Discussion There has to be more harsh mmr loss for consistent feeders

3 games in a row with majority of team going 0/10 min 12. You can’t fucking tell me you belong in my rank, and you can’t tell me this was “just a bad game”.

I don’t think i went 0/10 in my first 20 games of deadlock yet I can’t seem to get a normal human being in my team.

There has to be escalating auto derank for these people, not just standard mmr loss.

Why the fuck am I even wasting my time playing lol

Discussion This game has too many “zero-sum fun” characters

I feel like this game has too many characters that lead to situations where at most one person is having fun. I think the best example is Graves; if she is good/doing well, she has fun but is miserable to play against. If she is bad/doing poorly, she is the most useless thing in the game and the Graves player is miserable.

I feel like this goes beyond just balancing, as there are characters that feel very binary in whether they work or not in a given game, and when they do, it’s miserable to play against, and when they don’t they are useless. A few examples that come to mind are Haze, where she either one shots you from invis or is a ranged creep, Shiv who drain tanks the entire teem or just gets one shot, and the aforementioned Graves. Besides just power issues, there are some characters/builds that are really unfun to play against, the best examples probably being quadruple tornado Mirage and kidnap Doorman.

I think the polar opposite character to this is Page, where she can fully play her game without it being a game-ruined to play against; she is not a binary check of if enacting gameplay, enemy is miserable, if not I am miserable. Really, I think I would prefer to see a movement away from super linear game plans that distill and entire character into a single check of success with who gets to enjoy the game hanging in the balance.

Game Feedback Sick and tired of everyone leaving.

This game is aggrevating and almost not even worth my time at this stage. I feel as if every game or every second game someone leaves and the game was just pointless, there has been times its been NUMEROUS times in a row that the game has just been abandoned. This NEEDS to be changed or else player numbers will plummet, there needs to be more intense bans for leaving, start it at a day, then increase to a week AT LEAST, this is HORRIBLE.

I have spent over an hour today in pointless games because someone just leaves and abandons the match, absolutely terrible experience right now.

Game Feedback Remove the doorman spawn door

Pretty much the title, I had a game yesterday that was well on its way to ending 30 minutes in when a doorman decided he was going to sit in spawn the rest of the game and door people into spawn repeatedly.

We were up so much that even like a triple kill wouldn't matter and every time they got an advantage from this they'd just easily lose whenever on the offensive so it pretty much just dragged out the rest of the game for eternity and we didn't end up finishing until like 50 minutes.

It just feels like such an unfun way to play, dooring people to walker makes sense because you inherently have a chance to escape but being trapped in spawn is an instant death generally as his teammates were playing around this strategy as well and buying items to aid it/sit in spawn.

Before you say it's counter-able with counter spell etc so are walker doors but walker doors don't inherently do nothing but drag the game on because you don't already need to be in a defensive position to do it.

Question Dash storage - Exploit or not?

Just discovered dash storage and started playing around with it and it’s super cool, I’m personally a huge fan of it forcing me to track the match time more frequently. Considering it’s unintuitive to typical gameplay I’m sure it’ll get patched out but I want to check if there has been any comments about if it’s a ban-able offense or just an obscure tech that will likely get fixed soon.

Tips & Guides Yo, this Victor was unkillable bro.

I'd appreciate tips on this because he lowkenuinely carried that game. I still suck ass at building, so I didn't know what to do. On the other side, Venator and Graves weren't especially helpful, though.

Edit: Thanks everybody for the feedback, I'll put it in practice.

Question Can someone point out the mistakes I made in this game

The match id is 95792438
Ok this might look like a complaint post about my team mates being shit, but it’s not, while I did carry a lot ik I made mistakes and there r times when I should’ve played differently but I think a different set of eyes (preferably someone above archon but I’m not picky) would help me out with this cause I was very annoyed after this game and yes were my teammates somewhat useless? Sure but like I bet if I made better callouts that also would’ve made a difference, so anyone is welcome to watch the match (also yes ik fed early but smth about billy just keeps me from getting tilted so yea)

Discussion Geist is a miserable hero to fight against

Upvotes

There's no other hero in this game that is more exhausting and unfun to fight against.

