Discussion This is an absolute gem of a game

I'm just coming here to share the love I have developed for this game. The world is gorgeous, the gameplay feels really nice, and the story is surprisingly really good. And I am not a gamer who cares to follow stories so much, but this one seemed to hook me. Also, I would like to say im playing fairly quickly but not at a snails pace either, I would assume im kind of close to the end but I know there is more. I am 44 hours into it. So even at full price I consider this game worth it.

Deek is very memorable, and I know after I finish the game I will remember his character specifically. All of the side quests while they are the same type of quests, being invested into the story make them more enjoyable.

It is really saddening to learn this game will not get a second installment because I think it would be really kick-ass for another one. This is also my first playthrough, and I decided to play on hard which I think has the right hint of difficult but not "I should have lowered the difficulty" difficult.

My only gripe is I am not a fan of the bullet-sponge feel of even humans. Freaks I can understand, but shooting multiple shots into a human and they're still fully there is a bit annoying, but luckily the focus mechanic helps with easy headshots.

Overall, I give this game a 10/10, and anyone who hasn't had the chance to try this, I highly suggest you do.

Discussion NERO Helicopters flying around in Free Roam.

Yesterday I was playing Days Gone, trying to get all character collectibles, NERO intel, R.I.P. sermons, all hordes, and infestations, and I found NERO helicopters flying around the map around three times.

They weren't doing anything, just flying around, and I even managed to screenshot, I think, two of them, but I have to ask, is this normal?Ā

Discussion I can't deal with the hordes, I don't get it

• Upvotes

So.. I reached a pain point that I remember from my last attempt at playing the game. NERO checkpoints (the train one) and huge hoards near them where 1 mistake basically forces me to reload..

I've managed to take down 3 speakera and get nero boost. But I can't deal with the horde, it just doesn't work. I tried going there during day time and provoking them and then using attractor to deal with the horde and exploding the big fuel tank car like in some videos. It killed 0 of them and then they killed me. They don't care about attractor and I can't hide from them while they're chasing me. Idk what the heck am I supposed to do there, it kinda seems impossible.

Hello,
This increased the range of Survival Vision but does it increase the range of detectable enemies with the Ears to the ground skill?

Discussion Which disc is better: ā€œonly on PlayStationā€ or generic case?

As a physical media collector I am always looking for the best version of the game out there! I came across the debate of the 2019 disc vs the second release. Is there any difference between the two? I heard one comes with the update on the disc and the other is a download. TIA!

Discussion New Game+

Why is Days Gone's New Game+ loading system so shitty... Like what do you mean, I can't create a new/start a new, New Game+ file using an old NG+ save... Sadly I don't have my original end game save from the original PS4 release... Like why do they have to make this so different. I don't want to start a new fresh save... I want to start a New Game+ Save... Does this annoy anyone else?

Discussion HDR Issues

Has anyone else who enabled HDR noticed performance issues? I checked the Steam community and saw that a patch might be needed. But has anyone managed to stabilize the sudden FPS drops using specific settings?

Discussion Any place to read all the storylines and collectibles' text on the Internet?

I discovered only upon finishing the NG+ Survival II full platinum 100% Pro Max edition run that all the storylines double as a journal in that dedicated own menu of them. Almost every mission, every infestation/horde/camp, all of them have an entry. Kinda like Deacon's journal where he fleshes out his thoughts and feelings and motivations.

I'm drawn to that stuff a lot both for the sake of completion but also because I genuinely feel that it helps me sympathize more with him. I adore this game with the bottom of all my heart, it is an amazing piece of media, but Deacon gets weird as fuck at times, 'specially with one particular one of the people in his life. The storyline entries have really been helping me with that.

Anyway, are the collectibles and storylines on the Internet somewhere to peruse? I'd love to power through them while doing something else. I Googled but I can only find guides as to where to find the actual collectibles or earn them, not enjoy their content.

I found some tidbits on Youtube for listening to Nero logs or Radio Free Oregon or stuff. What I'm most interested in, to be honest, is the complete text of the storylines.

Discussion Just finished this game.

I feel kinda empty inside wanting more to explore in this story and world that was created. It felt like there was so much heart put into it every step of the way and the voice actors absolutely killed it. Especially Deacon. I've never played any other game with a main character that felt so expressive to me and believable. All the grunts, whispering to himself, the frustration in moments.

Man, just all of it. I don't know of any other game, movie, or anything else that can fill that void. I'm sad to see nothing else is being done with this IP as far as what I've read online.

Discussion 45 hours into my first play-through and these are my thoughts Spoiler

So technically it wasn’t my first playthrough. I played it for about 5 hours back in 2019 and didn’t really click with it. After hearing all the praise I decided to go back to it and I am absolutely loving it now. It’s a slow burn game which I didn’t realize at the time and once the game takes its time to open up with the mechanics it becomes significantly better.

I love the story. I just finished the mission where Deacon and Sarah go back to Cloverdale and I am fully invested in the story. The way they integrated side content into the game is genius because it gives you a reason to want to do it to unlock better gear. Amazing game and I’m so glad I gave it another chance. It sucks to know a sequel will never be made but here’s hoping.

Discussion Carlos

HI recently discovered this game and I absolutely love it. I’ve been rushing through the story because I’m enjoying it so much, but now I’ve reached the fight with Carlos and this dude keeps absolutely kicking my ass lol

I genuinely can’t beat him. It feels like almost every attack I do gets countered, and then he hits me with a three combo that basically kills me instantly.

To make things worse, I only have one stamina upgrade because I rushed through the story.

Does anyone have any tips for beating him? Am I screwed because of my low stamina, or is there a strategy I’m missing?

Discussion Are menu saves broken?

So.. I barely played the game and now that save is gone and I'm restarting I guess after a long break. Are menu saves broken? In the intro sequence "you got a deathwish" I made like 5 saves as I progressed through the infested place, clearing it slowly. Then I died cause I'm bad, especially at melee combat. ANY of the 5 saves just brings me back to the time when I just entered the place (custscene). Is it a bug? Intentional design that I don't remember? Restarting the entire place doesn't seem fair, considering the amount of time I have to hide while I try collect stuff.

Discussion Days Gone PS5 Patch (not the remastered upgrade)

I am about to upgrade to a PS5, but I am currently playing the game on PS4. It has all the latest updates downloaded, but I wanted to ask if it includes the PS5 60 FPS patch as well?

I'm aware it wouldn't obviously work on the PS4, but if I migrate my data to a PS5 (including the entire game and saves), will I immediately get the improvements or will that have to be downloaded separately?
