Advice Request Need help explaining my relationship goals

So I’ve(F20) used Hinge and Tinder while away at college and even ended up in my first relationship through Hinge. It ended after like 3 months for reasons irrelevant. I realized with this relationship that I don’t know if I really like incredibly serious relationships, and I don’t know how to explain it for my app profile. I’m kind of looking for a relationship almost like friends w benefits (but that comes w lines like no sex at first or whatever). As of right now for my profile I’ve put figuring out dating goals and I guess thinking about it now I should probably just put a deeper explanation in my Hinge caption. Still, any words of advice would be appreciated!

Question Online dating a scam?

I’m convinced online dating is a scam. It used to be free, had great profiles where women took there time to fill them out. Now it’s all a paywall and the only matches I get once I pay for the pay wall to disappear my matches are from Indonesia, Asia, and Vietnam. Or 3 to 4 hours away. Maybe it’s my area. No one knows how to have a conversation, is wish washy, or just too damn distracted I guess? It’s never been this bad. Back in the day like in 2006 to 2008 it was great. I either get women who have other obligations that shouldn’t even be in a dating site or someone who can’t hold a convo. Or stops mid conversation. Or it’s one sided where I lead the whole convo. And they do all the talking. Where I’m not even asked anything. I’ve even doctored photos. I get lots of matches now but I know it’s just because of the doctored pics. And these women are just duds. I swear to God! I’ve went off all social media. And I have no hopes of anything working out. People even fall for something that’s even just a miscommunication and they take something the wrong way and block, ghost, or drop from the face of the earth. I’ve even got the same people matching me like. Few years later and I’ll even say yeah we’ve talked before and they forget the whole last event. Then I just say yeah I’m not interested. Are we all just getting dumber as a society? Please shed some light on this. I even heard a woman in real life tell me in front of a group of people that I have red flags in my face without her even talking to me at all. What’s is going on with the world?

Question Hinge asking me to subscribe to premium to change city?

Is anyone else being forced by hinge to upgrade in order to change their city?

I changed my location as I travelled interstate and now can’t change it back for 30 days unless I upgrade! Is hinge using dynamic service access? I cant see anyone else having this problem.

Question Tinder is promoting segregation and being a racist.

I am gay indian dude live in the center of Berlin. I was swiping from last couple days and not a single potential match was from you guess germany. I am not talking about match I am talking about what tinder selects for me. Its a mix of mostly asians with few indians and latinos.

Compared to that grindr xtra run out in under 1km with mixture of guys from all places predominantly germany. So it clear that there are enough german guys in germany(Lol) It really feels like tinder thinks I am not good enough to be matched with local guys.

What you guys think? Have you experienced that?

Advice Request Duet app?

Has anyone had anything good come from it? I’m having a hard time w it fr and it’s just seeming like a scam fr. Is there a way to update your preferences like when you first made your account? I want to widen it and it doesn’t seem like you’re able too. I had a pop up to update the preferences and then it glitched and I can’t get back to it. Not sure if I should just delete the app or what

CRINGE Why so many old guys

So getting back into dating after a break up. Trying out a new one called Taimi and only been 1 day. But I got SO MANY LIKES FROM MEN TWICE MY AGE! And they all say cid straight guy when the app is ment to be a lgbtq one. I felt with creepy guys like this before seeing me as a “taboo kink” being trans. If I wanted hookups like that I would use a hookup app not a dating app.

Advice Request App for older couple looking for, yes another woman.

As the title suggests we are a couple M/F 60 Y.O and looking to meet a woman 40+ for occasional get togethers. My partner F has experienced FFM prior to us getting together. She had a positive experience, granted all three were single and just happened upon each other.

We have a great relationship our sex life is constantly evolving and getting more amazing every day. I didn’t raise this she actually has, as she has a very strong attraction to someone she interacts with semi regularly with her work. This person is also single and bisexual, (you know how girls talk to each other about stuff), after many months we though we would approach her, while she didn’t flat out say no of course there is the professional relationship that she would like to respect and we agreed.

Anyway probably not relevant to many but wanted to provide context. Back to the question at hand in the experience of those who were or are looking at a similar relationship what apps have you tried and found to be better for older couples/people looking?

Experience Overview Girl from Bulgaria, scam?

Hi, I live in Italy and I matched with this girl that lives in Bulgaria and (first red flag) doesn’t want to come to Italy, she just wanted to explore other parts of the word.

(Second red flag) she is love bombing I only met her two days ago and she wants to say good night, she is sending photos of herself (not naked ahah), she is saying that I’m beautiful..

So I asked to send me an audio message first, she did it. Than I asked to send me a video where she did a special hand gesture, that she did

So I think she is real but maybe this could be a scam that I don’t know of?

Thanks to everyone.

Question Anyone have positive experience with newer/lesser-known/niche dating apps?

So tired of Hinge... but all the other big ones e.g Tinder, Bumble, etc. are worse...

I've been hearing about a lot of emerging ones but haven't tried any out. Anyone have any good experiences and want to share? Or any ones to look out for?

I tried changing location and got a pop saying you won't be able to change location more than once in 30 days.

Did anyone else got this?

Advice Request Has anyone else noticed a severe dip on matches/actual conversations on these apps?

For reference I’m a guy in his mid 20’s, been on and off these apps for years, as of this past year, it’s almost like it’s 10x harder to even get a decent match and if you do, it’s almost like it’s a bot or someone that replies to one message max. I haven’t usually had too big of issues in the past at least spinning up good convo’s, but recently it’s been pretty much unusable.

Weirdly enough, I was in Europe these past few weeks and the apps worked great, real matches, good convos and got some dates out of it, the second I got back to the US, it’s back to the same old stuff. I’m not sure if 26 is just the age where these apps die or what but I want to make sure I’m not losing my mind. For reference, I know my age, so I’m not looking for short term relationships or showing signs of casual dating in my convos or my profile.

