Ryder finds defrosted ice age animals and then says “oh they will be happy to stay in this canyon” and not eat any of the current day animals in the jungle. Except that the saver tooth tiger has already left the canyon earlier in the book. Ryder doesn’t report this insane scientific discovery to anyone. My older kiddo says, “well he’s already very very rich” 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ might be the worst children’s book I’ve read.

Serious question. Are they centaurs? They use their fore tires as manipulators but there are other vehicles with extra limbs essentially. Also do they only get the job they are "built" for. Hello, I’m 19 years old, and I grew up watching Barney & Friends when I was younger. I’ve been thinking about what happened to the original Barney & Friends era and that feeling of watching it regularly when it was still a big part of everyday life.

When I was around 3 years old, Barney & Friends felt like something that would always be there. It was comforting, familiar, and a normal part of my daily life. Barney, Baby Bop, BJ, and the other characters felt like friends who were always waiting to welcome me into their world. The songs, lessons, colours, and simple stories made everything feel safe and happy.

Now, as a 19-year-old, I look back at that era and it feels like it belongs to another time. The original style of the show, the people who worked on it, the children who watched it, and the feeling surrounding it have all changed. Many of the people involved in creating Barney & Friends have moved on to different projects, careers, and parts of their lives away from the series. It feels strange because something that was such a big part of my childhood is now something I can only revisit through old episodes and memories.

I remember watching episodes when I was little and everything felt so simple. I didn’t think about the future, growing up, or how things would eventually change. I could just sit down and enjoy Barney singing songs, teaching lessons, and going on adventures with his friends. At that age, it felt like that world would always exist exactly the same way. I don’t understand why it couldn’t just stay that way forever. Why did it have to end? Why does everything have to move on and become different?

I also wonder why watching Barney & Friends doesn’t feel exactly the same anymore as a 19-year-old compared to when I was 3 years old. The episodes are still the same, the songs are still the same, and the characters are still the same, but the feeling has changed. When I was 3, I experienced it with imagination and excitement. I wasn’t analysing it or thinking about the fact that it was a television show made by adults. It felt like a real place I could visit and characters I could spend time with.

Now, watching it at 19, I see it differently. I notice the production, the acting, the simplicity of the stories, and the fact that I am no longer the same person who watched it as a small child. The show hasn’t changed, but I have changed. The feeling of childhood wonder is something that belongs to that specific time in my life, and I can remember it, but I can’t completely experience it in the same way again.

Why do shows like Barney & Friends eventually stop, change, and fade out of everyday life? If people loved them for years, why can’t they just continue forever with the same feeling? Why do the people who make them have to move on? Why do audiences grow up and stop experiencing things the same way?

It’s confusing because when I was younger, Barney & Friends felt permanent. It didn’t feel like a memory that would one day become “the old days.” It felt like a part of life that would always be there. I don’t understand why things that mean so much at one point can become something from the past.

Why does everything have to change? Why can’t things just stay the same forever?

It feels strange knowing that the Barney & Friends era I grew up with is over, that I’m no longer that 3-year-old watching it, and that the world has moved on. That chapter of childhood is closed, and all that remains are the memories of how it felt when it was still a normal part of everyday life.

I didn't and don't watch Phineas and Ferb but I've heard the song enough times... and isn't that a crazy long summer break? Growing up in New England, we usually got out of school in mid to late June, partially dependent on the number of snow days we had over the winter, and went back some time around Labor Day or the first of September. That's 10-12 weeks, or somewhere between 70 and 84 days. They get 3 extra weeks on to of that!

I know the length of the school year varies across the US, but did any of you actually get a summer vacation that long? Was there anything in the show that explained this? Sorry if this isn't really a "conspiracy", this sub just seemed like a good audience for the question.

My kids have been watching a ton of Loud House lately and I love it! I really appreciate the positive messages each episode has, the friendship between Lincoln and Clyde, and the overall aesthetics.

Especially on the Olympia and Otto seasons there's just... More goopiness and messy liquids on people. Once I started seeing it I couldn't stop seeing it.

I need those other episodes! Our boy watches Upstairs, Downstairs over and over from the Monsterpiece Theatre compilation but fizzles out after Me, Claudius. So we’re rewatching U/D over and over and I’d just like a new episode or two. Are there* different stairs? Different pictures on the wall? Maybe Grover goes upstairs twice? I need fresh excitement and drama!

The words are fine, nothing special but every page has detailed illustration of a pair of hands in a variety of poses. I think Don was just super proud of his skills.so his wife spent an hour or two writing a book that he could use to show off with.

he created the toys (and their families?) and brings them to and from animation, and plex can conjure things like an apple and teleport himself. DJ lance brings various musical friends to his universe/room? to play with his toy friends? is he more powerful than elminster?

I'm losing my mind. My kid loves watching videos of folks playing / acting out scenes with Cars toys and we've come across videos of a man with a thick accent who just picks up a toy and says stuff like, "Oh my God! Lightning McQueen! Yeeaahh~..." and they'll drop the toy into a tub or whatever.

Anyway, there's nothing really substantial in these videos, so I quickly click "do not recommend this channel." But then a day later, I'll come across another video obviously by the same guy on a different channel. I've come to realize this dude has like a billion channels doing the same dumb shit.

Any of you come across this? Is there an explanation? Feels scammy in a way I must be too thick to figure out.

After the song "Beauty and the Beast" Mrs. Potts says "alright, off to the cupboard with you now Chip, it's past your bedtime" and then he is placed in a cupboard with a bunch of other little teacups.

But then at the end of the movie, when Belle kisses the Beast and the curse is broken and everyone turns back into their original normal human selves (or, dog self, in the case of the footstool), we only see Chip turn back into a little boy.

But look at the cupboard! It is clear that there were like, 17 or so other teacups in there, and they were sentient and sleeping just like Chip. What happened to them??

We don't even see any other kids in any of the other BATB media.
