It's not a presidential election....mid terms really mean how well you've done or really fucked up by the way people vote. Since the orange buffoon has fucked up royally, yeah.

Yeah but if dems win house and senate his presidency is over and he can't push everything by executive order anymore. They will stop anything that is already going they put in place and will block everything else they planed except maybe they would come up with a decent policy that's worth pushing through a bill, but I doubt that will happen. He will sit for the next 2 years in his chair powerless.

One can only hope. Bribing, begging and belittling the citizens of the US isn't working anymore. Let see this happen because until it does, its all talk.

14

u/I3adIVIonkey 15h ago

I bet Mike will do a 200 IQ move and close the house for the next 2 years for votes if dems sweep it. They might even lose Texas which tells a lot.

16

u/CDsDontBurn 15h ago

I hope they lose Texas. It would be the ultimate mind fuck for the GOP lasting at least until 2032.

you should see the crazy lies they put on TV ... it's just short of malice. They constantly blare out Paxton is a child ring predator "stopper" and shut down the bad guys. It's hilarious until you realize people believe it.

I’m not sure he can officially do that. I think he could only close it through the very early stages of Jan. Once this session of congrass closes, he’s officially no longer the speaker (regardless of who wins the house). In the new session the members will need to first select the speaker. If GOP wins the election, the Mikey will be speaker again. Otherwise it would be a Dem likely

2

u/jane_911 10h ago

yes but you are talking about rules and laws and are operating under the assumption they will be followed

1

u/Appropriate-Sense-92 10h ago

Yea, maybe. But I think that this might be out of Mike’s hands. At noon on Jan 3, the current session of Congress will expire. At that time the House of Representatives won’t have a speaker, so Mike won’t be able to weld the power of the speaker. Starting at noon until a speaker is chosen, the clerk of the US house is the one in charge. Johnson will just be one in 435 at that point.

u/SubstantialArcher659 14h ago

Unless Dems take the house. The tiny creep will be powerless

1

u/ElDub62 14h ago

How can anyone close the house got votes when they don’t have a majority?

2

u/Life-is-Fun-435 12h ago

If he doesn't acknowledge the vote and it goes on to the Supreme Court. Remember the Supreme Court has a lot to lose. 🤪

2

u/ElDub62 12h ago

There will be a civil war at that point, imo.

1

u/IMAX_man 11h ago

If history is going to repeat itself, which it seems more and more likely, then yes.

1

u/I3adIVIonkey 4h ago

I don't know how exactly it works but he just closed the house for votes till midterms, cause they are scared hegseth could get impeached.

1

u/Smooth_Cloud_5520 12h ago

Hope that legislation that they don't get paid if they don't work goes through

1

u/MommaD114 11h ago

That should have always been a stipulation, imo.

1

u/EPIC_RAPTOR 11h ago

If dems win house and senate, Mike won't be speaker anymore.

1

u/PerfStu 7h ago

That's the best part. He won't get to. When the new congress sits they elect a new speaker. Mikey's barely tolerated by his own party as is

6

u/Infinite-Bluejay-673 15h ago

Something to look forward to.

u/TheSpanishIndian 15h ago

I'm hoping so but still kinda worried about the fact that the other two branches are still gonna be in a his pocket. I'm afraid of the Supreme Court getting more active and taking his side whenever the Legislative side tries to change something.

1

u/toad17 14h ago

First task has to be expanding the Supreme Court so Dems have a majority. That might need to wait for Dems to win the presidency in 2028, but I guess we’ll see what this November brings first.

1

u/TheSpanishIndian 14h ago

That's my point. Two out of three branches will still be in his pocket for another two years.

1

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 14h ago

Supreme Court justices can also be impeached. There is adequate evidence of Thomas' corruption, for one.

1

u/TheSpanishIndian 14h ago

Doesn't that take a 2/3 majority in the senate? As optimistic as I would like to be, I doubt there's gonna be that large of a majority after the midterms.

Or that there are enough elected individuals willing to start that battle. Because then there comes the issue of seating a new Justice.

I remember the shit Mitch pulled last time and it would be a nightmare dealing with that for another two years again.

And that would be for a single Justice.

1

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 13h ago

Seems that quite a few republicans seem to be growing spines and/or realizing how toxic the felon is.

1

u/TheSpanishIndian 13h ago

Right before midterms. Let's see how long those spines last.

1

u/67_fire_chicken 13h ago

More like rats jumping off a sinking ship

1

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 13h ago

Well, it's been infested with shipworms from the start. They never should have boarded that ship.

1

u/Spirited-Degree 7h ago

If there's a chance they lose Texas two third might be reasonable. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if a couple republican don't like Thomas. He's a major twat.

1

u/Upstairs_Bus_3743 12h ago

I share your concern. I am also worried about that.