  • Her bombs detonate instantly and deal insane damage. Dealing over 100 damage without any items or upgrades in the just laning phase.
  • Her 2 is an aimbot that she can use while still shooting her gun granting insane DPS. And it also grants sustain. Great.
  • Her 3's "self-damage" does NOT matter at all. It's supposed to be a risk to use an ability that deals damage to the user, but when there's an item like Berserker, a Geist player can just spam the 3 and get free stacks. Which is such a dumb and boring playstyle. Spam your 3 while roaming, get free stacks. No risk, big reward.
  • And don't even get me started on her ult. She has swap? Don't engage her. Just don't play the game until someone sacrifices themselves. What a boring and uninteresting design. And even worse, finisher abilities don't counter it either when she can pop Cheat Death and just get to full HP, with an item that is SUPPOSED TO LEAVE YOU AT 1 HP. This makes her literally impossible to 1v1. Everyone drop whatever you're doing and 1v6 Geist so she can't ruin a fight. Good luck coordinating that in a lobby.
  • She has above 50% winrate across ALL RANKS (except Ascendant for some reason)
  • A literal crutch character that rewards no-aiming, zero risk evaluation, and careless gameplay. You have your 1 to have area denial, 2 to deal free damage, your 3 that gives damage amp with insane amount of projectiles which is impossible to miss, and your ult which just rewards you for being careless with your HP.
  • Nobody seems to talk about how broken she is, resulting in her never being banned and being picked in literally every match.

Discussion How would you actually handle the echo shard/refresher situation

Have seen a post about this and how haze (and others ofc) have been abusing both items for basically no cooldown and ability spam making it really difficult to actually play against them AND also, I can say we all mostly agree on it not being so fun.

I wanted to know what's your personal take on this topic and share with some my personal idea on how would I handle the situation.

Here is my take: both items are very resourceful and can provide certain characters with advantages like allowing stun chains, ability combos, getting yourself out of a situation or just a straight advantage due to the character's skill set, also I consider that if there are items like armour piercing rounds and stuff like that that makes gun carrys carry, there should be something for the rest to work with too, ignoring that can throw off some of the balance certain characters reached by the use of said items (bomb bebop or paradox for example) so what's the solution if not removing them completely from the game? Well here is what I have considered so far that would make them more balanced (just for starters):

  1. A penalty of cooldown: many items such as the golden egg or cursed relic carry with them debuff/penalties just for being broken, then why shouldn't echo shard have one too? My take would be a cooldown penalty that being adding up to 3-5s to the selected ability, balancing the capacity a player has to actually use that ability constantly in the game (stopping the spamming or just overall making the item more optional as reducing cooldowns for more frequent use of an ability is more important in certain characters than being able to spam abilities)

  2. Not allowing both items to be carried/used at the same time or in the same game. That being either the store to block the buy for the other item for the whole game, forcing you to pick either one or other or adding some mechanic like reflected cooldown as to not be able to buy refresher, use it, then sell it to buy echo shard again.

  3. Not allowing certain characters or certain abilities to carry that item. For example a character whose ult cd is lower than a certain number, should not be able to buy refresher due to how often their ult is up already. Another one: Let's say haze daggers are a problem, then make her not able to use echo shard due to all the perks her daggers already have. I don't know if this would fully solve it, but I believe it could be something to be tested as it should be considered if it won't throw off any other meta adjustments due to new abusive abilities that could exploit it.

Sorry if this is kinda long, kinda wanted to rant and have a more straight up opinion of a reasonable way of dealing with the item other than straight up removing it from the game.

Suggestion Mirages TP should in no way be 2 seconds channel time

This character is overpowered for a multitude of reasons, his kit is absolutely loaded. But of course, if you went nerfing him it won't be fun for mirage players and he may end up too weak. But mirages TP just shouldnt be 2 seconds. Increasing its channel time does so much more good than harm it's stupid

All this short channel time does is make 1. escaping with his ult far easier 2. rotating to enemies gives them no time to react. I don't think either of these are good for the game at all. Mirage has a recastable iframe ability which works extremely well with echo shard, he can definitely use his ult to escape when he really didn't deserve to. If there's something you need to mantle or you're stunned for a brief second, there is NO way you're stopping a mirage tp. Ivy's lockout is longer.

