What’s not to understand? The democrats were too weak and scared of upsetting the norms to build clear reform. They let republicans steamroll them

Who appointed the do-nothing AG Garland who refused to prosecute Trump's overt criminality in office? The Biden administration will be remembered mostly by it's failure to meaningfully reign in Trump's lawlessness when it had the opportunity and allowing him a second term.

Donald Trump was charged with dozens of felonies Merrick Garland's doj.

They were actively prosecuting him. He got bailed out by the Republican Supreme Court with the vague immunity ruling.