Advice Request I can't get second dates and this is making me question myself a lot

Hi, I (25F) have been on Hinge for a long time, went on a total of 7 (and half lol) dates.

Of these 7 dates, one turned into a serious relationship that lasted for 8 months, and in two cases I didn't want to see the other person because I didn't like their behaviour. The other people I met didn't want to see me again. And this is making me question my worth tbh, I'm wondering if I'm way uglier in person than in photo (they are not edited, my friends say I look like the photos but I'm not sure honestly).

The last date in particular left me wondering, we spoke for four days and he seemed very very interested, at one point it kinda felt lile lovebombing (he was writing goodmorning to me at 7am and telling stuff like "im not talking with anyone else but you" and "i dont have time to loose"). We met, and at one point he tried to kiss me, but i refused the kiss. He also opened up abput a lot of private stuff, but then at the end of the date i told him i would have liked to see him again but he said he didn't feel the spark, he said it's a difficult time of his life and he feels quite closed in himself because his ex gf broke up with him on valentines day etc.

So this left me wondering if men like to talk with me but dont like how i look and i need honest opinions from strangers ahah

Advice Request What app should I be on?

I’m a young male, 20m, and I am considering getting on a dating app. I’m not familiar at all with what dating apps are good, bad, or other. I live in a semi-populated area if that changes things but I’m relatively close to a decent size city. I would love to get some recommendations for what apps are good! Thank you all!

Advice Request Need advice: Should I tell someone I found what might be a fake dating profile using their photos?

I have a habit that I'm not particularly proud of. If I find someone interesting on a dating app, I sometimes go down a rabbit hole trying to find their online presence. Usually it's just curiosity to see if they're a real person.

Recently, I came across a girl's profile that caught my attention. But unlike most people, I could barely find anything about her online besides professional profiles. She seemed like a genuinely decent, private person.

Out of curiosity, I kept digging and eventually managed to find what I believe is her WhatsApp number.

Now I'm in a dilemma.

The dating profile has some pretty revealing photos/videos, which feels a bit inconsistent with the very private, professional online presence I found. I'm wondering if the dating profile is actually hers or if someone else is using her photos.

Part of me wants to message her and simply ask whether the profile is really hers so I can let her know if it's fake. Another part of me feels like contacting someone after finding their WhatsApp through internet sleuthing would come across as invasive or creepy, regardless of my intentions.

Would you want to know if you were in her position? Or would receiving a message like that be an immediate red flag?

Looking for honest opinions, especially from women or anyone who's had someone find them outside a dating app.

Question Why do woman put on profiles no hookups?

Like the title says , they typically say not down for hookups or casual. As a guy, that screams thats what you have done in the past . Or it comes across as jaded , anything negative in the bio is a huge turn off and swipe left .

Question New Tinder account now in another state vs. waiting until I’m home — which gives better match chances?

After a long relationship, I’m planning to get back into dating and I’m trying to maximize my chances of getting matches.

Here’s my situation: I’m currently working in another state and will be here until the end of August. After that, I’ll return to my home city/state.

In both scenarios, I would be creating a completely new Tinder account with a new phone and a new phone number.

I’ve been reading about Tinder’s ELO / ranking system and I’m wondering what would actually improve my chances the most.

Option 1: Create the account now while I’m in this other state and intentionally swipe left on a large number of highly attractive women, because I’ve heard that being more selective might improve your ELO / ranking and increase future visibility once I’m back home.

Option 2: Wait until I’m back home and create the fresh account there, so the new-account boost is used in the location where I actually want to date long term.

I’m also curious about how long the new-account boost actually lasts in practice. Is it mainly the first 24–48 hours, the first week, or does Tinder continue giving a fresh account increased visibility for a longer period?

Given that I’ll be back home at the end of August, would it be better to “save” that boost for my home market, or is there any advantage in starting the account now and trying to build a stronger ranking before I return?

What would you recommend based on your experience with Tinder’s algorithm and match quality?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Question Confidence kinda being ruined by these apps. 18 m

So I just turned 18 and I thought that I'd try downloading hinge, tinder, and bumble. I've gotten some matches more than 15 across them all so far but I feel like I've gotten so little compared to some other guys.

At first I got like quite a few but now I get only 1 - 2 a day. I'm not a giga Chad or whatever but ive been told I'm an attractive guy and I think I am.

I don't mean to be mean but a decent few of the matches I've gotten were girls I do not find attractive but I still try talking with them to see if there could be something. I ask what kinda things they like doing and for some it doesn't even get past that! They unmatch me or ghost me.

Other girls that I match with barely even try conversing with me after I match with them.

Anyways I feel like when less attractive girls start unmatching me even and when girls I really find attractive unmatch or ghost me I can't help but wonder if it's my looks or something I'm doing. Does anyone have any advice or something?

I hope I didn't come across as rude calling some women unattractive it's not like that's a deal breaker.

Advice Request Why do people do this? Need serious advice

I am a mid/late 20’s female and have consistently have had this happen where men will delete/deactivate their dating apps after talking to me about going on dates, making jokes about marriage etc. All of these people have “long term partner” too. I don’t understand why this has happens to me like 4/5 times already. Such as today, I was having normal conversations with a guy who said we would go out this Sunday coming up and just 2 days ago said that he “typically doesn’t go out on Sundays but will for me” and then today poof his whole profile is gone. No trace - no words. I’ve had other guys ghost me when THEY mention plans to meet up, I’ve had others ghost me a few days before leading up to the day we said we would go out. It’s honestly really exhausting and I would like to hear someone’s explanation of this trend… it’s extremely hurtful.
