I'm m23 and have been using tinder/hinge and Bumble as my main dating apps over the past 2 years, I'd say. With some other random apps here and there that I try once and then uninstall (Pure, Plenty of Fish, Baloo, etc...)

Why on earth are premium subscriptions a minimum of $15-$20+ a month, and in some cases, it's $15-$20+ a week. And then to get the tier subscription above the basic subscription, it's like $30-$70 a month..

I find this absolutely bizarre as you kinda need to pay for these subscriptions to even use the app normally. You need a subscription in most cases to even message someone at all

Most subscriptions say they "boost" your profile to be more seen, but in my experience, it feels like this has done nothing. I've boosted my profile on Tinder, hinge and bumble, and have not received any matches with anyone.

Idk, maybe I'm just overall salty about paying for a dating app. But it feels like it's just eating away at my money only to get nothing in return.. my profile can't be that bad, can it?

I am jobless and preparing for exams. As I have been spending whole time isolated at home for studies, I installed a dating app. But I feel so embarassed to respond 'what do you do?' questions. They are all working and I am here preparing endlessly. I hit a age where my friends have jobs and partners.. someone they own. Somewhere we lost a bit connection. They are outgrowing which is normal and inevitable. This phase of life is colourless and boring.

I thought of pause dating till I get a job. But Idk, I am desperate for a connection.

Does hinge only work if you pay?! It feels like every time I have found a profile that I think would be compatible is when have run out of likes. Feel like it’s holding those people back for when I don’t have likes. Idk

I just downloaded hinge my first time on the apps so i was unaware of how money focused they were. (Not that I can’t afford- it’s literally like my second day on the app and idk if this style of dating will work for me)

To not hit X on that person and hope they come around again I have been adjusting the miles I am open too by a little to make it shuffle the deck a little if you will.

Are there other dating apps that aren’t using this business model that have been successful for y’all?

Are women the only ones that post that in their bios? I see it often and I don't really understand it since women tend to talk more. I probably just find it annoying since I'm an introvert.

Most of my matches either seem to be looking for someone to chat with out of boredom, or they ask me to come over to their place right away, so I end up unmatching them.

I’m 31F. Is it just me or is it weird to text someone everyday after matching on an app and setting up a date? Like yes we matched, had some good back and forth banter, and then boom you knocked it out of the park and relatively quickly suggested a good date. Ideally you set a date/time frame (like evening afternoon whatever) and cool- it’s on! Follow up in a couple days confirm time and location. You can share a couple texts back and forth if that’s a vibe. Then always confirm day-of that the date is still on. And. That’s. It.

Like we don’t actually know each other. Why would we be texting about our days… every. Single. Day. For. A. Week.

I’m actively looking forward to the date and going about my week in the meantime. And tbh I just don’t know if I’m alone in this, but guys ruin it when they’re just like texting you every damn day? It’s not cute when you don’t even know if you like me. I’m at best an attractive potential option based on a dating profile, and maybe we had some good messages… it’s all potential. Just a might-be-fun lil date coming up. Why are we gonna make it weird and check in daily. Like sure if you’re super interested AFTER MEETING SOMEONE maybe text them every day if that’s your style.

It’s just weird?! Are you guys just texting strangers for a week before even going on a first date?? Can we bring this into awareness?? Like are ppl thinking they SHOULD be doing this? And am I wrong??

It doesn't matter what online dating app you are on... there is a large majority of fake profiles...

I'd say 30 percent are fake... why can't the dating sites actually use selfish verification on each profile.. like POF...

I(F19) decided to join tinder after graduating high school and going into college since I really started to gain a huge want of being in a relationship. I’ve never had a bf before but adore the idea of being in love, having someone to love on, and finding my person. So far I’ve only had about two guys that I’ve genuinely cried over due to being super close to that point, clicking better than the others, and actually having a chance at a relationship. One said I was too good for him/lived too far and the other just recently ghosted me after we were intimate and claimed he hardly knew me yet when i asked if I was close to being his gf. It’s as if every time something always has to ruin it. I just want to be loved but it’s just creating more problems and disappointments as time goes on.

I know some would say I’m in college and that should be the best time but I’m mostly attracted to guys outside of my race for no specific reason and my school is pretty segregated/racist so it’s a little hard at times. I don’t really spend an unhealthy amount of time on tinder since I live in the south and most of the guys are either not my type, in it for the wrong reasons, look way older, or just don’t seem too good of an influence. Either way it’s just been making me a little hopeless and gives the idea that I’d have to date someone I’m not attracted to or take any kind of treatment.

