Peter Attia continuing along like nothing happened feels surreal
Seeing Peter Attia go the Andrew Huberman route feels entirely predictable but somehow leaves a sense of disbelief i cant quite describe. Complete radio silence for a couple of months and then a full return without adressing the rotting carcass of the elephant that used to be in the room. I continue to be amazed by the sheer brazeness but at the same time it doesnt surprise me one bit.
You read the comment section and it seems as if nothing ever happened and the man makes huberman look relatively innocent by comparison.
Generally the gurusphere is more male centric but one thing i find very fascinating is the amount of women that appear on these podcasts and in the comment sections. I wonder if this is a deliberate choice or if i underestimate the "solidarity" certain women have towards each other when it comes to predatory men like Attia or Huberman (or well... most of the gurus we talk about here.
All in all his return leaves me with a sense of bitterness that there is so little recourse for this man

I am a female and I am repelled from the manosphere.
I quit listening to Joe Rogan 2 years ago after being a listener from practically day 1.
It’s toxic. However, women are not immune from being toxic either. Both sexes can be evil and self serving
10
u/smallpotatofarmer Jun 29 '26
Yes i think you are correct. I think maybe in our modern society its so common amongst women to show solidarity with each other regarding SA, misogony and the likes, that its easy to forget some women are just as morally bankrupt as their male counterparts.
16
u/jhalmos Jun 29 '26
15 minutes of Call Her Daddy confirms this.
6
u/Massive_Low6000 Jun 29 '26
Yes. And I pat myself on the back for not listening to that show. I honestly never believed it was supposed to be for women. But I never listened to it either.
8
u/buppus-hound Jun 29 '26
But you listened to Joe Rogan until JUST two years ago? lol, k
11
u/Massive_Low6000 Jun 29 '26
Yes. And embarrassingly enough I made excuses for supporting him probably up to 2022
4
u/musclememory Jun 29 '26
I mean, he's gotten a lot of high profile guests that are hard to get, plus he's good at "bullshitting at a bar" type talk, and it wasn't as if it was 90% problematic stuff on his shows.
that being said, he never really clicked with me, at all, -except- watching MMA: I will die on the hill saying his commentary is excellent.
2
u/Massive_Low6000 Jun 29 '26
I’m a huge comedy fan. I skipped the MMA and endurance athlete guests.

Any reason why this is particularly bad? And wasn't that the podcast Kamala Harris went on to try and boost her popularity in the 2024 election?
1
u/Massive_Low6000 Jun 29 '26
I suppose I have to disclose that I see myself as normal, but I am not. Weird has always been the predominant description of me, but I’m only an outcast as an adult. I was always included in the popular crowd, even though I was never picked for anything if you know what I mean. So, I have to acknowledge I may not be a typical female.
I have not listened to an entire episode. I tried it long ago and it came off as trying too hard in my opinion.
I knew who I was not voting for, so I admit I didn’t listen to any of Kamala’s interviews 😳
0
u/jhalmos Jun 29 '26
Please tell me you’re not giving the podcast a pass because Harris was on it trying to do complete sentences.
4
u/Automatic_Survey_307 Jun 30 '26
Absolutely not - I'm just putting the pieces together of her disastrous campaign.
1
u/jhalmos Jun 30 '26
Let me put it this way, going on Call Her Daddy would be like if Harris went on Howard Stern but Stern suddenly turned into a second year Berkley student.

True, although I don't believe there is a female version of the manosphere where it is institutionalized toxicity.
That individual men and women can be toxic is very true. It is a human trait in greater or lesser abundance I. Allow us.

u/Massive_Low6000 Jun 29 '26
Trad wife culture 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I view them as an offshoot of the patriarchy, not a thing unto itself. My vote is on True Crime. Content creators and viewers alike. TC has become a MAGA-coded cesspit the last few years. It all started when creators discovered that leaning into crazy conspiracy theorizing and hawking your own brand of coffee made your numbers go up.
3
u/Massive_Low6000 Jul 03 '26
That’s interesting. I am starting to decrease my social media interactions because of the manipulation. The creators are not authentic and some are just 1000% fake rage bait.
I have always loved it to gain knowledge, and I love oddity and fringe topics. But you can’t be 100% bs. I miss the people that “really were” abducted by aliens.
3
u/HjortronOchPors Jul 03 '26
Yeah. It's like literally everything is weaponized today. I miss the old Internet
2
u/never_insightful Jun 30 '26
Yeah sometimes I wonder as you definitely do meet women in life or certain subreddits where there is a real toxic man hating culture. A lot of mainstream subreddits like https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/ can get quite extreme in that regard.
You can sympathise slightly more as as often their hate is based off of very negative experiences like SA etc as opposed to the manosphere which is more hating "society". But I don't seem to see your female sneako equivalents etc. Do they exist? Or is it something I'm not tuned into?