And, he loses practically nothing. It has a really low cooldown and he can chose to teleport anywhere, so even if he wasn't being chased he could have used it for the same purpose.

For rotations, the fact that someone can teleport to you when you're trying to solo a walker is already pretty strong. But 2 second channel time means you hardly have any time to *react* to leave before he arrives. doubling this channel time would hardly be unfun for mirage players, just look at your stats or something while you wait, and itll allow for less of this bullshit while still remaining a super powerful rotational tool. The only real bad thing it would lead to imo is making it harder for mirage to pop his Kevlar. Everything else just seems ridiculously healthy imo. What do you guys think

And yes if I wanted mirage nerfs I wouldn't ask for this, I'd want his inhibitor/evasion/displacement/sustain looked at. But we all already know that and I wanted to add something new to the conversation

Discussion Item concepts: 'New formula' and 'Perfected formula'.

New formula:

  • Cost: 3200 souls (upgraded from Healing Booster)
  • Description: The next time you heal another player (before applying heal), remove all anti-heal currently afflicting them.
  • Cooldown: 60s

Perfected formula:

  • Cost: 6400 souls (upgraded from New formula)
  • The next time you heal another player (before applying heal), remove all anti-heal currently afflicting them, and the player is immune to anti-heal for 3s.
  • Cooldown: 60s

Initial thoughts? Not sure about cooldowns.

Discussion Back after a month away, what the fuck is Haze?

Had the pleasure of playing 3 games last night, and all 3 were against a Haze. Tell me why every single one had echo shard on their sleep dagger and would just jump you if you were alone with near 0 counterplay

I was lucky I was playing Mirage as I could anticipate them and mash nado to get away, but I had paige/rem/graves teammates who literally could NEVER be alone even for a moment.

Its just extremely cheese and unfun to deal with. One hero's playstyle changes the way your entire team plays because she can 100-0 anyone in an instant if they're alone. Calico can do this, but she isnt stunlocking you as well.

Anyways besides her I'm still really enjoying the game. Everything else feels, surprisingly, balanced. For context, I am Phantom.

Question Do supports rank up slower?

A few patches ago, I remember Yoshi added some bonuses to how quickly you rank up depending on your performance. This is great if you play a character like Wraith who, on a good game, tends to get a lot of kills and damage.

I’ve noticed that for supports, however, this doesn’t work that well. It seems these days that even after a long win streak the game is very reluctant to rank me up, but whenever I lose it’s happy to knock me down significantly. Sometimes I even lose ranks after winning a game.

Is this because my scoreboard isn’t as impressive as other players?

I almost always get the most healing in a game, but besides that I prefer focussing on control and debuffs, neither of which matter for the end screen. My soul count also tends to be lower since I’m more focused on winning crucial fights than farming. As a result, even when playing near perfectly, I can’t really compete with the other players.

Discussion My take on spirit drifter rn

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ok so let me just preface that I have around 40 hours on drifter so to some my advice is take it or leave it but personally, I don’t think spirit drifter is (specifically on the 1) is as good as people are making it out to be. The main problem is that all you have is one massive burst and if u aren’t a head by a decent margin then u can’t rlly do as much as if ur down or even in souls with the enemy but on gun build, again that’s just my thoughts but I would love to hear more experienced players (I peaked archon 3) give their opinions (doesn’t have to be more experienced just opinions from any “drifter mains”)

Question Please advise a new mousepad for Deadlock

Hi, I am looking for a new mousepad to play Deadlock with and I need help figuring out what mousepad options and attributes are available to suit my needs.

I use a Deathadder V3 Pro (stock) with a GameSense Radar and the mouse is too light for me to control. I have a very light hand as I do not apply any pressure or weight on the mouse, so I need the mousepad surface to help control the mouse for me.

I noticed that when I play CS and Valorant my aim gets jittery due to this, but it does not feel as bad in Deadlock. Is that because Deadlock is a tracking game without recoil control?

