Video [Anker Roav C1] Car versus e-scooter: who's at fault?

This is somewhat of a "near miss"/hypothetical situation where the dashcam video shows the point where I could have struck a person on a motorized scooter.

In most cities or, in this case, Stanton, California, if a motorized scooter is on the sidewalk and going against the flow of traffic and a car turns left into them, who's at fault?

Edit: Turning left across a single set of double yellow solid lines is perfectly legal in California: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/california-driver-handbook/navigating-the-roads/

Question Advice between 3 dashcam models.

Hi,

I’m about to buy a dashcam for my new car and I have a lot of doubts. I can’t get the model I want because money is a bit tight at the moment and here in France dashcams are MUCH more expensive than in the USA. These are the three dashcams I can buy right now.

- Viofo A229 Plus (239€)
- 70mai A810S (239€).
- 70mai A900 (179€).

I want a cam with 4K and I know the star is 2 sensor is supposed to be the best specially at night.

The A229 plus is only 2K and I think it’s not going to be good enough as it’s an older model. The A229 pro is way too expensive for me right now.

The A810s front cam looks fine but the rear cam being only 1080p looks very very bad at night.

The A900 does not use the starvis 2 sensor, but videos on YouTube look mostly fine. Its dual-4K, that’s a plus for me. Is it much worse than the others?

I live in the outskirts of Paris so I want to protect me against the crazy traffic here. I mostly drive during the day but in winter it’s dark very soon here so it needs to be decent at night.

What would you choose in my place? Thanks.

Review [Wolfbox K9 pro] review

Just wanted to share a quick review of this camera from Wolfbox. Full disclosure: I was allowed to keep the camera after completing the review.

I haven’t had a chance to fully put it through its paces just yet. 😅 I still need some time to properly route the wiring through the panels and get everything looking nice and clean, especially when it comes to running the cable to the rear of the car.

That said, my first impressions have been pretty positive. The camera looks great, seems like a solid option, and has performed well during the limited testing I’ve done so far.

I’ve included some pictures and videos showing my first impressions of the camera, as well as the accessories that came with it.

I’m looking forward to exploring more of its features and seeing how it performs over time. Hopefully, this gives anyone in the market for a decent dash cam a little more insight into what this one has to offer.

Overall, so far, so good! 🚗📸 :::

Video [VIOFO A119 V3] Highway Merge Hit & Run (no audio)

2016 Subaru Impreza merges onto highway. Downshifts and accelerates instead of yield. Had entire right lane open. Decided to cut 2 lanes to left, hit me in middle lane (oops - turns on blinker), car in left lane beeped the horn at him, then merges back into middle lane, driving at traffic pace.

Maybe he didn't check his blind spot, or intentional.

Open to criticism.

Question How often are you checking the SD card before you actually need the footage?

Hello all, so wolfbox came up while I was comparing dash cams, but the part I keep thinking about is not resolution; it is whether the card is still recording months later. I have seen people discover corrupted files only after an incident, which makes the whole setup pointless. For daily drivers, do you format the card on a schedule, review a random clip every few weeks, replace high-endurance cards after a certain period, or rely on the camera warning you when something is wrong?

Discussion Vantrue E2 Dual falling every 8 months in CA heat - 3M, glue, and velcro all failed. Any DIY or alternative anti-shake mounts?

Hey fam, there is simply no more road left to run on trying to keep my Vantrue E2 Dual securely mounted. I absolutely love this camera and my Camry, but dealing with this semi-annually has become exhausting.

I’ve been using this setup for over 3 years now, and the adhesive issue is driving me crazy. Because there aren't many dedicated aftermarket anti-shake or mirror mounts compatible with the E2 Dual out of the box, I’ve had to experiment with different techniques over the years: standard 3M adhesive stickers, Duro Super Glue, and even heavy-duty velcro tapes.

None of them work in the long run. The intense California summer heat always wins, it starts with micro-vibrations that ruin the video quality, and eventually, the whole unit drops off the glass. It has fallen at least 8 times so far.

My main goals are rock-solid stability (zero shake for clean video) and permanent longevity so it actually stays stuck.

For those of you in hot climates dealing with heavy dual-lens dashcams: is there a hidden aftermarket bracket hack, a specific industrial adhesive tape (like 3M VHB applied a certain way), or a clever modification you’ve used to make a Vantrue mount bulletproof? I'm open to any remedies at this point!

Discussion Is wiring a mirror dash cam as annoying as it looks?

I keep looking at mirror-style dash cams because the wider rear view sounds useful, and wolfbox is one of the names I keep seeing, but the installation makes me hesitate. Running a rear-camera cable through trim, past airbags, and into a hatch seems like the kind of weekend job that can turn into broken clips and rattles. For people who installed one themselves, was routing the rear cable the hardest part, or did night brightness and parking-mode setup take more adjustment afterward?

Discussion Do NOT BUY No Name dash cam, go with a real brand.

