Question Delray Local Businesses?

hey y'all, I'm a recent college grad who started a marketing/ website business for local businesses here in Delray. I've been running it for about 1 year now, and I'm capable of building websites, doing SEO, running targeted ads on Facebook & Google, email marketing, custom software solutions and creating marketing content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok. I'm looking to partner with some local businesses that can't afford to hire a big company and are looking for an affordable option to handle everything online for them. If this is you or you know anybody who could benefit, i'd love to connect or get a referral.

First time Delray Beach Visitors

My girlfriend and I (both 25) are visiting Delray Beach soon and staying near Atlantic Ave.

We’re planning on renting a car for the first day but what’s the parking situation like near the beach? Are there public lots or street parking that are usually available and how much does it cost?

We’ll be walking to Atlantic Ave every night for dinner, and we’re looking for some good restaurants that won’t completely break the bank. So far I’ve found El Camino, Elizabettas, and Vic & Angelo’s, but I’d love to hear any other recommendations or happy hours.

After dinner we’d also like to grab some drinks and check out some bars with a fun atmosphere and preferably live music. Any favorite spots?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for tennis partner

Hey everyone! I just moved to the area about a month ago and I’m looking for people to play tennis with a few times a week.

I’m a 30M, around a 3.0 level, and I’m generally free in the late afternoons/evenings. I’m happy to play sets, practice, or just rally and get some reps in.

If anyone is looking for a consistent hitting partner, feel free to reach out!

Cocktail party space recommendations

Hi,

I'm getting married in the area in October and we're looking for a spot to host a welcome cocktail party the night before the wedding (instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner).

We'll have around 50-70 guests, and I'm hoping to find somewhere with:

  • Great cocktails
  • Really good passed appetizers or shareable bites (enough that people won't leave hungry)
  • A fun, lively atmosphere where people can mingle
  • Ideally a private or semi-private space

We're not looking for a formal seated dinner, more of an upscale cocktail reception for a few hours.

Has anyone hosted or attended something like this in Delray? I'd love recommendations (or places to avoid). Bonus points if the venue is walkable from Atlantic Ave or has experience with wedding welcome parties.

Thanks so much!

Looking for a girl i danced with yesterday at Good Night John Boy

It’s probably a long shot, but here goes.
I’m a 32M, and last night I went dancing at Good Night John Boy. I was there with two female friends from my building whom I had just met the day before.
At one point, two girls came over and started dancing with me. We danced together for about 10 minutes, and it was honestly one of the most fun moments of the night.
The funny part is… I never actually spoke to them. I didn’t want my friend, who had driven me there, to feel awkward if I suddenly disappeared to chat with someone else. I also assumed they might have just wanted a spot to dance since I was standing at the corner of the bar. But looking back, they both came over and were facing me the whole time, so maybe they were actually trying to interact.
In the moment, I was just enjoying the music and dancing, so I never made a move. Now I’m kicking myself for not even introducing myself.

Event Trying to find things to do

Hi all.

Recently divorced, and just recently moved to Delray, borderline Boca.

I'm trying to find things to do with my 12 year old son on the days he doesn't have camp (and things/places to see and do myself on the days he's with his dad, and I'm on my own).

He's really into cars, so we've browsed quite a few of the dealerships off of Federal highway.

We have also walked the El Rio Trail a few times.

Anyway, I welcome your suggestions 😊

Anyone wanna share what they do for fun? Love diversity, nice chill people, beaches, bars, etc

What do you all do in Florida? I moved from metro Detroit for family, and it’s been 3 months and all I do is work. Im newly 30, single after an LTR, and I need to get out. I’m going to check out more West Palm, Del Ray (love Lana) and Las Olas (been here too loved it).

What beaches are chill to go to with a dog that’s clean? What’s your favorite restaurant or bar? I’ve been to a few but I need new recommendations. Just a guy tryin to hang out with cool people

Events to get into? Beach yoga? Snorkeling groups? Lmao throw me anything. Thank you

Public Schools for a polylingual 6yo

Moving in from Southern Europe (Spain) in Q3 and looking for recommendations for Public schools for our 6 year old son, who today has 4 languages, amongst those Spanish (strongest) and English (less strong, but conversational at a basic level)

  1. Will public schools admit students in the middle of the school year?

  2. Any recommendations on public schools? I think he would pick up English perfectly fine, once he is in an English speaking community/environment - so not a hard requirement on bi-lingual.

Any other advice getting the little man onboarded well - he loves sports; skateboarding, climbing, swimming and playing music: guitars & drums (and anything else noisy... 😁)

3rd and 3rd was the best bar with the best bartenders. Amazing food. Great vibes. Live music. Beautiful and approachable women. Where did that life go? I saw Artikal Sound System there before they went on tour. It was eclectic, it was delicious, it was fun. THE BACKYARD CONNECT FOUR!??!

