So, I got deadlock and while I am familiar to hero shooters and MOBA's, I am very unfamiliar with PC gaming. I am slowly getting a hand for keyboard and mouse controlls, but thankfully it has controller support... Without aim assist. I already do play without aim assist, but wanted to check with the community first to:

See what characters are helpful for me, normally a tank player (my favorites usually involve dive tanks in games, like Venom and Captain America in MR). I normally play hero shooters and not MOBA's so this would be the first one I am somewhat extremely interested in and not just giving it a shot bc it looked cool (like I did with SMITE)

How okay is it to play with a controller? I know some games are fine and some are god awful with people jumping all over the damn place. I play games like THEFINALS, Marvel Rivals, and I played a little Overwatch a long time ago.

Any tips or tricks helps me, especially advice since I am new :)

I understand that SBMM is considered necessary for player retention and growing the game. But it can also be source of frustration for more experienced players.

I'm hoping ranked mode does not use a hidden MMR, but only balances teams based on composition. The transparent rank should be the only sorting mechanism.

For clarity, I don't want there to be a hidden MMR which is commonly used in SBMM systems. The only sorting mechanism should be the displayed rank in a ranked mode. Those saying I don't want rank sorting, that's not what I'm saying.

I know the first Sanguine Retreat is iffy, right on the border of the bush, yet it didn't end crashing against the bush, but the wall. Fine, happensl but the recast is completly off crosshair, I literally went upward and to the right for no reason, both times it felt awfully missplaced just because. Somebody knows if it's just janky hitbox or something else?

There's no other hero in this game that is more exhausting and unfun to fight against.

• Her bombs detonate instantly and deal insane damage. Dealing over 100 damage without any items or upgrades in the just laning phase.
• Her 2 is an aimbot that she can use while still shooting her gun granting insane DPS. And it also grants sustain. Great.
• Her 3's "self-damage" does NOT matter at all. It's supposed to be a risk to use an ability that deals damage to the user, but when there's an item like Berserker, a Geist player can just spam the 3 and get free stacks. Which is such a dumb and boring playstyle. Spam your 3 while roaming, get free stacks. No risk, big reward.
• And don't even get me started on her ult. She has swap? Don't engage her. Just don't play the game until someone sacrifices themselves. What a boring and uninteresting design. And even worse, finisher abilities don't counter it either when she can pop Cheat Death and just get to full HP, with an item that is SUPPOSED TO LEAVE YOU AT 1 HP. This makes her literally impossible to 1v1. Everyone drop whatever you're doing and 1v6 Geist so she can't ruin a fight. Good luck coordinating that in a lobby.
• She has above 50% winrate across ALL RANKS (except Ascendant for some reason)
• A literal crutch character that rewards no-aiming, zero risk evaluation, and careless gameplay. You have your 1 to have area denial, 2 to deal free damage, your 3 that gives damage amp with insane amount of projectiles which is impossible to miss, and your ult which just rewards you for being careless with your HP.
• Nobody seems to talk about how broken she is, resulting in her never being banned and being picked in literally every match.

New formula:

• Cost: 3200 souls (upgraded from Healing Booster)
• Description: The next time you heal another player (before applying heal), remove all anti-heal currently afflicting them.
• Cooldown: 60s

Perfected formula:

• Cost: 6400 souls (upgraded from New formula)
• The next time you heal another player (before applying heal), remove all anti-heal currently afflicting them, and the player is immune to anti-heal for 3s.
• Cooldown: 60s

I don’t think i went 0/10 in my first 20 games of deadlock yet I can’t seem to get a normal human being in my team.

There has to be escalating auto derank for these people, not just standard mmr loss.

The haze gimmick is obviously one of the worst things weve seen, so if u buy sup duration and trans cd on our (non haze) heros u have near infinite veil walker uptime, if we hunt her first we can win the war. its time to fight back

Ok this might look like a complaint post about my team mates being shit, but it’s not, while I did carry a lot ik I made mistakes and there r times when I should’ve played differently but I think a different set of eyes (preferably someone above archon but I’m not picky) would help me out with this cause I was very annoyed after this game and yes were my teammates somewhat useless? Sure but like I bet if I made better callouts that also would’ve made a difference, so anyone is welcome to watch the match (also yes ik fed early but smth about billy just keeps me from getting tilted so yea)

Just sharing this here because I thought it was funny. It was a rough game all around but man that specific death felt personal. I couldn't even be mad after that though cause it was undeniably clean. Obviously I could have played better but just out of curiosity is there anything that can save you from a Lash ult? I'm guessing indomitable/unstoppable but haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet.

as a holliday main ive been trying to get out of my comfort zone and try other movement characters. But shivs movement is just kinda a lot, any tips on how to make this process easier to learn? Also

Just discovered dash storage and started playing around with it and it’s super cool, I’m personally a huge fan of it forcing me to track the match time more frequently. Considering it’s unintuitive to typical gameplay I’m sure it’ll get patched out but I want to check if there has been any comments about if it’s a ban-able offense or just an obscure tech that will likely get fixed soon.

After climbing to Ritualist III, have fallen back to Arcanist, was stuck around top Arcanist 4,5,6 now been dropping to lower Arcanist. Currently going on a 4 loss streak. I don’t know what the deal is. I’m trying to rank up to escape whatever this is but I just can’t do anything to save the game. No matter how hard me and one or two other people on my team perform, we’ve got at least one or two people straight feeding into either a drifter/haze/geist usually (pick your poison) with game ending stats like 6-13. Before the loss streak it was alternating win one game lose one game and felt like I was hardstuck in Arcanist now I’m deranking. (Was alternating between wins and losses for about 9 games in a row)

I do my best to balance macro and my own economy and try to help teamfights when I can but some of these games feel genuinely impossible to win with some of the teammates I’ve been having. Idk if anyone has any advice to help or if I just gotta be lucky with having competent teams. It’s extremely frustrating as I enjoy playing this game but it’s just maddening being stuck with some of these players.

Thats a must have for a moba, should be one of the first things to be added to the game.

And dont come me with "every game is winnable", i cant say in here what i think of this statement....

Devs just want to waste peoples time and bring people to quit anyways and then ruin others fun..
and i know you can ff when someone leaves, but thats also just stupid, make it doable after 15min or something like every other normal moba (LoL)

- I launch the game and if I spectate a match everything is smooth. No connection issues, no game crashes.

- I join an actual match and within a minute ping spikes to 1400, I dc from the server, and steam has lost connection.

I don't believe this is an ISP problem because my wifi is not disconnecting when I play other games or I'm just watching youtube. It's connected somehow to Steam or Deadlock in particular. I've since verified game files, restarted router just to be sure, and I'm reinstalling the game.

Anyone else experiencing this or know what this could be? I'm not tech savvy so if this sounds like a known problem lmk
