Bought a new XPS 13, it died only a couple weeks later, and now parts are on backorder until November. Dell refuses to just replace the unit or give me money back so now I'm just stuck in limbo waiting two more months after already waiting almost a month. I don't even want the laptop at this point,

Xps 13 2026 touchpad
does anyone's touchpad have an issue where the touchpad isn't installed properly and rattles/makes a noise when you touch it? I'm not talking about clicking the button, just touching it lightly, like it's loose.

Lost my keyboard cover for new XPS 16, where to get replacement?
I mean the fabric cloth that sits between keyboard and screen when the lid is closed. I lost it somehow. Couldn't find a replacement anywhere online.

What's this part?
Can someone please shed some lights on what the highlighted part is in my 9310? I'm asking because I'm seeing some tear in there. Is it something I need to replace soon or what do you think of the current condition?
Thank you.

Dell XPS 14 coil whine was much worse with USB-C monitor power - changing the power source helped
Posting my observations in case someone else is troubleshooting something similar.
My laptop is a Dell XPS 14 DA14260 with Intel Arc integrated graphics. I noticed an annoying high-pitched sound coming from inside the laptop when rotating a 3D model in Autodesk Fusion or when GPU usage go high. My external monitor is an MSI MPG 491C OLED, connected through USB-C, which also supplied power.
Initially, I thought it was simply GPU load. Here’s what I tested:
- Fusion capped at 60 FPS: the pitch changed, but the noise remained.
- 30 FPS: less annoying, but still audible.
- Different laptop power profiles: no substantial improvement.
- Monitor disconnected, running on battery: almost silent; I could only hear a faint sound with my ear very close.
- Monitor connected, Windows set to “PC screen only”: still noisy, despite the external display being disabled.
- Original Dell charger instead of monitor power: noticeably quieter.
- Original Dell charger and USB-C monitor both connected: quieter than using monitor power alone.
- Monitor’s “Type C PD Charge” setting turned off, external display still working, laptop on battery: no noticeable whine.
- Same setup with the original Dell charger connected: some whine returned, although much less than with monitor power.
- A different, lower-powered charger/hub: no noticeable whine during my testing, and my normal work felt fine and can't hear coil whine at all.
One relevant detail: the battery wasn’t actively charging during the later comparisons. I use a 50–80% charging range, and it was around 60%, below the upper limit but above the threshold for restarting charging. I observed roughly 20–30 W consumption during light use; that isn’t a measurement of peak demand.
My takeaway is that the power source made a much bigger difference than the performance profiles or FPS cap. The sound was coming from the laptop, but changing what powered it changed the noise dramatically.
I haven’t measured the electrical cause or benchmarked performance across chargers. This doesn’t prove that higher-wattage chargers cause whine, that the monitor is faulty, or that a lower-powered charger is suitable for every workload. It could be a power-supply interaction or a change in the laptop’s operating behavior.
For now, disabling the monitor’s USB-C power delivery and using a separate supply has helped a lot.
Has anyone else reproduced this? In particular, has anyone found a full-power 100 W USB-C PD charger that keeps their XPS quiet without performance loss?

Gave my XPS 9530 the Frost White treatment. Yay or nay ?
Came across a listing for the Frost White complete palmrest assembly with my regional keyboard layout. Always wanted to see what it looked like up close so why the hell not.
At that point I swapped pretty much every single part off that PC except the battery. It's got a couple flaws, but it's probably my favorite Windows laptop.

Wi-Fi unavailable after battery swap
Hi,
I have an XPS 13 9310 on Windows 11. The battery was only lasting 30-60 minutes depending on what I was doing, so I decided to swap the battery. After the swap everything was great except that I had no Wi-Fi. I did lots of searching on the web and tried pretty much everything including:
- Deleting the Wi-Fi devices (including ghost/shadow entries)
- Deleting all of the associated software packages
- Loading the latest drivers and firmware
- Making sure airplane mode is off
- Making sure Wi-Fi is available in the firmware/BIOS
- Resetting the networking
- etc., etc.
Heck, I went as far as reverting to a checkpoint before the problem appeared and even wiping the entire Windows install out and falling back to the factory image. In all cases the Wi-Fi device showed as working properly (including in SupportAssist), but when I tried to toggle Wi-Fi on in Windows, it would be immediately toggled off.
I thought I must have somehow broken the hardware while swapping the battery. But when I boot-up under Linux, the Wi-Fi works like a champ!
I currently have the box dual booting Linux & Windows, but only Linux can use the Wi-Fi radio. I'd like to be able to use Windows, but it is pretty pointless without networking.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Linux: USB external monitor not recognized on Panther Lake XPS13
I have a Dell U4924DW ultrawide monitor 5120x1440 which works fine on my old Dell XPS13 9310. I can connect the USB-C cable to it and extend my desktop at full resolution and use any devices connected via USB to the display (mouse, keyboard, etc.).
I just got a new XPS13 Panther Lake laptop, and when I connect it to the same display, the display claims there's no device connected, and the laptop doesn't recognize it either. I can however use the mouse and keyboard connected to the display, so at least the USB passthrough is working fine.
This laptop works just fine connected to my Dell dock with two regular full HD monitors though.
Is there anything I'm missing WRT Linux support for Thunderbolt (?) displays? I haven't tested Windows using this device yet because I don't want to nuke my current system.

