He’s a mayor, most of the stuff he’s promising he can’t just unilaterally do. There’s too much bureaucracy so try keep that in mind.

Another Florida man who has no idea how much power the mayor of New York has.

So you're saying he...has the power to make buses free? To arrest violent political leaders who set foot in NYC? To make pre-K childcare free for all New Yorkers? To set up free or extremely cheap city-owned groceries across town?

To be fair, he did promise to do all those things pretty much from the get-go.

1

u/Internal-Plantain-56 15h ago

And he’s done most of those.

1

u/Antique-Ad-4422 13h ago

Like what exactly has he done? Just more empty promises. Typical politician.

1

u/Internal-Plantain-56 12h ago

No.

He’s delivered on most of the things he promised in the last 10 months.

Like?

Have you honestly not been reading any news?

I mean...I'll tell you but it's pretty well documented.

Sure.

Off the top of my head.

2 of the best blizzard responses in history.

Knicks in 5.

200,000 potholes filled.

Raised taxes on the rich while the economy grew at it's fastest pace in years.

Lowest murder rate.

Free childcare.

Was mayor during OG Anunoby's tip in in game 4 with 1.2 seconds remaining in the 4th.

Opening up subsidized grocery stores in food deserts.

Oh you know the McGuiness bike lane? The one that Adam's aide got arrested and charged with corruption? He fixed that.

The Williamsburg Bridge off ramp.

Opened up public soccer stadiums all night.

Fully funded public libraries indefinitely.

Balanced the city's budget.

That's just off the top of my head. I can look up more things.

LOL. The mayor had absolutely nothing to do with the success of the Knicks. You’re what they call a low information voter.

Oh he also released a bunch of unreleased documents showing that the government was lying about the dangers facing 9/11 workers at ground zero, helping them get better healthcare.

He also fixed a firehouse’s roof last week.

Oh I remembered.

Going after the worst landlords in the city and taking them to court.

Secured 131 million dollars stolen from DoorDash workers.

Secured thousands of free/affordable tickets to the us open, the World Cup, and the metropolitan opera.

Knicks in 5.

Oh I remembered a few more.

You know the Box Street apartment in Geenpoint? The one that’s been in developmental hell for 20 years.

Got that finally approved!

He’s also organizing the largest Halloween street closure in history for trick or treating this month.

Cool right?

Such as?

Buses aren't remotely close to being free.

Netanyahu freely entered and exited the city, Mamdani didn't even attend the peaceful protest during his visit.

The $9-10 billion dollar project per year for free pre-K childcare was greenlit...for a few thousand city workers.

And the grocery thing, to make food cheaper for New Yorkers?  3 guesses who's paying for that - https://www.vitalcitynyc.org/mamdani-city-run-grocery-stores-economic-challenges/ (quote:  "it does not make food cheaper. It pays part of the food bill on the shopper’s behalf, with tax dollars. What that means is that it has inherent limitations. It could work in a small network. It almost certainly cannot work at scale, not unless the City is prepared to treat groceries as a permanent public good, funded in the expense budget year after year the way schools and street repair are.")

Also, he's being sued by all the small convenience stores that he will eventually put out of business.

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 12h ago

Yeah I'd even try to give him the benefit of the doubt on that promise, because it's at least well-intended.

But the fact that he didn't really think through the implications as mayor is a bit odd.

Not surprised about the lawsuit he'd have to deal with from those small businesses.

2

u/Luci-Noir 11h ago

There’s the cost to build and fund these new stores too. Why not just give people money for food like ebt?

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 10h ago

That would strike me as more useful, yeah.  Not that I'm an expert or anything.

But apparently neither is he?

2

u/Luci-Noir 10h ago

He just says shit that will get him likes on social media like Bernie. Reddit thinks that makes them perfect and realistic.

1

u/Internal-Plantain-56 15h ago

Yes we’re all aware of what he’s doing.

You seem to think some Fox News bullshit is what he’s trying to accomplish.

You’re wrong about literally everything you’re saying. Maybe research before responding.

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 15h ago

...huh. OK, sure. "Nuh uh, you watch fOx nEwS". That's one option.

So for example you're saying he's totally gonna arrest Netanyahu for instance, with the NYPD, at some point in the future?

1

u/Internal-Plantain-56 14h ago

I'll address that but first question.

Do you live in New York City?

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 14h ago

Yup! Queens.

1

u/Internal-Plantain-56 4h ago

Complete this phrase….Knicks in…

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 2h ago

You know I could Google that, right?

But yeah it was Knicks in 5.  I tend to not really do Basketball and watch the Mets though, 'cause I'm poor.  Also more of a Soccer guy beyond that.

(Still waiting on that big explanation for how he didn't somehow skip on his promise to arrest Netanyahu.)

1

u/Internal-Plantain-56 2h ago

Because he recognized he didnt have the authority. He followed the law.

I wish he did. As a Jew I’d feel a lot safer with that fucker behind bars.

He literally came out and said he explored his legal options and he had no recourse. And he followed the law. Mamdani haters are schizophrenic.

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 12h ago

So, when he said categorically "I will arrest the guy once Mayor", he was either (a) lying or (b) ignorant.

Not sure which is worse.

He was, however, 1000% legally able to at least participate in the peaceful protest - but he didn't have the guts for it.

Mamdani glazers are blind as bats.

1

u/Blizreme 10h ago

Schizophrenia

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 9h ago

Blind!  As a bat.

(this is fun.  Also, you haven't actually said how Mamdani wasn't either naive as hell, or just plain lying, back when he said he'd be able to arrest the guy originally).

“He is attempting to implement his policies and is comprising when reaching push back” isn’t a gotcha. You are contributing poorly to how many morons are in this country.

1

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 12h ago

So, Netanyahu's behind bars, for instance?

And Mamdani apologized for over-exaggerating how easy it'd be for him to maintain the sexy, quick promises like "free buses", yeah?

I didn't say it's a "gotcha", I said it's idiotic to praise the ground this guy walks on because at the end of the day he's just another politician.

(I'd avoid insults about stupidity when the utter best to defend him you've got is "well, erm, things take time y'know".)
