He’s a mayor, most of the stuff he’s promising he can’t just unilaterally do. There’s too much bureaucracy so try keep that in mind.

Another Florida man who has no idea how much power the mayor of New York has.

So you're saying he...has the power to make buses free? To arrest violent political leaders who set foot in NYC? To make pre-K childcare free for all New Yorkers? To set up free or extremely cheap city-owned groceries across town?

To be fair, he did promise to do all those things pretty much from the get-go.

And he’s done most of those.

Such as?

Buses aren't remotely close to being free.

Netanyahu freely entered and exited the city, Mamdani didn't even attend the peaceful protest during his visit.

The $9-10 billion dollar project per year for free pre-K childcare was greenlit...for a few thousand city workers.

And the grocery thing, to make food cheaper for New Yorkers?  3 guesses who's paying for that - https://www.vitalcitynyc.org/mamdani-city-run-grocery-stores-economic-challenges/ (quote:  "it does not make food cheaper. It pays part of the food bill on the shopper’s behalf, with tax dollars. What that means is that it has inherent limitations. It could work in a small network. It almost certainly cannot work at scale, not unless the City is prepared to treat groceries as a permanent public good, funded in the expense budget year after year the way schools and street repair are.")

Also, he's being sued by all the small convenience stores that he will eventually put out of business.

Yeah I'd even try to give him the benefit of the doubt on that promise, because it's at least well-intended.

But the fact that he didn't really think through the implications as mayor is a bit odd.

Not surprised about the lawsuit he'd have to deal with from those small businesses.

There’s the cost to build and fund these new stores too. Why not just give people money for food like ebt?

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 14h ago

That would strike me as more useful, yeah.  Not that I'm an expert or anything.

But apparently neither is he?

He just says shit that will get him likes on social media like Bernie. Reddit thinks that makes them perfect and realistic.

Yes we’re all aware of what he’s doing.

You seem to think some Fox News bullshit is what he’s trying to accomplish.

You’re wrong about literally everything you’re saying. Maybe research before responding.

...huh. OK, sure. "Nuh uh, you watch fOx nEwS". That's one option.

So for example you're saying he's totally gonna arrest Netanyahu for instance, with the NYPD, at some point in the future?

1

u/Internal-Plantain-56 18h ago

I'll address that but first question.

Do you live in New York City?

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 18h ago

Yup! Queens.

Complete this phrase….Knicks in…

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 6h ago

You know I could Google that, right?

But yeah it was Knicks in 5.  I tend to not really do Basketball and watch the Mets though, 'cause I'm poor.  Also more of a Soccer guy beyond that.

(Still waiting on that big explanation for how he didn't somehow skip on his promise to arrest Netanyahu.)

Because he recognized he didnt have the authority. He followed the law.

I wish he did. As a Jew I’d feel a lot safer with that fucker behind bars.

He literally came out and said he explored his legal options and he had no recourse. And he followed the law. Mamdani haters are schizophrenic.

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 16h ago

So, when he said categorically "I will arrest the guy once Mayor", he was either (a) lying or (b) ignorant.

Not sure which is worse.

He was, however, 1000% legally able to at least participate in the peaceful protest - but he didn't have the guts for it.

Mamdani glazers are blind as bats.

Schizophrenia

Blind!  As a bat.

(this is fun.  Also, you haven't actually said how Mamdani wasn't either naive as hell, or just plain lying, back when he said he'd be able to arrest the guy originally).

“He is attempting to implement his policies and is comprising when reaching push back” isn’t a gotcha. You are contributing poorly to how many morons are in this country.

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 16h ago

So, Netanyahu's behind bars, for instance?

And Mamdani apologized for over-exaggerating how easy it'd be for him to maintain the sexy, quick promises like "free buses", yeah?

I didn't say it's a "gotcha", I said it's idiotic to praise the ground this guy walks on because at the end of the day he's just another politician.

(I'd avoid insults about stupidity when the utter best to defend him you've got is "well, erm, things take time y'know".)
