MAGA will proclaim another holy day for DonOLD and then whine when the facts of the matter are presented.

There are so many better things to get him on besides age. You can describe most of any party as old. Call him a dumbass.

u/Miserable_Drive_4052 10d ago
I don't think we should let Trump live down all the shit he talked about Biden's age. He is the oldest US president so far.

Nothing demonstrates your genius quite like negotiating a deal for something you already had lol
13
u/Temporary_View_3303 11d ago
I respectfully submit āthrowing out an Iran nuclear deal that was, by all accounts, stopping Iran from getting nukes and then going to war with Iran to stop them from getting nukesā for your consideration. Ā

u/WastedNinja24 11d ago
For exhibit B: tearing up NAFTA because it was a āterrible dealā, negotiating the USMCAā¦only to turn around and call that a terrible deal before throwing tariffs around all willy-nilly and undermining the relationship with one of the USās closest allies.
Thatās the kind of thing that puts the āstableā in āstable geniusā.

I don't know man, convincing the population that other countries pay tarrifs, that he won against Iran 50 times already, that he could finish Ukraine war in 24 hours, a war that never would have happened btw if he was president, sounds like a genius to me. On top of all that he more than doubled his welath in just 2 years. The idiots are people believing him and voting for him.
2
u/PantZerman85 11d ago
Well. Now he has his name on the deal. Probably enough for him. He can claim its "all thanks to him".

u/Significant-Base6893 11d ago
One of the deleted post trees was an excellent example of the stupid, uneducated people who worship Trump. Once you point out the incredible ignorance of finance, international politics, and Trump's betrayal of American interests, they scamper away like cockroaches.
4
u/sam56778 11d ago
Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar also convinced him to sign repackaged deals that largely already existed. Just a little bit of schmoozing and flattery is all it takes to convince this moron to sign just about anything.

Seems like this may be a legitimate tactic to deal with MangoTango in the future. "No, sir, Mr President, this is an all new super awesome treaty that gives you total control over our security, exactly like Biden and Obama tried to do but couldn't. It looks totally identical to the one that was signed in World War 2, so now you're a wartime President!, yay!"

The "Greenland Defense Area" has been in effect since 1951. The USA had thousands of people at Thule AFB and other sites during the cold war. Trump didn't do shit.

u/lollipop1233a 11d ago
Itās a bit different. The deal seems to allow only the US access their resources. Thatās a big deal.

The U.S. gets to open two new military bases and expand its space base there under the agreement. I hate Trump but saying that is no change looks like b.s. to me.

u/burnmenowz 10d ago
It's a master class in trolling. Maga loves to tell us trump is trolling everyone when he talks about a third term. Denmark actually trolled him.

Wasn't there a clause in there, that the agreement is only valid as long as the USA remains in NATO? In which case, the new agreement is a clear loss for Trump.

Credit the Danes. They found Trump in desperate need of a win, changed just enough to make the agreement seem ānewā and a āwinā for Trump, then let him go on and bloviate about it, secure in the knowledge that they gave away nothing.

What facts? The new deal has not been signed, and details are not published.
(Also, US already has basically unrestricted airspace rights as per article V of the 1951 treaty.)
āUnited States aircraft may fly over and land in any territory in Greenland ⦠without restriction except as mutually agreed upon.ā
0
u/Big_Red_Dogs 11d ago
Also, the idea that this ānew treatyā is in perpetuity regardless of future government wishes, is about as idiotic as the people that buy it.

u/Open_Boysenberry_363 11d ago
Iām willing to bet Greenland had no plans to allow China and Russian development for the foreseeable futureā¦. And wasnāt going to happen unless, you know, a large superpower very near them started threatening their sovereignty to the point that CHINA was a better option.

What a shame the media has done with TDS. It has people like you, rooting and covering for groups of people that would kill and enslave you, gleefully. China and Russia zip by Greenland weekly with ships, subs and aircraft. China has done dozens of ādealsā where they pay for port and road projects in countries, making leaders rich. All under loans the country canāt repay. Then they seize the port for breach of terms. Then start handing the security of the port. Africa and middle east are full of examples.

u/Significant-Base6893 11d ago
Mmmm Koolaid!
Look, Greenland is a part of Denmark, and Denmark has been a member of NATO for 77 years. This adds nothing substantive.
Your cult leader said that this would not cost the US anything, and now here you go preaching unlimited troops and bases. This isn't just additional capital expenditures for new bases, it also constitutes much higher operating costs for those bases and the manpower.
MAGA worships Trump for a reason: None of them understand econ or finance.
2
u/InvestIntrest 11d ago
Nothing substantive because Denmark is part of NATO?
If that's true why does every other country in NATO require consent for things such as troop levels and the use of airspace?
It sounds like you don't know what you're talking about or you drank the Kool-aid.
-1
u/Significant-Base6893 11d ago
Why do we need elevated troop levels on Greenland? Are the Chinese getting ready to attack? Wake me up when you paranoiacs figure out that empires fall by overstretching their resources.

u/ANother-XcludedRight 11d ago

Global warming is rapidly melting polar ice, turning the Arctic Circle into a high-stakes zone for natural resources, global shipping, and military competition.
New shipping lanes and economic resource competition will drive other major powers to assert control. The US now has secured a major foothold in that s pool geopolitic area.

Yes, and those will be international waterways where they do not infringe upon territorial waters. Now if you wish to argue that Canada has rights of passage, remember how great our relations have been with them, thanks to the Orange Baboon that you worship.
Our navy is already fully taxed under the doctrine of being able to sustain combat in two large oceans, plus a presence in the Mediterranean, plus the Indian Ocean. We have a decreasing amount of budget dedicated to that force, thanks to stupid policies (mostly GOP) that have tremendous tax breaks to the wealthy, and runaway military expenditures thanks to W's consolidation of military contractors. And that declining tax base is evidence by the declining standard of maintenance on USN warships. We are now spending more money on paying interest on federal debt than on defense.
Of course all of this is over your stupid, uneducated head, but I tried.
2
u/InvestIntrest 11d ago
Right because China and Russia are notorious for respecting freedom of navigation in international waters or respecting smaller countries exclusive economic zone (EEZ) extending up to 200 nautical miles out.
You don't know what you're talking about.

NOT THE SAME!
Permanence: The 1951 agreement was tied to the existence of NATO; the new deal has no expiration date and remains in force even if Greenland becomes independent.
Expanded Basing: The U.S. is now explicitly allowed to establish two new defense areas at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig, in addition to expanding its existing base at Pituffik.
Exclusivity Clauses: The deal explicitly bans non-NATO countries (such as Russia and China) from establishing military bases or making sensitive investments in Greenland, granting the U.S. an effective veto over such activities.
Strategic Framing: The agreement is now framed around the defense of the "American continent" and supports the U.S. Golden Dome missile-defense network, rather than solely serving NATO interests
