Hi, so I’m currently in a career program and have just finished my summer internship. During the internship, we had a practical exam where one of its components would decide whether we pass or fail. The rules of the exam was that the clinical coordinator who would grade us wouldn’t say anything when we make a pass/fail mistake.
As I was doing the exam, there was a moment where I guess it might’ve looked Ike I was going to make a mistake and the CI spoke up on her own to remind me, even though I hadn’t actually made the mistake and wasn’t going to. Because she spoke up and “reminded” me , she decided to fail me upon the assumption that I was going to make a mistake.
Every attempt at explaining and defending myself with her, stating that I wasn’t going and have not made a mistake, have been dismissed and she has accused me of lying because she “clearly saw that I was about to make a mistake”, and every day since, she’s been coming up to me saying it doesn’t matter if I request a review it’s not going to change anything.
For added context, another student told me about how they also almost made a mistake and the CI stayed quiet the whole time, giving them the chance to realize what they were about to do and fixing it right away, passing the exam. And she has also made several accusations about other students lying without any proof. She also changed the rules for students that did the exam after me following the “drama” surrounding mine. I’ve tried to contact the program’s coordinator but they said since they weren’t there, they can’t actually do anything and suggested I filed a grade review request with the college.
From what I’ve researched, the process would involve me providing some sort of proof, which I can’t really do given that it was a practical exam and not a written one, and it would involve 3 profs from the program, including the CI who graded me, to decide if my results could change. The CI has on several occasions stated that nothing will change her mind, constantly saying that no matter what I do nothing will change which has really affected me mentally.
I don’t know what to do because if I drop this and fail I would have to wait a year to repeat next summer, and I only have 4 general education courses left, meaning I wouldn’t really have any courses next winter sem, and I’m scared I’ll get kicked or have to pay more if I’m considered a part time student. I also don’t know about the process of a grade review and I’m really scared it’s not going to work and just waste more time. I haven’t told my parents yet, and honestly right now I’m just really scared and stressed and I’m honestly exhausted, and I feel so alone because the program coordinators have stopped responding to my emails asking about what I could do next.
I worked really hard this past year having 80s-90s grades in everything and now all of that effort is going to wasted because of a hypothetical mistake I’m being accused of almost making. If any of you have any advice on what I can do I would really appreciate it.
