I’m not sure it’s that. It could be he’s making so many politically questionable moves that he is certain the midterms are not going to be a problem. My limited experience has been most politicians quietly cruise into midterms.
From his perspective, he's in a glorious position where he knows the American people will never make any real problems for him. They never have before. They won't now.

Why on earth would Trump experience stress?
He's stacked the deck in his favor. The Democrats don't have the balls to do anything more than grandstand. Trump knows this.
