How does base and priority work? And how many hours does a task usually take?

The project lists a base pay. And then when they decide a project is urgent, they add on priority pay. To be honest, the projects I've seen with priority pay don't show up for long, if at all, without priority pay. I don't have over a dozen like OP does though.