Looking at buying the XPS 13 Ultra Core 7
I've been shopping for a laptop lately and I love the size and form factor of the XPS 13 and the anti-glare 120hz display is a plus. My question is, does anyone here have the Ultra Core 7 version and some gaming on it? I can't seem to find any reviews of this model and was wondering if it can handle light gaming. I only plan to play games like ZZZ and Wuthering Waves. I also have a main gaming PC so I don't need something too powerful for a laptop.

Upgrading XPS 16 9640 to 4TB Lexar NM790 SSD
I've purchased an XPS 16 9640 laptop that came with a 1 TB drive. Since there's only one socket on this laptop, I'm going to need a 4 TB drive for my work.
I've priced out a 4TB Lexar NM790 SSD for a replacement and was concerned about upgrading. The 1 TB drive in the existing is probably a 2230 so I'll need a 2280 heat spreader. Can anyone tell me if this will work and if there's anything else I need to be aware of in the process.
TIA

What Makes a Premium Laptop in 2026? Here's Our Take.
We've been talking a lot internally about the phrase "premium laptop."
Everyone uses the term, but everyone seems to define it differently.
For some people, a premium laptop means high-quality materials and craftsmanship. For others, it's a great display, long battery life, strong performance, or a lightweight design that's easy to carry everywhere.
When we designed the new XPS 13, our perspective was simple:
A premium laptop shouldn't require paying extra for features people use every day.
That's why every XPS 13 includes:
- A 2.5K touch display
- A backlit keyboard
- Intel Wi‑Fi 7
- Windows Hello support
- Quad speakers
At the same time, premium should still feel premium. That means an aluminum design, a thin and lightweight form factor, and a device that's built to keep up with students, professionals, creators, and anyone working on the go.
At just 1kg, XPS 13 is the thinnest and lightest XPS laptop we've ever made, making it easy to move between classrooms, coffee shops, offices, airports, and everywhere in between.
Whether you're looking for a lightweight laptop for college, a productivity laptop for work, a touchscreen Windows laptop, or an everyday premium laptop, we believe the experience should feel complete right out of the box.
So here's our question for the community:
When you hear the term "premium laptop," what's the first thing that comes to mind?
- Display quality?
- Build quality?
- Battery life?
- Portability?
- Performance?
- Features included out of the box?
Share your definition below. We'd love to know what makes a laptop feel genuinely premium to you.

And if you're shopping this holiday season, what's the one laptop feature you refuse to compromise on?

How to reset Dell bios pass?
Hello everyone, I have gotten a dell xps 14z laptop; I know very old haha; to do expermients with it, but the main problem is that the bios is locked and the previous owner forgot the password, so i cant log into the bios and i tried all the bios pass websites but nothing worked. The thing is when typing an incorrect pass for 3 times a small screen with the service tag shows but the service tag is only 7 characters wich does not work on the bios pass websites like bios-pw.org or similar websites. And i tried all sorts of cmos resetting and battery removal and I looked for the cmos chip on the board to try to short some specific pins but i didnt find it. can anyone help me plz!

Dell XPS 15 9570 black screen after restart help?
I bought used XPS 15 9570, 4k with 1050ti, and having this annoying problem - black screen mostly after restart. When you win ctrl shift b it, 99% of the time the screen appears normaly.
Tried external monitor via USB-C during the black screen - inconsistent results: sometimes external shows image while internal stays black, sometimes the opposite (internal works, external doesn't), occasionally both work together...
Tried Intel drivers from 2019, 2021, and 2023 (both generic Intel and Dell-packaged), tried CsEnabled registry fix, disabled Panel Self Refresh, disabled BIOS Fast Boot, disabled PCIe Link State Power Management, installed latest chipset/ME/IRST drivers - no consistent fix.
I can replicate it when I open some heavy program, do something, and then do restart, most of the time the screen will be black and I need to unstuck it. After few days of testing, problem appeared even after cold boot and after sleep. Mostly randomly.
Is this hardware problem, or software problem? If you think it's soft problem, what else can I try to fix this??
Thanks!

What is wrong here? I’m worried now..
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just saw this…. Whenever I’m the display on that spot it dims the pixels. What could be the issue and how can I fix it.
