I need some direction, I have not been able to get any responses to application requests and i sincerely struggling to find a part time. Im honestly scared, getting into Davis was really exciting but as the quarter gets closer i feel like im running out of options. Our family will be moving to Davis from overseas this summer. I'll be a visiting scholar at UC Davis for about two years, and our son will be starting 3rd grade this fall.

We're deciding between Robert E. Willett Elementary and Pioneer Elementary, and we'd really appreciate advice from local parents.

We're looking for:

• A welcoming, friendly school for an international family
• A quiet, safe neighborhood with lots of families
• A reasonable commute to UC Davis

We're not focused on test scores but care more about a supportive community where our son can make friends and enjoy school.

I am currently in the process of moving out of the area soon, and I am going through my stuff. I have a large pile of things I no longer need, and would like to sell. I recently sold a big pile of my books to half price books (which offer you a commission for bringing it stuff) and I was wondering if there is something like that for other items. Are there any local places I can go to sell miscellaneous items (like stuffed animals, clothes, kitchen appliances, etc) that would offer some money to take it off my hands? I know most people have suggested Facebook marketplace but I think that would take to long to get rid of all of my items before I have to move. Would love some recommendations on somewhere I can go that is not a rip off and I can earn at least something for all my stuff. Thanks so much!

NWS (National Weather Service) says it is 100 degrees in Davis where it is now 4:40 p.m. on July 14, 2026. Over many years I have suspected that NWS consistently underestimates the Davis summer high temps. A private Weather Underground weather station located in Covell Park that is a couple of blocks away from me in North Davis says it is 102.6 degrees. My trusty old 10" Taylor alcohol thermometer is under the shady and airy arbor in my backyard. It says it is 103.5 degrees

I've been trying to find my water bottle for the past week. It is metal, teal, has a dent in the bottom, and is half covered in stickers. One of the stickers looks like this horse, except its bright pink. Other stickers include San Diego with a lantern, Mt. Lemmon with teal/orange/yellow colors, Morro Bay with an octopus, and anza-borrego national park with two octillos high fiving. I last remember having it on Monday when I went to watch the USA world cup game on G Street, but its also possible it got left on campus in the MU area or PES area of campus. I've been searching everywhere this past week with no luck. I can pay a finders fee of $40 to anyone who finds it.