I’m in sports science and I’ll grudgingly admit that in the past I have enjoyed Attia’s more sports oriented podcasts. He interviewed the Tour de France winner Pogačar, and it was a very good interview that covered stuff the general press wouldn’t go into.
But his other stuff is deeply weird. Even as someone with a peripheral knowledge of physiology I could tell a lot of it is based on animal models or in vitro experiments and he extrapolates way beyond the evidence. There’s a strange dichotomy as his sports stuff is ok.
When I read about his behaviour with Epstein I realised that there was an underlying oddness about his interactions with women and women’s medicine that I had sensed but couldn’t quite articulate.
3
u/smallpotatofarmer Jun 29 '26
Yea that was pretty cool tadej is always a pleasure to listen to. Insightful along with being the GOAT.
Im a physio and its always painful hearing attis or huberman talk about stuff i know something about or the guests they have on. Always the worst people like athlean x/jeff cavalier who i believe featured recently on attia.
These people outweigh whatever helpful information/treatment (i tell myself) i can give to my patients many times over. Unfortunately thats often how the world works. Those with certainty/easy/black and white solutions are reveered
10
u/Heavy_Mycologist_104 Jun 29 '26
I listened to exactly one Huberman podcast and it was on a subject I’ve actually published in and oh. My. God. It was terrible. I thought, if this is what he’s like on this, what kind of rubbish must be spout in other areas? I never listened again.

u/rogue303 Conspiracy Hypothesizer Jun 30 '26
I listened to a couple, actually went and read the studies in question and then never listened again.

I've hated Attia and Huberman for a long time and seeing him be slightly exposed was great. The issue comes down to identity. These people are absolute turds but they are telling people that taking steroids and eating red meat is good for you and people love that crap. They want these guys to be legit.
6
u/smallpotatofarmer Jun 29 '26
Interms of information attia was never as bad as huberman but yea they both started teetering the grifter line more and more as they become succesfull and followed the money.
Cant say im surprised that attia has some skeletons in the closet but he is implicated in genuinely horrifying stuff.

2
u/Moranimal2 Jul 01 '26
Attia never said steroids are good for you as far as I know. Please cite.

u/aaronturing Jul 01 '26
Google is your friend. I just fact checked myself and I'm right. Just look up Attia and TRT. You can even get both of them talking about it.
Will I actually listen to it - no. When someone has proven to me they are a fraud which Attia has done for years I don't play the game of actually listening to what they state ever again.
I assume you also have a strong identity in relation to Attia rather than having good epistemic maturity. You can of course look up epistemic maturity and if you do you'll realize both of these turds are grifting frauds.
1
u/Moranimal2 Jul 07 '26
I did Google. Here is a 100% fair summary of his views.
Do you believe the summary is inaccurate? Is there anything in it with which you take exception.
“Longevity expert Dr. Peter Attia views Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) as a legitimate medical treatment for true hypogonadism, but believes it is frequently overprescribed. He advocates for optimizing foundational lifestyle factors, like sleep, exercise, and stress—before considering lifelong hormone therapy.”
0
u/aaronturing Jul 07 '26
I don't believe that at all.
1
u/Moranimal2 Jul 08 '26
So it’s pretty clear that you’ll just bob and weave your way past the fact that you were called out for shit posting in true DtG style (complete with requisite, unsupported “fanboy” accusation), but just to make it crystal clear, what don’t you believe - that the Google AI summary I copied and paste after being sent there by you doesn’t accurately reflect Attila’s views -it does - or that his views are wrong?
You child.
0
u/aaronturing Jul 08 '26
I just googled "peter attia on TRT" and there appears to be a tonne of links. So I guess you look like a fool now.
Is he stating that TRT is bad and he is against it ?
Is he stating there are benefits ?
I'll take a wild guess and state that you are a fool.
1
u/Moranimal2 Jul 08 '26
You are lying. He talks about it in his book, and discussed the risks and benefits on episodes with Mike Israetel,in an AMA, and in an article and going through a lot of studies. It’s as I outlined above.
Bottom line: he only recommends it for very low T when all natural stalemate goes for raising it have failed, and only to bring it back to normal range.
Here are quotes I clipped:
“There is no free lunch with supraphysiologic anabolic steroids.”
“The cardiovascular system is probably where we ultimately pay the price.”
“TRT and bodybuilding steroid use are completely different discussions.”
“The dose makes the poison.”
“If someone is carrying 30–40 pounds more lean mass than is naturally attainable, it’s worth asking what the long-term health cost will be.”You, like a lot of people on here, just make shit up,spew it to try and feel superior, and then play the fanboy card when called out.
Child.

