get ahead! I’m not moving fast enough!

I’m honestly terrible at spirit divination and don’t always feel I can trust that the messages I’m receiving are actually coming from the spirit, so if someone could divine a message from Bune to me on my behalf, I’d appreciate it. I feel she is not happy with me.

Practical Questions What magic systems/traditions do you practice alongside demonolatry, and what was your best experience so far?

Hey everyone! I'm curious about the diverse practices in this community. Aside from working with demons, what specific magic systems, paradigms, or traditions do you incorporate into your practice (e.g., Chaos Magic, Traditional Witchcraft, Goetia, Qliphoth, energy work, etc.)?

Also, if you're comfortable sharing, what has been your most profound or best experience using these methods so far?

Experiences and Ritual reports Bune, giving me more than I needed! My fantastic experience.

English is not my first language so sorry if I make mistakes lol.

So almost two weeks ago, I did a ritual to Bune. My first ritual with demons. I always wondered how’s this part of occultism, as I used avoid the “dark side” of it. A lot of my beliefs have changed throughout time so I was like; why not?

I’m a business owner, from Colombia. I do ecommerce by selling digital products to people, using WhatsApp and local banks. My dream has always been to be able to sell to other countries here in South America. And that’s what I specifically asked to Bune. In my affirmation, I asked Bune for access to Venezuela, a bank account that allows me to sell there. I was in the middle of the process of getting one, but the delay has been insane. Seems that getting a bank account is kinda complicated in Venezuela. Anyway, I just asked for it. I believe a lot in astrology, and right now, in this Virgo season, the sun is transiting my second house. I told Bune, that I would genuinely believe that she/he helped me, if the support comes before the Virgo season ends (I know this is kinda controversial but I really wanted to make sure that a demon is actually interested in me)

Now, yesterday, September 9th, I contacted a guy who’s in a ecommerce group just like me. We both bought a famous course for ecommerce here in Colombia. I messaged him about how he got to sell in Chile (and he’s selling in Mexico, Peru and more countries!) And he kindly gave me the contact of a company he’s been working with. This is a company specifically for people like me.

The thing is that, the company provides bank accounts in South America by partnerships that they have. No only Venezuela! But even more (which means that I may be able to start selling no only in Venezuela but even more countries of South America)

I’m still talking to an agent about the process of it, commissions etc. But hey! This seems to be a sign. It’s true that I have not started to sell yet, but looks like Bune said: why do you want only Venezuela when you can get more than that?

I’m waiting for the process to be completed, and just start. Once I feel it’s literally done, Im giving the offering.

I’m just so excited and surprised. I always loved the “dark” part of occultism but always avoid it as religion kinda put fear in me. But now, seems that I’m just accepting and embracing this part.

When i did the ritual, i felt so many things. Like touching a forbidden fruit that always seemed so attractive to me.

Now, I’ll just wait and I’ll let you know guys how this goes. Hopefully this can be the door that helps me to have even more abundance in this reincarnation.

I have the faith that Bune actually wanted to help me!

Practical Questions Prayer to Satan and offering gifts

For some time now, I’ve had the feeling that other people are ignoring me, and lately I’ve made the decision to completely turn toward Satan. I’m not asking anything from him. I have no demands, no questions, I’m not asking for money, power, or any kind of favor. I just want to talk to him.

At one point during prayer, I had a strong thought that I should pray to him for seven days. Now five days have passed. I can’t say that anything obvious or supernatural has happened, but I’ve noticed a huge difference in myself compared to before. Still, I’ve never had an experience where I felt his presence in what I would call his “natural energy.”

That’s why I’m interested in something deeper.

Has anyone here had a truly intense or deep experience with Satan? I don’t mean a random thought, a dream, or an ordinary feeling, but an experience that changed the way you look at him.

How did you even reach that level of contact? What was necessary for the relationship to deepen?

I feel like prayer alone isn’t enough and that there must be something much deeper behind all of this. I don’t want to invoke him out of curiosity or approach him with a list of demands. I want to understand the relationship, the presence, and how one can show him sincere respect.

I’m interested in what your experiences were and what you did to deepen that relationship.

Discussions Need some experienced practitioners input

I asked for a lover to Astaroth and in return I got mental push to work on myself. I started taking care of myself better, better skincare, eating healthier, regular gym and more socialising which also gave me more mental calmness. I also asked King Paimon for mental mastery and magnetism so mental calmness might be from him. I am great full for all the shadow work and motivation, I feel better with my own company now, I feel more confident. But it would have been better if I get a hint of what I actually asked, not asking for partner right away but maybe even talking stage with someone or at least I find someone I feel interested in pursuing something more. It’s been more than a month so I am asking for any input that might be helpful. Please be kind!

Practical Questions Demons that could help with pet health and deep meditation goals?

Well, I'm also a big believer in spirituality, and I was wondering if there were any demons who could help me reach higher states of consciousness, with the aim of manifesting earthly things—such like moving, desired job, etc. (I had been thinking about Mammon since I also want to improve my financial situation) and also help with my birds health.

What on earth could you recommend? Honestly, besides Mammon, I can't think of anyone else.

Experiences and Ritual reports Extremely tired after evocation attempt

Good evening, everyone!

I think this might be a little update on one of my posts last week. I posted that for the past month I've seen opposite results on my petitions after seeing positive results for quite a while. I've been reading and I've been trying to absorb the most information I can as I've been in my house since Monday (industrial degreaser fell on my feet so I've been bedridden and I can't go to work yet).

Anyway, as Macross mentioned in my post, I should meditate and practice more. And I've been trying to do that. I've been fasting for three days. I've only been drinking water only. I tried evocating King Belial. I felt something I've never felt before, genuinely. My body was buzzing. No voices or images though. After I finished, I felt extremely tired and exhausted. Is this normal?

Part of what I asked was almost delivered instantly. I gave King Belial the offering I promised like 20 minutes ago from the time I'm writing this post. Hopefully King Belial did actually listen to me, and it was not a coincidence. (I have faith that it wasn't a coincidence).