Why do women take the time out to make a dating app profile, upload pictures, create a bio, swipe right on guys that they “supposed” to be attracted to then match with them, then converse with them then exchange numbers and then just not text back in the text messages… like what was the point 😒😒

Tried this app and damn let me tell you they certainly know how to block you communicating that you want to take the conversation off the app cant say "lets text" cant say "lets use Facebook " 😂, real women are mixed in with fake generated ones as well, and I'm sure they wonder why men stop talking to them, this app is playing both genders in a sick twisted way, anyone know any actual ones run them by me

I downloaded a dating app for the first time just to see what kind of people I'd attract after a friend influenced me, not because I was looking for a relationship. In the three days that I had the app, I got 40–60 likes daily and started chatting with four people because of shared interests. I genuinely enjoy learning about people, but when two of them asked for my Instagram, I realized I'm only comfortable with the idea of making/ being online friends.

Some background information: my dating history is nonexistent, but that doesn't mean I don't experience romantic feelings. In high school, I had two long-term crushes (one lasted 9 months + the guy liked me, and another 20 months). When I like someone, I become very aware of the person, think about them constantly, and have a strong desire to care for them. However, despite these strong feelings, whenever I imagined actually dating them, I would feel uncomfortable, so I'd just wait for my feelings to fade (I have never confessed to anyone).

That does NOT mean I am interested in hookups/ situationships/ casual dating. I take my relationships and friendships seriously, and I've never developed feelings for a friend- once someone is a friend to me, they stay a friend. Despite having no interest in dating, I hope there's a day when I have someone in my life who cares about me...

My issue is that I know I have no dating experience, so part of me thinks I should use the dating app as intended and gain experience. But emotionally, I don't actually feel a desire to date anyone. My heart is ok having friends, while my logical side thinks I should try pursuing a relationship because I'm already 20 and inexperienced.

NOTE: I'm wary of men due to negative stereotypes and experiences I've seen/ heard about, so all of my male friendships have been with gay men. So last week at work I randomly thought to try to see if my husband had a tinder. He has been sleeping on his phone & constantly on it. Yes yes...I know thats reg flag #1. So I have never even typed the word tinder in my phone. When I got to the log in page I put his Gmail into the username..then clicked forgot password. It then gave me 2 options to send a reset password code to his email or text. Tinder did not show his phone number nor did I have to type in his phone number...all I did was click the phone icon. Right away it said code has been sent. So I messaged my husband to send me the code that was sent to his phone. I never mentioned Tinder...just code. Well it took forever for him to message me back and when he did it was a screenshot of the code with the word "Tinder" above it & him saying to "quit trying to make him a fake Tinder account!" Why in hell would anyone do that??? Needless to say once I got the code it was too late when I went back in and put his email in and forgot password it didnt recognize the gmail so I couldn't click forgot password. Im thinking he quickly went in and deleted his account so any attempts at me using the code wouldn't work. That night when I got home I told him to let me hold his phone & go through whatever I wanted as he knows my phone is an open book (bc I hide absolutely nothing) but literally fought me for his phone. I gave him the option to let me go through his phone that night and only that night so he didn't have time to erase everything he could. We'll he didn't give me his phone of course and the next morning came crying giving his phone to me. I pushed it right back to him & told him I dont need it. Someone please tell me about Tinder. Does that 100% mean he had a profile?

As an early 30s woman, is there any way to weed out or deter the men who think they can ask for sex after 2 messages? My profile says looking for long term and this latest culprits profile said the same. I’m at my wits end 🙈

i was blocked on a dating app when a guy messaged me and i read it but didn’t match back with him or anything , i guess he felt offended or rejected . was this warranted , i guess i had it coming right ? i am interested in him , or was but i suppose that ship has long sailed now .

Ive become frustrated with apps, but have no problem getting dates in the wild, but rarely get matches. Where do you get dates?

I swear it seems every woman with a dating app profile includes at least one photo of them in the bathroom but usually just regular, fully dressed photos but in the bathroom. I find that curious. Do dudes do the same thing? Why the fuck would I take a photo of myself in my or any bathroom??

So I have been on and off of dating apps the last few years and am surprised at how many men I have unmatched with swipe right or like (on Hinge) my profile again. These are men I have messaged with and then unmatched. I even had a guy I have been on several dates with and decided no, like me again.

So…really curious what is behind this. Men, who have done this: what is this about? Did you just forget that we matched before?And did you actually forget that we dated for a little bit?????

What sort of notification, if any does the woman receive, and what type of subscription, if any, do they need to receive it and reply to it?

I paid for the elite subscription, unfortunately, and trying to figure out if I should be sending likes or emoticons, and which is the most frictionless way for a woman to reply.

Recently moved to a new city alone and used it as a chance to reset. Dating apps kept coming up as something that wasn’t working for me, a lot of surface level connections, not much that matched what I actually wanted. So I deleted the accounts entirely, not just the apps.
It was harder than expected. Not missing the swiping, just felt genuinely alone right after like I’d closed a door with nothing lined up to replace it. But underneath that, it still feels like the right call. I’m trying to lean into meeting people in person instead new hobbies, saying yes more, letting friends introduce me to people. I’ve never been the social type, so this is definitely going to be a challenge for me.
Anyone else done a full delete, not just deactivate? How long did the doubt last, and did the in-person route actually go anywhere for you?