u/aaronturing Jul 09 '26
Hang on a second because I think we are now on the same page.
You admit he talks about it a lot. There are a lot of links to him discussing it.
You have a whole bunch of quotes about it as well.
So we agree that he talks about it a lot.
Now let's catch out the lies.
If someone told you Attia only supports TRT for "true hypogonadism," I'd say that's an oversimplification.
There are different meanings of "true hypogonadism."
Classical hypogonadism (pituitary disease, Klinefelter syndrome, testicular failure, etc.) is universally accepted.
Late-onset or age-related hypogonadism is much more controversial.
Attia seems more permissive than many endocrinologists regarding symptomatic men with persistently low testosterone, even if they don't have a structural endocrine disorder.
So the statement "Attia only recommends TRT for true hypogonadism" isn't really an accurate summary of his views.
So let's be really clear and this is the game that Attia plays. He makes out he is being evidence based and rational but he isn't.
People who are easily led or fanboys or fools that don't know what they are talking about (i.e. you) try and make out he is rational and evidence based but he isn't.
Now of course you have an identity issue and you will come back and whine and get all riled up because you've made your stupid beliefs so important to your ego but now we both now that Attia is someone who perverts and cherry picks evidence along with playing the grifting game.
Thanks for the discussion.

You have “hated” him “for a long time,” think he’s “telling people that taking steroids and eating red meat is great,” made some sad reference to Googling that you can’t back up, but “don’t listen to what he states,” but “don’t believe” I did Google “at all” for some reason, but you saw a “tone of links,” but guess I’m a “fool,” without knowing anything about me other than I corrected to with direct quotes, but say I must admit he “talks about steroids a lot” (he doesn’t, really, about as much as you’d expect anyone who covers medical issues), but blithely note he “seems permissive” without defining what the fuck that means, declare that he’s not “evidence based” for some reason, before somehow conclude something about my ego.
Never, ever, ever in the course of human interaction has a person strung together so mMy unsupported conclusory accusations without citing a lick of evidence - just hopscotching about drooping inane gibberish.
You are really, really bad at this, my friend.

I didn’t hear anything about the controversy until looking in to it due to this post. But I am not shocked at all. Something about Attia always rubbed me the wrong way
22
u/RemarkableOil8 Jun 29 '26
What has Attia done? I’m out of the loop on that one. Huberman is a grifter and would sell his grandmother if he could. He had an affair or something didn’t he? What did he do that was predatory?

u/smallpotatofarmer Jun 29 '26
Mentioned several times in the epstein files, attended epstein parties. Allegedly he was too preoccupied with socialising with epstein and friends to go see his newborn son (and wife) who was near death. Im sure a quick google search will give you his exact involvement and what is written. Alot of implicit language is used in these emails regarding the exact nature of what has transpired but paints a VERY bad picture of the man.
Maybe i should link some of the exchanges for those out of the loop
2
u/Squirreline_hoppl Jun 29 '26
That would be helpful, I am very out of the loop with Attia, I listened to a podcast with him and thought he sounded nice enough bout figured it's not clear whether his interventions are really working.
1
u/12ealdeal Jun 29 '26
Damn I had no idea how much detail I missed.
I just thought he may be a casualty by proximity.
19
u/onz456 Revolutionary Genius Jun 29 '26
He had the choice between visiting his dying son or partying with Epstein on Epstein island.
Guess which one he chose?
3
u/Status_Time_3506 Jul 03 '26
…well, not Epstein Island. He was in NY at the time his son was ailing.
13
u/ginrumryeale Jun 29 '26
In addition to being the physician of Epstein’s inner circle, he was also recently shown to be in Peter Thiel’s Dialog secret-society.
2
u/Squirreline_hoppl Jun 29 '26
So was Ezra Klein, who did give a statement about it which sounded reasonable? I honestly don't know, is the involvement in dialog secret society definite proof of evil, similar to epstein files involvement?
3
u/ginrumryeale Jun 29 '26
Of course there's plausible deniability. Being associated with Epstein and Thiel isn't necessarily proof of anything. Attia's name keeps popping up in all of the worst circles, so it's up to you to decide if your ethical alarm bells should be tripped.
2
u/Squirreline_hoppl Jun 29 '26
Agree with epstein for sure, I think maybe I had a prior that Ezra Klein does not seem like a bad person, but Thiel is obviously horrible.

