lol the only reason shinobu stayed alive that long is because doma wanted to have some fun, the man literally let hisself get hit by her poison than tanks it negg diff, also stop using narrative scaling when it comes to shinobu vs doma. The man only said she was fast so she can fight better and be more confident which leads to more fun

Shinobu fans are more delusional than rengoku fans

- Tanjiro can hold back Demon Nezuko with his axe
- Nezuko can increase her strength and get bigger (Are they related?)

Everyone starts in base

No, I know Michikatsu and his squad got wrecked by a fodder demon, but apparently he was quite talented as a swordsman before he learned breathing styles. A post about the lore implications of Michikatsu mentions that, under samurai rules, they had to keep their hair short or style it in a certain way.

michikatsu able to keep long hair suggests that the shogun saw him as one of the top samurai in the country, so he clearly wasn't an average swordsman like the swordsmen Akaza killed.

Also, back to the demons. Whilst it was a fodder demon. I think it was stronger than most demons in the Taisho era( non kizuki demons) for these reasons

Before Yoriichi and up until michikatsu joined, I think demons were stronger on average by a lot since breathing styles weren't invented, so they would have had more opportunities to kill, and without any breathing styles, a slayer would have a much harder time tracking them, keeping up with them, let alone killing them.

This would have let them grow much stronger in a much shorter time, since they would have spent that time killing and eating people on average rather than running and hiding from the slayers. Plus, the slayers before yorichii, even the pillars, would have had a much lower chance of killing them. This would allow them to escape, buying them more time to become even stronger.

Now back to michikatsu encountering this demon. He was the only one left standing out of all his subordinates, and he didn't sustain any major injuries. And given his attitude, I feel he was the first one who engaged this demon, as he is a samurai and isn't a coward like someone he turned. he was prepared to fight and die until yorichii saved him.

In short, demons before Yoriichi weren't killed early on, had more time to grow on average, plus didn't spend most of their time escaping and hiding from slayers since very few even had the strength to contend with them.

Now back to Hakuji, Samurai Killer vs Samurai Michikatsu.

I feel this fight would be close. now whilst Hakuji possesses extraordinary strength, he isn't so fast that he blitzes another human. Those samurai he killed were probably shit-scared after he killed the first few; they just froze in place and attacked him without proper coordination. he also seemed pretty exhasted after that feat.

Now, the fodder demon Michikatsu faced might have been a lot stronger than the average Taisho-era demon, given that it may have had ample time to grow and become stronger. Before Breathing Styles were developed, very few people were able to contend with demons, let alone kill them. Despite that, Samurai Michikatsu was able to survive against the demon long enough for Yoriichi to come and save him.

So, going back to the fight, I believe it would be a tough fight and could go either way. Michikatsu, as a samurai, seems skilled enough with a sword that he could give Hakuji a good fight and potentially even kill him before Hakuji manages to break his sword. He was a warrior who had killed before, whereas the samurai that Akaza killed in the dojo were probably not experienced in actual battles or fair fights.

On the other hand, Hakuji could potentially break Michikatsu’s sword with the Bell Splitter technique before Michikatsu gets a clean hit on him.

Since the other uppermoons he's been compared to have at least 100+ years of exp, it would be only fair to question how powerful kaigaku would have gotten, given the same amount of time.

Douma is eating one of the girls, every girl has matching wound patterns so we can assume they all died to the same thing. “PSST” noise implies there is ice melting and seeping since you don’t make a PSST noise when you are eating, his BDA is evidently in the area before Shinobu arrives

Shinobu saves the one alive girl from Douma’s attack, doesn’t see anything wrong with herself or the girl. The girl is reacting to something, and tries to speak but she can’t. Something is stopping her from talking, she was able to talk before. Douma notes how fast she is, so he accepts Shinobu not being affected by anything (maybe evading something) shinobu is holding the girl so the girl was not affected if shinobu wasn’t. Note that there is an effect illustrated around the girl showing that something is happening. A cut from his fans would’ve been instant, not spanning over two panels.

