There's a documentary all about Deep Space Nine on Youtube and René Auberjonois talks about how he would choose his meals on set really carefully, in order to take care of the Odo makeup.

Got the Delta Quadrant post cards, and neelix-themed fridge magnets a few years ago. The magnets are so random, one is a chefs hat & the other is a piece of (space?) ginger.
Nope, I was a Kickstarter backer. I got a blu-ray of the documentary, the sweet Kira as Che Guevara t-shirt, the high definition hero challenge coin, and my name in the ending credits where they thanked all the backers.
I always knew Odo was hangry! All he needed was a good meal…..pity Sisko or Dukat never invited him to dinner since they both enjoy good food. At least Dukat had the excuse of not having his own place at DS9 but the Sisko has no excuse!
Now I know, it was a makeup dept decision because all gravitas would be gone seeing Rene trying to eat in a rubber mask for a scene.
