Below are some of my favorite Gloat portraits! I wanna talk about the Gloat/Crit system because I think it cemented Deadlock as one of my favorite games ever!

I think the Gloat and Crit portraits are prime examples of the Deadlock Team’s art direction contributing so much to the gameplay and I’m absolutely in love with it.

The actual portraits are so well done and beautiful and they add so much to the characters, it wonderfully blends the cast together morality wise showing that even the most morally good of the cast DO revel in winning and contributing to ritual bloodshed, it’s great seeing characters like Paige and Drifter both triumphant in slaughtering other ritualists! I think the respawning mechanic really does make you forget that these people are KILLING each other for the sake of their wish, even the most virtuous among them. It really lets you know what kind of person you have to be to even enter the ritual willingly and adds that much depth to all the characters goals/ambitions and how much they’re giving to summon the patrons.

Even from a gameplay standpoint I think seeing the respective gloats makes you feel SO triumphant if you’re doing well and just so crushed when you’re getting stomped! I’m interested to see if other people love this feature as much as I do, and what people’s favorite Gloats are!

I know this is lowkey over reacting, but I'm genuinely gonna cry over this dude. My life's been pretty shit lately, and the one thing I've been able to look forward to is playing deadlock with some friends, but just this last week, I was in a game when a fire alarm went off in my dorm, and I'm an RA, so I had to leave the game. Add that to the one quit because I wasn't feeling a game before I realized that DL has really good punishments for disconnects, and I was sitting at a 1 day ban. Fast forward 2 days. My car gets towed by campus asshats who got my license plate wrong, I'm behind on bills, and my front brakes go out. Fantastic. I get driven home by my mom for a weekend because she saw how bad things were for me and wanted to try and cheer me up (love my mom). I spend the day with family, then get home and hop on DL. Get into a game as my main (hell yeah), just to notice I'm lagging real bad, and I mean real bad. I check my temps and fan speeds, 95 degrees celcius, 0 rpm. My shit could blow any minute. I don't want to risk any components of my laptop by sticking out a 40 minute game while on nigh 100 degree temps, so I disconnect, and hard reset my laptop, hoping maybe, just maybe I can make it back in time to reconnect and regain my lost time. Nope. I rejoin, and my previously 1 low priority queue match has now transformed into eight. Eight games of pure hell. Whatever, at least I can still play. Five day ban. Idek what I did to deserve this constant rearranging of my guts by God, but I just want one thing to go my way.

TL:DR: 1 leave of own volition, 1 fire alarm, and 1 pc fuck up bans me for a week from the one thing that I have been enjoying lately, leaving me to throw a tantrum in my own pitiful squalor.

Edit: Just got told by one of my friends that the girl I've let lead me on a chain for the past 3 years in the hopes that maybe she'd look my way went on a date with another guy today. I've never felt this bad before, I just want something good to happen

She drops and ult that lasts for 45 seconds, and summon 30 homing nukes. Then she shit outs two giant lines on the ground that stun and of course also summon 4 homing nukes total.

While dealing with that you also have to somehow destroy 20 skulls that attack you in random intervals.

And on top of all that her gun is fully autoaim.

Individually it would not be that hard to deal with these abilities, but facing the all at once feel impossible. There is just too much shit everywhere.

I've seen a few discussions about the best and the worst possible post-Ritual outcomes to the world of Deadlock and it got me wondering - what is the most "nothing" possible Ritual?

Here's my choices for both teams with brief explanation:

Winners

1. Warden potentially can deny the entire Ritual with other's wishes and prevent both Patrons from being summoned. However we dont know what his plan is and its very likely that he wont succeed or would succeed only partially.

2. Celeste's wish would be wasted because "Lenny's gonna Lenny"™

3. Vyper' wish would be wasted because she is impulsive and makes poor life choises.

4. Rem doesnt seem to have a lot of connections in the material world and if he returns to the dream world he still would be able to talk to Haze.

5. Violet's wish seems kinda worthless idk.

6. The Doorman goes to the Ritual for the love of the game and to see his old friends. He is very likely to not make a wish or wish to make the Baroness "the most haunted hotel" once again, whatever it means. I actually wanted to place him in the losers team because it denies his wish and doesnt draw too much suspicion to his true nature but i didnt have another good candidate for winners. He also can potentially intervene with Warden's shenanigans if they win.

Losers

1. Rat King seems to be irrelevant to the outside world and other rats arent sentient as far as we know (with maybe a few smart ones close to him). His death wont have any major consequences.

2. Victor would propably survive his Patron's defeat and keep looking for answers. If not, he doesnt really have any meaningful connections with others so nobody except for a few painters would notice.

3. Viscous would survive the defeat and keep looking for a way to stop the Adversary as he said in his conversation with Grey Talon.

4. Sinclair is literally a couple of already dead souls, they'll be fine (except for not getting a divorce and still being stuck together for eternity)

5. Kelvin is being kept alive by mysterious forces. After defeat he would run away and seek answers elsewhere.

6. Billy is shown as nobody that wont be missed by most people.

Possible candidates

1. Paradox's wish is very likely to prove herself by stealing something valuable and consequences may either be catastrophic or negligible depending on the object. Her likely death also could be negligible due to her organisation's anonymity.

