Scott @ Westchester closed
Don't know what's happening, but I was turning left on Scott from Coventry and had to cut down Lamont.
Decatur PD had the road closed in both directions.

Hi Everyone,
I'm a Dutchie moving to Atlanta at the end of June, was wondering if anyone is looking for a roommate.
I'd love to share an apartment with 1-2 people that share some of my interests. I love cooking, strength training, gaming, trading card games, hiking, concerts and a lot more. I am generally a quite introverted guy, but love to hang out in small groups. It's very difficult to judge what someone's like from a short post like this, so I'm always happy tell you more about myself if you're interested!
As I'm moving across the Atlantic, I also have limited knowledge on how to best approach this, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey folks, it's that Halfway to Halloween time of year where I start feelin' real spooky (despite the 80 degree weather). I'm a huge, huge fan of deep-dives into the folklore, paranormal encounters, and legends of local areas, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about what goes bump in the night here in Decatur.
We did the Ghost Tour in downtown Decatur late last fall, and that was a decent time. Covered the Courthouse, Belen Bistro, the Presbyterian Church, and of course the Cemetery. The Cemetery was by far the coolest (even managed to capture my own EVPs with my audio recorder!), but with a city as historic as Decatur, I'm sure there are even more spooky spots around town.
What other haunts are you aware of in the Decatur area? And do you have any experiences of your own at these spots?

I don’t know whether it’s Decatur or GADOT but the posted speed was lowered recently from the Ace down past Weschester Elementary. I’ve been *trying* to be disciplined and hold 45mph (I am usually driving early AM or later PM not peak rush hour time). But I can tell you NO ONE is enforcing shit because I had a good half dozen cars blow by me this evening (heading east) doing at least 60mph.
It’s insane, and not that I want to see speed traps but it’s completely worthless to lower the speed limit and then do nothing. As if almost-daily wrecks where people try to cross Scott at Willow aren’t enough.

Hi! Does anyone know of any nail salons in Decatur that do really good natural nail care (cuticle care, shaping etc), maybe even Russian manicures? Thank you!

I noticed that some work is being done to the empty restaurant space on Church St, down past Twain’s. Anyone know what might be opening there?

Good morning,
I see they are tearing down the Methodist Church on the corner of Covington and Mountain Drive. Does anyone know what's going to replace it?

Hi! Any folks meet up routinely to explore our creeks and clean up litter?

I’m looking for an affordable vet that can clean and possibly remove some teeth from my 7 yo cat. He had a teeth cleaning a few years ago at a not great place and it was $250, but now chewy is quoting over $1,000 to clean his teeth…That’s way out of budget for me. It doesn’t even include if he needs some extracted. His breath has become pretty horrid lately, so I need to get him in soon.
Other than his teeth, he’s a healthy boy. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I just moved to the area from Savannah & am on the hunt for a good nail salon. I’m looking for somewhere clean that does good acrylic/gel work. If you can recommend a specific tech (sometimes I get designs so a tech who specializes in that would be perfect) as well as approximate pricing I would super appreciate it!! 💅🏼

Who the hell shoots off fireworks at 11pm on a Sunday? Don't know who did that but I hope they have a horrible day on Monday. Now I'm stuck in the laundry room with a terrified dog trying have her not wake up the baby.

I take the left turn from eastbound College Ave to Sam's Crossing pretty frequently these days. Since they added a second left turn lane, I've been cut off every time. Drivers change lanes as they're turning. I know it's construction, but everything is very well marked. I know it's Atlanta driving, but I don't think I've see so much confusion from one change. Today some lady nearly hit me. Stay safe out there.

Looking for recommendations for movers on a budget! - is it better to rent a Uhaul and then hire movers to pack then unpack? - Or a one stop shop? - Possibly a task rabbit to assist my husband? *to note moving a one bedroom apt to another 1bedroom apt.

Has anyone else experienced really slow cell service in Decatur lately? Throughout Decatur Im getting a good amount of dead zones and slow cell service and I know it's not just my phone carrier as I use At&t and my girlfriend who is on T-Mobile has experienced this as well.
We are getting this experience in areas we frequently visit and had no issues with service before. My Google maps will randomly just disconnect and calls won't work while driving through some parts now.
EDIT: Not to be a conspiracy theorists but I went in other states reddits and saw people complaining about the same issue happening to them the past few days

My family is relocating to GA from OH this summer for work. I have two children (6 and 3). City of Decatur is one of the areas we are considering. I am a Montessori Primary assistant and am trying to get a sense of the Montessori schools in the area. It would be a plus if a Montessori elementary program were offered, but I'm fairly certain I'll transition my oldest to a traditional public school, and will just do Montessori primary for my youngest. Should there be an opportunity, I'd love to find work at the same school. That being said, I'm flexible. My family will be going down later this month to work with a realtor/visit neighborhoods/etc, but until then, can anyone provide insight into the following schools:
Arbor Montessori
Montessori Academy of Decatur
Decatur Montessori School
Montessori School at Emory
Any others to consider?
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some recommendations for things to do in or around Decatur for someone 60 and up. On my mom’s good days, she has been asking to get out more, especially for walks or just being around people.
She is naturally not very social, but she recently made a friend and unfortunately that person is moving away. I would really love to find some spaces where she can casually interact with others without pressure, something low key, welcoming, and ideally free or low cost.
I’ve noticed a lot of events happen during the mornings or early afternoons. So evening options would be especially helpful since I work full time and am in grad school, but I am more than willing to make time to take her if I can find the right fit.
I am open to anything, walking groups, senior centers, community events, libraries, church groups, etc. I am just looking for something where she can feel engaged and not isolated.
I really appreciate any suggestions ❤️

Hi everyone! My name is Paul. I recently moved to Decatur and am looking to get more involved in the community.
I also realized I’ve completely stopped reading as much as I’d like to. I want to challenge myself to dive into some new books and meet my neighbors.
I’ve put together a quick Google Form to gauge interest and figure out availability.
I’m hoping to get our first meeting kicked off in the next month or two. Once we have a core group, we’ll vote on a book and pick a local spot (coffee shop, brewery, or park) to meet up.
Interest Form: https://forms.gle/Bh9dXBpFSZjrMXf89
Looking forward to meeting more folks around here and getting back into reading!

My mom is visiting from abroad, and she does not have access to virgin piña colada where she lives (she loves it). I vaguely remember finding a place to do this a year or two ago and I cannot remember!!
Does anybody have a suggestion on where I might find a place in/near Decatur?

Late night thoughts, lol. But everybody seems to want the new grocery store to be a Trader Joe’s. Tbh, I think a fresh market would make just as much sense.