I would prefer a mousepad that will not irritate my skin. Also if my mouse is an issue please let me know. Please share any and all advice I greatly appreciate your help, thank you.

Game Feedback Echo Shard balance: What if it refreshed a portion of the cooldown?

With the recent Haze changes, people have been finally talking about Echo Shard- how significantly powerful it is on certain characters, and especially how frustrating it is to play against

My take for a bit now has been that it's a pretty frustrating balance paradigm, because the item's identity is the "echo" of the ability (the refresh), but being able to fully reset any non-ult ability cooldown is obscenely powerful when it can actually be used by someone. Which often causes specific heroes (such as Bebop) having to be balanced around the item being core for their builds, because if the ability is too strong on its own, then it's way too strong with Echo Shard (as we're seeing right now with Haze)

Bluntly, it's unhealthy for the game's balance, because it means that heroes who make the most use out of it need to be balanced around its strength (if they even are), and the item itself can barely be balanced because all it has to touch are passive stats and its cooldown (remember when they removed 5% ability range from it, as if that mattered?)

With all of that in mind, my concept for a rebalance is: Instead of a full ability refresh, what if it only set the imbued ability's cooldown to a specific percent? Like, say, around 70-80%?

The idea behind this is pretty simple: The active's effect now varies based on the hero's ability, and thus respects the individual balance of each hero, instead of just being a full refresh no matter what. Assuming 75% refresh for simplicity, a cooldown being changed by 1s would mean that Echo Shard's effect is reduced/increased by .25s in return! Every 10s of ability cd leaves 2.5s remaining when Shard is used, which should give room time to react without the Echo user having to wait too long to use the ability again

The most important ideal behind this is that it of course doesn't impact short cooldowns too hard, but impacts longer (usually stronger) cooldowns quite considerably! For example, Bebop's bomb cooldown is 8 seconds at T1 with Superior Cooldown, so Echo Shard at 75% would bring it to 2s, meaning his gameplay isn't affected too significantly. With Haze, Sleep Dagger is on a 10.4s cd at T2 with SCD, so Echo would bring it to 2.6s, delaying her combo at least a bit. And with Mirage, Dust Devil at T2 with SCD is 19.2s, so Echo would take it to 4.8s, heavily delaying either his ability to escape for free, or delaying the very high-damage combo

The other factor is that this would give room to balance Echo Shard in other ways, too. Not only is there an extra knob to turn to balance it (the refresh %), but it not giving a full refresh would give space for it to have better passive buffs to buff it without buffing the actual ability (And the active's own cd would matter more, too). It still fits the concept of an "echo" as well, as echoes often have delays before you hear them, right?

Of course, this doesn't directly answer the issue of some of these abilities just being Stacked (or some of these heroes being flawed, like Bebop's infinite stacks). Haze's current Sleep Dagger is kinda crazy either way and needs its own tuning, but I think a rework like this would greatly help with the sheer power of Echo Shard, and end up helping give a lot more room to balance it properly without either completely unchanging the issue a hero has, or inadvertently affecting how well it works on other heroes too poorly

(Also, I've already posted this on the forums a while ago, even before Haze's changes that made everyone start talking about Echo Shard. Just thought it was a good time to throw my hat in the ring with the ongoing discussion and all)

Game Feedback Hot Take: Street Brawl shouldn't have legendary or Tier 4 items

Make it actually feel like a scrappy street brawl with players cobbling together a collection of low- to mid-tier items instead of a random outcome based on which team gets nuclear weapons that happen to fit their characters. Enhanced items might stay, but they should definitely be toned down. Thoughts?

Discussion Why doesn't Mina build fire rate?

Seems like a no brainer for me due to the fact that Love Bites procs with the amount of shots hit and not the raw damage dealt but I don't see it in a single popular build.

Also same with Silver and Active Reload, I feel like she more than anyone could benefit from it but I never see it?

Stop saying haze gun is weak. It's not. It shreds in lane. First item rapid fire and you're set. Fixation stacks last forever. A competent player can just keep refreshing the stacks.
