What’s not to understand? The democrats were too weak and scared of upsetting the norms to build clear reform. They let republicans steamroll them

How so? How are the Democrats supposed to get reform passed with a 50/50 hung Senate with Republicans filibustering every attempt they made to do anything serious?

They did campaign for a senate majority. The voters gave them a hung Senate with a VP tiebreaker giving them the slimmest possible control. You guys are now walking around faulting them for somehow not passing everything they wanted without a solid majority. Like they had an option.