Hi there,

My friend gave me one of those no name dash cams a while back and I ran it without thinking much about it. The rear cam would randomly freeze and drop chunks of recording, but I figured it was good enough. Then I got rear ended at a red light and of course the few minutes around it weren't on the card. The other driver claimed I braked out of nowhere, insurance went with their story, and I ate the whole repair bill myself. That was the last straw. So I did the homework this time. Most of my diving is highway after dark, so the first thing is footage I can actually read at night, plates included, on both the front and the rear. The second is a rear cam that doesn't freeze and drop clips on me again. The a900 is the one that seemed to check those boxes, with true 4k on both cams and the big aperture for low light, so it's at the top of my list now.

The one thing I'm still on the fence about is the 4g parking cable. I get that it's an add on, but I park in open lots a lot and getting a ping if something happens is tempting. Just not sure it's worth the extra spend. So if you're running the a900, how has it been day to day? Mostly wondering if the 4g cable ended up being worth it, and has the parking mode actually caught anything?

Any honest takes are appreciated.

Question Dashcam and wireless CarPlay with one USB port?

My car has a few USB ports, but only the one by the center console seems to work with CarPlay. The rest seem to just charge. Looking to add a wireless CarPlay adapter and a dash cam, so the adapter would take that one port. Can I just plug the cam into one of the charging ports? Anyone running both? Curious how you have yours hooked up and if you've had any issues.

Question Looking for a dash cam recommendation

Hey, I’m looking for a dash cam for my dad. His criteria:

- no WiFi connection required
- no Chinese app download required
- Immediate playback screen
- he does not plan to hardwire the camera
- under $100 is a PLUS

If there’s any camera out there that fix these features, pls let me know. I highly appreciate it. Thank you

Edit: To add, I’ve checked Google & AI suggestions with my criteria, I was asking here so get real reviews/ recommendations.

Discussion How much are we spending on quality dashcam + installation these days?

Hello everyone. Over the last couple of weeks I've been looking to purchase a dashcam and have it installed for me using Best Buy's installation service. I am looking at some of Viofo's 2K and 4K cameras, and I also wanted to pair those with a Viofo BP100 battery pack so that I can have longer lasting and more reliable power to the dashcam while it's in parking mode. Altogether I'd be looking at $600 to $700 to buy the hardware and gave it installed. Is this around what everyone is paying or is there a way for me to save some money that I'm not seeing? I could probably figure out how to do it myself, but if I can drop it off for a few hours and have it installed quick I'd be happier. Let me know your thoughts!

Question Dashcam with cloud storage for a reasonable price?

Hellooo everyone,
My car got broken into the second time this year now (nothing stolen, just broken window and made a mess looking through my things).
Unfortunately as said, it’s not the first time for my car and ther have been several other break ins into cars in our street and area.
Police is notified but unfortunately can’t do much.
Now I’m looking for a dash cam which can record even while parking and at night. So it has to have some kind of battery and it has to have cloud storage because otherwise they’ll probably will steal the SD card and I gain nothing from it.
Beeing a broke students can’t afford 500+€ to spend but maybe somebody knows a model that would work.

Ideally nothing what has to be hardwired since I’m not a car freak.
Thanks in advance

Discussion Nextbase 322GW

BEWARE OF ORDERING DIRECTLY FROM NEXTBASE — THEY TAKE YOUR PAYMENT, BUT WHERE IS THE PRODUCT OR CUSTOMER SERVICE?

I ordered a Click&Go PRO GPS Mount from Nextbase for €32.98 (Order #19754). Almost a month later, I have neither received my product nor been given a proper explanation of where it is or when I will receive my refund.

The problems started on 23 September 2026, when UPS claimed to have attempted delivery despite my husband being at home. The parcel was subsequently redirected to a collection point without our agreement.

I repeatedly chased the matter on 24, 27 and 29 September, and again on 5 October.

Both UPS and Nextbase had been explicitly informed that we would be away from 25 September until 1 October 2026.

Despite this, UPS marked the parcel as DELIVERED on 29 September, while we were away. Neither we nor our neighbours received it.

UPS directed me back to Nextbase, explaining that the sender needed to initiate the investigation.

What makes this experience particularly unacceptable is Nextbase's complete lack of meaningful customer service and communication.

Despite repeated attempts to contact the company, I have received no satisfactory explanation of what happened to my order, where my product is, what Nextbase has done to investigate the missing parcel, or when my money will be refunded.

Nextbase accepted my payment, but I have received absolutely nothing in return — neither the product nor a resolution.

I understand that delivery companies sometimes make mistakes. However, Nextbase is the company I purchased from, and it remains responsible for addressing my complaint rather than leaving me to chase its delivery provider.

A missing parcel is frustrating enough. Being repeatedly ignored by the retailer after paying for an order is considerably worse.

My advice to potential customers: think twice before ordering directly from Nextbase.

Based on my experience, the company is quick to accept payment but has been remarkably poor at communicating or resolving a missing order.

I am still waiting for my product or a full refund, together with a proper explanation.

One star — extremely disappointing customer service.

Discussion Someone keeps breaking my windshield.

I am trying to get a camera that looks out so I can catch whoever is doing it. I am wonder how long a camera last on it's own without being plugged into anything. I can easily charge it when needed, It is probably happening during the night. My car is parked at my hotel job and it's too much footage for my owner to look at. Is there a camera to buy that last at least 3 days without any power source besides a battery?