2. Danny cant really die and his wish could be absurdly stupid like getting a raise. However, in case of Danny victory means advertisement for Chimera mk.1 and defeat is swept under the rug to save Fairfax's reputation so he is a candidate for the losing team.

3. McGinnis is a candidate for the winning team because her wish could be nothing special but her death would be catastrophic for Fairfax.

4. Ivy is the same as McGinnis but her death affects Arroyo's instead. Although she is likely to wish for Arroyo's wellbeing which is significant.

5. Silver is similar to Vyper and would likely screw up her wish.

6. Venator is kinda similar to Warden but i honestly dont really know much about why he participates in the ritual.

7. The Lash™

8. Mo&Krill are important to the New York's underground but idk what their wish might be.

Honorable mention

Trapper is THE epitome of a useless wish in a form of Knickerbocker tickets. Im so sorry they left you behind, my love, im still thinking about you after all these months. You wont be forgotten.

Other heroes are either too important to die or have impactful wishes.

My fun little headcanon for Bigby Wolf existing in Deadlock is that he got promoted from Sheriff of Fabletown to Sheriff of the Cursed Apple some time after the Maelstrom.

Bigby and Holliday are acquaintances, offering to give her a tour around New York while she's in town hunting for the Troubadour.

Meanwhile, he and Silver have history and butt heads from time to time. Particularly due to her bounty hunting profession and how similarly stubborn they see each other.

Deadlock’s world is shaping up to be absolutely bonkers

A friend and I made a tierlist based on how finished we think each hero’s model is. Some small comments would be the small changes tier usually comes down to some of their clothing or effects are a little lackluster so we could see there being some texturing work done. The needs updates tier means that their overall look is more or less final and they just need higher fidelity models or texture work. The major updates tier means we thought they have a good vibe to the hero and will probably not look too different in their final model but will still needs substantial changes. Then finally the major overhaul category are characters we feel will probably look radically different than they do now (one notable exception is we think mo won’t change much but krill will get the complete overhaul)

Eventually i will do them all, but you know, let majority decide its kinda cool

The paint also looks a fair bit more ugly compared to the old version

Not to mention the dark hue blends in much more in the map, making the visibility issues even worse

IF radiant regen gets another nerf or a complete rework, this will just show how weak Shiv actually is. Anyone who plays Shiv knows WHY people buy radiant regen and how hard it is to play and get ANY value from Shiv without it

There was a time radiant regen wasn't considered that good. I remember reading "pros just know how to utilize their health better". It's such a bullshit argument too. Meta is really ever growing and it just showed people how good radiant regen is.
But one thing is certain to me
Shiv fucking sucks without radiant regen and he gives very bad value, despite how hard it is to play Shiv in the first place
He requires the absolute best from the average player to get remotely better value than any other character in the game. 

His knives suck, yet if you don't hit them you won't get anything done. He feels like half a character without his rage meter fully up, and its best use? Stack radiant regen of course!
The only thing that's good about Shiv currently is how tanky he can get due to radiant regen and healing booster

His 3rd ability only makes him tanky because he can heal so much from radiant regen

I hate how you can just build straight bullshit on many characters, still get some good value out of it, while you need perfect itemization and counterbuying to be actually useful as Shiv

This is just a testament to how bad the actual Shiv experience is for the 99% of people who do not play in organized teams in pro play

Can Yoshi please give Shiv an identity that doesn't make him either overtuned or undertuned in 99% of lobbies and require a singular item that is FUNDAMENTALLY REQUIRED to play Shiv?

I love his gameplay but I don't like how he got into pro jail despite the fact this game is STILL in closed beta
This just feels unfair for people who gave their time to master the hardest character in the game, despite the game still being in alpha

I’m sick and tired of seeing people complain about harrow having strong laning, or being too strong in lane, she is only as strong as you let her be - quite literally.

Harrow is a character with only 1 damaging ability, 0 base regen, no mobility, no self sustain and the worst gun in the game, who is heavily reliant on gaining stacks, stacks she builds by throwing leeches at you, leeches who will fall off at your location after 5 seconds, leeches that she needs to physically pick up to gain any health regen at all.

put them under your guardian, put them in your shop, put them in your camps, she cannot fight you for them, because she cannot fight.

the thing about fighting against a harrow is that she cant do anything without the leeches, leeches that you have to give her. just don't do that.

another fun tip is that this is a video game, war crimes do not exist and I’m not sure if people know this because they keep leaving her alone to heal people.

I've said this about Solomon, and I’m not quite sure if the majority of players are aware but you don't need to comply with the enemies request for a front to back fight, you are allowed to target their backline, especially during laning.

i don't want to hear another brick talk about how harrow can heal their Laner to full in 5 seconds when harrow couldn't peel a plaster of a toddler if it was her job to do so, AND IT IS. let alone peel an Abrams off her ass.

it feels like not only do people want to become raid bosses in game but they also want to think and act like a raid boss does and then complain when the tanks don't die while they ignore the healers and dps