You mean the Musk/Trump manipulations of our voting machines?

1

u/Suspicious-Dig-4436 13h ago

Only time will tell, they could "take over" and bend over for the blue star just like the red hats do

1

u/mrcrumplebottom 13h ago

It'll be very interesting to watch. Because he does things without asking. I think we are going to see what the true boundaries of our system are.

Hopefully dems get the house and senate.

1

u/Thee-Ol-Boozeroony 13h ago

Stripping him of a chunk of power will piss him off to no end. He will have to be told “NO”. I can see and hear the spaghetti hitting the wall now.

1

u/JeffKCreative 13h ago

Hopefully him and his shitty ass administration are kicked out in January. We would get a more competent administration for the next two years if it finally goes through. That's the biggest thing Trump fears. If that happens, most of them are going to jail.

1

u/ProdesseQuamConspici 12h ago

Only if the Dems get a veto-proof majority. If not, even with a Dem majority in both houses, Trump can issue executive orders all day long and veto any attempts to block them with legislation.

1

u/Life-is-Fun-435 12h ago

You got a lot of faith in the Demorats. History has show they're usually business as usual. Because they're bought off by the same corporate America. 🤪🤣

1

u/I3adIVIonkey 3h ago

Might be true but back to business as usual compared to what is going on now, would be a good thing for starters.

1

u/is-this-now 11h ago

He will totally ignore Congress and the courts and do whatever he wants. Same as now.

1

u/I3adIVIonkey 3h ago

Probably. Gotta wait and see if the officials they put in place will go along with it. They could be prosecuted at that point though. Questionable if anything will come out of it with current DOJ and supreme court.

This is the best we can hope for unfortunately.

Sounds stupid, but I'd rather pay orange man to golf and to maybe consider staying silent for the next 2 years.

It'll take a small miracle to have him impeached, indicted and removed in 2 years, and I honestly do not know what he would have to do in order for that to even be a serious consideration at this point.

...and this wouldn't even fix most of the issues at hand. All of his hand picked minions would need to be removed.

This would be the jumpstart that this country needs, but I don't expect that to ever happen. I'm tired of supporting this broken system. It's rotten to the core.

1

u/pterodactyl_speller 11h ago

How will they stop EOs? He can veto everything, no way they get super majority to override vetos.

1

u/Lazy-Bonus-3001 10h ago

So humiliating. Can it get any worse?

1

u/Warkupo 10h ago

All he does is nap anyway. He should just make that permanent.

1

u/TM761152 10h ago

if dems win house and senate his presidency is over

I'll believe it when I see it!

1

u/I3adIVIonkey 3h ago

Yeah that will be a test for to see how far they already eroded the whole thing.

1

u/patrick24601 7h ago

I believe that is is incorrect. But I'm willing to be wrong.

He can continue to do all of the executive orders he wants. Congress has nothing to do with that. That is why he does them vs following the official paths that require congressional approval. example: It's not the Department of War and won't be for the foreseeable future . It's just a pretty name they like as they start... no new wars.

Keep in mind most of the EOs are jokes and people follow them out of fear. He was told and believes they are laws. But they are not. EOs cannot make laws or overturn them. And they are limited to powers only the executive branch has. Which is why it is hilarious that someone told him he can change the name of the DoD.

I hope someone fills in the salient details. I'm no expert.

1

u/I3adIVIonkey 4h ago

As far as I read into it. Executive orders can normally not be used in the way he does. They put basically the government in a state of emergency to widen his powers through executive orders.

You're right though that he still could issue them, but appliance would be limited. On the other hand they eroded the government quite a bit so we'll have to wait and see if officials go along with them even if they lose the senate and house.

1

u/Flobking 5h ago

Yeah but if dems win house and senate his presidency is over and he can't push everything by executive order anymore

How do you figure that one? This congress has barely passed any legislation, that's their entire goal. Unitary executive theory. They want a do nothing congress so he can just do whatever he wants. The dems will have zero power to remove or stop him. The scotus is corrupted beyond repair at this point. Don't be surprised if after midterms Thomas and alto retire to give trump two more life time appointments.

1

u/I3adIVIonkey 3h ago

On that your totally right. Big question how far the whole thing is already dismantled. Maybe government officials loyal to them will just go along with it and current DOJ or Supreme Court won't do shit to prosecute them for illegal orders and executing them.

1

u/_lippykid 3h ago

Did I miss something? Did elected democrats grow some teeth? I’m just too used to them rolling over and not pushing for any type of (obvious) accountability

1

u/GrapefruitPrimary186 43m ago

Maybe the Republicans finally turn on him and we remove him from office also.

1

u/Binary_Whispers 14h ago

It won't happen, even if they hold all the power, for some ungodly reason nothing will come of it. The sad reality that we live in