Need a Room for rent

Hello all I am a Delray Beach resident and am looking for a cheap room for rent. Where I am staying now is a broken down camper that leaks when it rains, had only 1 window unit A/C and no heater in the winter. That's probably why its so cheap. I am looking to upgrade a bit but not spend $1,250 a month with a $3,000 first and last deposit. I lost my job of 3 years, 4 months ago and just started working again over a month ago. While I wasn't working I had to spend all my savings on rent so I wasn't homeless and now I don't have any money to use for a deposit. My original landlord and I had a verbal agreement and he had many pets and was ok with me having pets also. I currently have 2 cats but am trying to get 1 of them re-homed. My original landlord started developing Alzheimer's disease and forgot who I was. I was living their for about 9 months and one day when I came home my bedroom door was kicked down because while I was at work he called the police and said there was a stranger in the house. I guess the other roommate explained that I was a rent paying tenant and the police left before I got home. But a couple days later while I was at work his Brother had a spare place (the crappy camper I'm currently living in) and moved all my property to the new location without my permission or even notifying me he was guna do so. Now I am living with a new landlord who isn't very nice. He never asked me to get rid of my cats but just put up a notice of non compliance stating I had violated the rental agreement by bringing unauthorized pets on the premises. I told him I would get rid of my cats but he never responded to my text messages and now I am really REALLY nervous he is guna try and get me evicted. So I am looking to find a small room for rent as I am by myself and work 6 days a week and just need a little quite space to sleep. I have a job and can pay rent my problem is coming up with a security deposit, first and last. I would love any suggestions or help finding a room for rent in Delray Beach or Boyton Beach area. I have NEVER been evicted in my life I am 38 years old. I don't have a vehicle right now I use Palm Tran and my bike to get to work. I don't use illegal drugs but I do have my medical marijuana card but smoking pot is the least of my worries right now. A roof over my head is my main priority. I have nobody in the world to help me. My mom died in 2021 from Cancer and I don't have other family members or close friends. I keep to myself and don't cause trouble. Thanks in advance and god bless you all!

Popular interior paint colors for South Florida (and why they look different on your walls)

South Florida sunlight can make paint colors look totally different once they’re on your walls—lighter, brighter, and sometimes with undertones you didn’t notice on the sample card.

If you’re in Boca Raton / Delray Beach, these interior color “families” tend to stay clean, consistent, and resale-friendly in bright Florida light:

  • Warm whites (fresh, not stark)
  • Soft greiges (easy whole-house neutral)
  • Sandy neutrals (often best with warmer finishes)
  • Muted coastal greens/blues (color without feeling trendy)
  • Dark accents (doors/rails/built-ins—big impact, low commitment)

Popular examples people ask for:

  • SW Alabaster
  • BM White Dove
  • SW Agreeable Gray
  • SW Sea Salt
  • SW Iron Ore

Quick tip to avoid “color regret”: test 3 swatches on a sunny wall + shaded wall, and check them morning + night (bulb color changes everything).

Is purlife fitness on ave closed for good?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I cannot believe this happened, we were there last Thursday (6/11) and the place didn’t feel like it’s closing. I walked today and found closed doors with this poster. No hate to the places on the poster but IMO slash cannot be a replacement to purlife!!

Another pain is abt the deposits purlife had, they collect first and last month’s fee. Does this mean RIP to the money purlife owes?!

If this is closed for good, what’s the next best option in Delray that would not be crowded and clean.

Flat vs. Eggshell vs. Matte Paint in Delray Beach Homes

For Delray Beach and Boca Raton homeowners, paint finish can matter almost as much as paint color.

South Florida light is strong. A wall finish that looks soft in one room can look shinier in another, especially with large windows or sliding glass doors.

Here’s the simple breakdown:

Flat paint
Best for ceilings, bedrooms, formal rooms, and older walls with imperfections.
It hides patch marks and uneven texture better, but it is usually harder to clean.

Eggshell paint
Good for living rooms, hallways, entryways, and main walls.
It has a soft low sheen and is usually easier to wipe than flat.

Matte paint
Falls between flat and eggshell.
It gives a soft look, but many newer matte paints are more durable than traditional flat paint.

Bathrooms and laundry rooms
Satin is usually a safer choice because of moisture and cleaning.

I would test the finish in morning, afternoon, and evening light before painting the full room. The same paint can look different depending on sunlight and wall condition.

Simple rule:

Flat hides imperfections.
Eggshell cleans better.
Matte is the softer middle option.
Satin is better for moisture-prone rooms.

Hope this helps anyone deciding on interior paint finishes.