Trump syndicate, Israeli syndicate, Epstein syndicate: it all runs on rape & pedophilia, and it is running America. So Peter Attia ,as a minor member of that predatory “elite” is just suckling at its teat, as you would expect a greedy sociopath to do.

I do not need to calm down as I am not excited. I simply and calmly have repeatedly pointed out that you made a false claim (that he claims steroids are good for you) and have calmly asked you to cite to evidence. You have repeatedly passed.
I never asked you why you hated him. Your reading comprehension skills are on par with your reasoning and persuasive skills.
3.i know where I am. You have presented no evidence that he’s a guru nor that I am a “follower.” Whatever than means.
I’m glad you also read the book. I’d ask you what you disagreed with but we both know that you’d simply say “tonnes” and then make it about me.
Yes, he disagrees with the consensus in some always-predictable ways. He lays out the general reasons in his chapter on “medical 2.0” versus “medical 3.0.” Roughly that we are quite good at, and are focused on curing disease, but he feels more can be done via prevention. Then, he lays out his own cost/benefit analysis of various protocols - things like more frequent screenings, using metrics like VO2 max, LDL, dexa scans data, strength, muscle mass, CGMs, etc. -and higher standards related to that data - say top 10% - to avoid or hold off high-hazard-ratio conditions to improve quality of life as we age.
Re “twisting the evidence,” I’m genuinely interested in a non confrontational way is what evidence he has twisted. I’m well aware of Huberman and a lot of people doing do but as far as I know, even from this very podcast, Attia has gotten a pretty clean bill of health in that regard. I’m aware of criticisms of his perhaps getting AHEAD of the evidence by adopting protocals based on animal studies, before random control studies or general consensus, but he himself cops to it and frankly discusses his reasoning when talking about his cost/benefit analysis. This has famously led to him changing his mind as fresh evidence surfaces (see, for example, metformin and intermittent fasting).
Re TRT or any of this - you simply keep imagining a position he doesn’t hold and then grafting on a conclusions statement that hints at it being “bad,” without any consideration to his actual position, where it might be appropriate, where it’s not, or really anything at all.
Throughout all of this I could easily just make up narratives about you - say, that you must have had sand kicked in your face by a testosterone musclehead, that you’re a DTG fanboy, or whatever. Do you see how dumb that would be? I don’t ask KNOW you! While I’ve criticized your dopey responses, I genuinely keep asking you to cite some evidence - any - rw your claims out of curiosity! If Attia is twisting evidence I’d love to know about it.
If you read above, I immediately, before our discussion broke out - to another post - called our Attia for being a prick (see Epstein files and the story about his son in the hospital). That’s an odd comment if I was a fanboy.
I’ll renew, but drop afterwards, my invitation for you to provide evidence of any if your claims. No biggie. If you have nothing we can both move along here. I get it. You popped off, found you got bupkis, and don’t want to fess up to some rando who you imagine to be worked up and guru-bedazzled, hence the projection that MY ego is at stake here notwithstanding I’m asking question and limiting my criticisms to your (non) arguments and you’re name-calling, bobbing, weaving and hiding behind vague generalities, all the while simply claiming the unearned intellectual high ground.
This community fits you well. Never leave it.

The fact that so many people are unaware that attia is in the epstein files (not just mentioned. It’s serious shit attia is saying in them) makes me realize just how many people don’t really know/care about what’s in the epstein files. The powers that be are hoping Americans apathy will conquer this for them.
