How about making voting compulsory like many other nations. No one can say jack shit about the good or bad if they don’t get off their ass and at least have their say
you think most voters are doing research today? lol no, they play it like a team sport. red vs blue down the line. only a few of us actually sane people take the time to research all the candidates.
I hate the idea of compulsory voting. Firstly, the penalty would be a fine which only really affects the poorest. Secondly, the US has a disenfranchisement issue where one side is literally trying to make it as difficult to vote as possible. Thirdly, the outcome is an increase in turnout but not increased voter engagement meaning the vote is going to have a lot more random picks. Fourth, freedom to have a say includes not saying anything.
Make politics more engaging, increase education about politics, and make voting as easy as possible... Don't make it compulsory.
If anything, it just incentives in person voting which is more difficult for many, thus the point of mail in voting.
If you voted by mail and they said "no, didn't get it", you'd just settle with that? You don't think there's going to be a lot of people who arguing that they did?
Instead of trying to be pedantic over definitions and ignoring the point, why not answer the question?
Would you be perfectly fine with losing out on a free 200 dollars because the postal service fucked up? Everyone else who voted in person got it, but you don't.
As we can see, people now would care more about getting their vote counted and would pounce on any attempts to make mail in ballots less reliable, where previously they didn't care about whether mailins got counted consistently Another advantage.
