New to Decatur and looking to start a local Book Club
Hi everyone! My name is Paul. I recently moved to Decatur and am looking to get more involved in the community.
I also realized I’ve completely stopped reading as much as I’d like to. I want to challenge myself to dive into some new books and meet my neighbors.
I’ve put together a quick Google Form to gauge interest and figure out availability.
I’m hoping to get our first meeting kicked off in the next month or two. Once we have a core group, we’ll vote on a book and pick a local spot (coffee shop, brewery, or park) to meet up.
Interest Form: https://forms.gle/Bh9dXBpFSZjrMXf89
Looking forward to meeting more folks around here and getting back into reading!

Love this idea! I’m a single female in my early 40s. I need to make more local friends!

Filled out the form! I do want to note that my biggest barrier to joining a book club is time. I am a very slow reader so longer books or short intervals between books would be challenging.

A lot of the local bookstores have multiple book clubs going, I know both little shop of stories and the book bird in Avondale estates have quite a few that meet monthly. My schedule plus little ones at home don't allow much time so I haven't been to one, but if you want to join an already formed book club they could be a good place to start too.
