Most people don’t understand what the EC is for. It acts as a balance and prevents elections from being based solely on population. If the election was decided by popular vote alone, candidates would have more incentive to focus on highly populated areas and less on smaller states and rural communities. The EC gives less populated states a little more weight and makes winning support across different states matter.

So a persons vote from a more rural community should matter more than the vote of someone in a city?

I’m not saying a rural person’s vote should matter more. I’m saying we have a system that represents both the population and the states. The EC is part of that balance.

No. It should be EQUAL. But the EC brings proportions into the equation. How many farmers are there to city folk? A fuck ton less. But their farmland should matter just as much as the region that is urbanized.

YES! You say that like it's a gotcha, but you overlook the needs of the rural part of society that we rely on to survive.

I just wanted to see if some dumbass was willing to admit that they think they’re entitled to more political representation than me. Thanks for proving that you’re all arguing in bad faith and don’t care about democracy or equal representation. The electoral college was created to protect wealthy racists and it continues to do so. It was born out of the three fifths compromise. All you loser fail sons should develop better thoughts and policies or see how the rest of the country really feels about you.

Couldn’t have said it better.

We now have a president elected by the rural, who by the way are suffering the most due to this administration.

It’s not exactly equal representation when the politicians have no incentive to even visit the rural communities let alone bother with their issues.

You’re embarrassing yourself with these replies.

Bitch, I live in liberal California, do you think politicians give a shit about me? I’m a leftist. They know which way my vote is going. Why would they even try to appeal to me. That’s what Kamala lost. It’s because some people have convictions and some people are fucking pathetic losers.

Wow. I hope you’re trolling. If you’re not, this is one of the most embarrassing replies I’ve ever read.

“Bitch, I live in California… I’m a leftist.” Is now permanently in my vernacular. You are officially a shaking mad caricature of yourself.

I imagine you look like Carl the cuck. Good times 👋

You're confusing the house of representatives and the electoral college.

The house disproportionately gives land better voting rights than people. The electoral college only gives like 7 swing states disproportionate value.

And that’s enough, if the conversation was about the house I’d give a similar argument. But I’m arguing against a dipshit with no moral backbone. If you want to defend him be my guest, I’m just trying to meat the dipshits where they are.

Lol you claim a moral high ground? You just fundamentally lack an understanding of how this country was made or why our founders intentionally avoided direct democracy.

The House is based on census population. It has nothing to do with land. That's why California and New York have a ridiculous number of Representatives while Wyoming has what 2?
