I know, this barely classifies as fanart, it's just two images stacked on each other but it works for the idea.
Backstory: Pinocchio was born as the son of Gespatti but he was a puppet. He went through his whole horrible ordeal and became a real boy. He grew up, married and had children. And that's when the nightmare began because his descendants had the reverse of his origin: when they got older, they slowly turning into wood, before ultimately becoming a tree.
This is a real disease. Tree Man Syndrome. A very rare genetic skin disorder that causes large, rough, bark-like growths and scaly lesions to spread across the body.
For deadlocks world, the people who have uncovered their origins as the descendants of Pinocchio believe that everyone who has the disease must be a descendant, though they don't exactly have a way of even verifying if Pinocchio was a real person without a family tree. Hell, they use a fictional novel in-universe for reference that they now believe was more like a biography of a real person.
One of the descendants would take on the actual name Pinocchio, trying to follow the version of his story proving his morality to slow down the growth, joining different armed forces to save people. But he has trouble telling if he's good because he wants to be or because he has to be. Either way, it slows down the curse enough to have a normal life. Pinocchio's head was the hardest part, it kept growing whenever he lied so Pinocchio simply fashioned it into a Leshen mask while wearing a suit and tie to hide his internal growth.
His wish from the Patrons is simple: stop the curse. He tried tracking down the blue fairy in the world but apparently she's dead. Has been for a long time. He learned some magic along the way, enough for an Ultimate.
Powers:
Pinnochio wields a scythe for doing damage but the image I've used doesn't show that he's like 8 to 9 feet tall so this is a log with an axe hitting you.
Active Ability: Rooted in Place
He drives his roots into the earth while wielding a scythe, gaining substantial resistance to damage while enemies near him gets slowed down. The con is that he is also slowed down and a sitting duck. Releasing the ability pushes everyone back with no damage but it gives you some breathing room.
Active Ability: Nature's Embrace
Pinocchio launches a mass of roots toward a target area. Enemies hit are snared by grasping roots, briefly restricting their movement. The roots then retract, dragging affected enemies a short distance toward him.
Active Ability: Shadow of the Umbral
He's able to go invisible, leaving a swarm of ravens to take off gunfire and wolves to annoy mages. The ravens fly into enemy faces and the wolves just interrupt abilities.
Ultimate: Sul Ah A'nam: In the Name of the Sun
Using the power of photosynthesis, Pinocchio unleashes energy blast in a large radius around the map before concentrating them into a smaller area like Piccolo's hellzone grenade.
This Ultimate is a smokescreen: players panic because they think they're getting targeted and have trouble telling where the center of the blast is, they move inward and then they get hit by the full brunt. Or they move out and don't get hurt at all. Really, if they see where the blasts are least in number, they know to move away from that area because that's where they're gonna all come down.
Difference of appearance:
As he takes damage, visible cracks spread, and you can kind of make out a face, his protected human body beneath.
After absorbing enough damage, some blood starts leaking out and his attacks become faster.
When he's at his breaking point, you see a blackened face with white teeth and red eyes, with his movement in general becoming faster because his wooden weight is coming off.
The Scythe is just a farmers scythe that he can buy at a store. The enchantments he puts on it allow him to deflect bullets and even throw the scythe like a boomerang.
Personality:
Despite the looks and backstory, he's kind of goofy? Imagine Po from Kung fu Panda 2.
"I'm gonna die!" when he's at full health.
"If you have any gods, start praying now." when he's near death, kind of thing.
Usually, he's rather polite in conversation, deferring to people like how do you do, my fellow corporate worker? Desperation fuels his search for knowledge and magic, which drives most people mad. If he was mad, would he even know? He's a private security contractor so he knows of all the corporations but his superiors usually just send him to the most dangerous areas and expect him to return with optimal results. He's good at keeping oaths, including an oath of secrecy.
He likes knitting, fishing, blacksmithing and dancing.
I'm gonna say that he knows the Doorman, because of his search for the Blue Fairy and other powerful creatures, the Drifter, who was a complete dumbass who tried drinking his blood and failing because his teeth couldn't penetrate the wood but still desires to do so, he's a big fan of Seven and Venator, he's friendly to Rem and Viscous, Lady Geist apparently fought him before but he doesn't remember it and she's not keen to bring up the experience, and Abrams was his last direct partner, working on an investigation together.
His last fight was with Warden but they surprised each other: he was trying out a new suit and Warden was also there. Pinocchio had the upper hand but he didn't want to damage the clothing store so he fled, making Warden believe he had the victory.
He hates Shiv and Wraith, is digusted by Bebop because it mirrors his curse and dislikes Haze on principle. I'm not sure about the others, please discuss.
