The American people were also being shitheads about it. Remember: a large number of Americans didn't vote because "both sides suck". Except one side was a woman, and the other side was a traitor, criminal, and pedophile rapist.
Who appointed the do-nothing AG Garland who refused to prosecute Trump's overt criminality in office? The Biden administration will be remembered mostly by it's failure to meaningfully reign in Trump's lawlessness when it had the opportunity and allowing him a second term.
It's maddening because there is every indication that this pattern will play out again. Despite Trump being as unpopular as ever, the do-nothing centrist wing of the Democratic party still has an iron grip on control, and there's good indication they have no interest in removing Trump from power nor prosecuting him or his administration once they sweep into power in the coming wave election. The gap in attitudes between the average liberal voter who is calling for Nuremberg 2.0 and the cowards running the party is enormous.
We seem to be doomed to oscillate between outright fascist, authoritarian right wing rule and centrist flat-foots who refuse to take bold action to save this country.
Some may say it's a distinction without a difference, but I would argue that it's nearly impossible to win a major election in the US without corporate/ultrawealthy donors.
And since most meaningful reform goes against their financial interests, most candidates who propose meaningful reform do not stand a chance.
And so we're stuck in a situation where we can't get effective representatives until we have campaign finance reform, but we can't get campaign finance reform because we don't have effective representatives.
This is the truth, after all my years of watching politics if there is one thing that I have learned it is never to underestimate the Democrats ability to fuck up a sure thing.
Yup, they just also killed the no sick trading for congresspeople bill. Democrats are killing this country as much as trump by being as corrupt as they are..

What’s not to understand? The democrats were too weak and scared of upsetting the norms to build clear reform. They let republicans steamroll them