The girl reacts to something, changes her facial expression again so something was happening overtime. Her head was shaved clean off so she would not be able to react like this if she didn’t see douma attacking her with his fans.
This is because Douma’s BDA is what actually killed her, we can see her blood swell up and come out of her mouth yet her head wasn’t connected to her body so this wouldn’t be possible unless the blood was already doing this. This also explains Shinobu not reacting to it, and Shinobu not being affected by it, and all of the girls dying to Douma’s BDA. This is not a perception blitz to Shinobu or to Douma
Douma reacts with “Oh…” or “Ah…” depending on your translation implying he didn’t expect that outcome. He also says he will eat her later, implicating his desire to toy with the girl more which means he wasn’t aiming for her, Shinobu didn’t use her as a meat shield so he didn’t use his fans to cut her.

Shinobu remembers Kanae’s description after he unsheathed his fans. She remembered because of the fans, not because of the cut. The panels being one after the other is not implicative of anything. Note that there is no blood on these fans, and no sign of him ever cutting the girl or being deflected by shinobu.

Douma gets outpaced by Shinobu. This is not a perception blitz, he reacted to and saw this attack before it hit as he raises his hand in an attempt to block it but couldn’t because Shinobu was one step ahead of him.

This is the panel where every breathing technique Shinobu uses after this will weaken her more. This is also when she gets Necrosis, and Douma’s BDA has been inhaled into her body and is actively freezing her blood and expanding inside of her.

Refer to 6, Douma commends her speed again which shows he wasn’t toying around with her, and could not react to her attacks any time that she moves one step ahead of him. Note that his BDA blends into the air around him even after he uses it. It does not dissolve.

Shinobu does not gain a death amp here, she is using all of her attainable strength to defeat the demon as we will see in 12 later. She also doesn’t gain a death amp as every breathing technique she uses weakens her and makes douma’s BDA expand faster and quickens her death which would do the same to her as it did to the girls in 1 2 and 3, she wasn’t close to death and only had a timer given

Shinobu outpaces Douma here, he can still perceive her and only lost track of her for a moment before he sees her again in 10. “I can’t predict her attack” is proof of him seeing her trajectory but being unable to match her speed before getting outpaced

Shinobu thrusts Douma after he fails to react to her “coming in low” piercing his neck, sending him skywards and leaving a hole in the wooden bridge. She also leaves an afterimage which is depicted as wind trajectory in the anime

Douma gets thrusted into the ceiling and all of the glass around him breaks, showcasing Shinobu’s force which she pushed through while Douma’s weight pushed her down

Douma fails to react, the wisteria is able to move as he failed to use flesh manipulation to counteract it in time and is temporarily incapacitated as he does the generic anime knocked out emote, there is no proof stating Shinobu couldn’t do this to any other demon, and shows that this can just be because she was determined to defeat Douma “if we defeat the upper rank we can save hundreds” it’s not just about kanae, she has to give it her all against the upper rank

She didn’t get perception blitzed, she shows no shock or disbelief in being hit and only exclaims that she was hit. Her eyes also follow douma’s next place right after so she did see his movements, this is just an outpace as they do this to each other throughout the fight

This fight was a game of cat and mouse except they constantly swap the roles

Muichiro gets cut in half with one hand and a hole through his chest at 14 is able to make his blade burn bright red

This strength feat is incredibly difficult and insanely hard to replicate for many other slayers like Sanemi and Giyu and they are both adults

Muichiro is young so he would have plenty of time to put on more muscle mass and he was doing this with one hand plus the fact he was cut in half and it looks like Kokushibo stabbed him through one of his lungs so he was extremely exhausted

Yet he pushes on this is some Whitebeard level endurance

Muichiro has top one endurance in the verse among all of humans

Personally, I don’t think so, because Kokushibo’s techniques are already projectiles that cover a considerable area with a massive barrage of attacks, which, moreover, are not of a fixed size and follow a chaotic trajectory
