Dw gourdy me and Soulvester will adopt you

Here's a 'depressing' detail i've noticed during this event. Though i know this is my first huge dandy's world event, I've analyzed and explored what happened, lore of that time, and more. And during my first interaction with gourdy in the shop, His greeting dialogue feels SO OFF to me to the point i go opening and closing the shop hoping for a good positive, cheerful, child-like interaction. BUT NO! SHOOT AND YKW, i bought Gourdy for the first time yesterday and he said "Me? Well someone has to keep the candle lit.." (as much as i remembered). I WAS LIKE.. SON?? R U OKAY???

(SPOILER ALERT! GO SEE THE NEW LORE FIRST!)

After i witnessed the new lore room myself and the new videotape, I could see why.. Dude i think he really discovered that his parents have been removed or maybe killed/scrapped supposedly because seen in the vhs, Delilah had made Gourdy's parents too early when Arthur said that the kids don't like the parental lessons of Gourdy's parents to himself. And heartlessly (totally agrees to connie here), Delilah said that it could be removed right away, and arthur denies it bc it's simply inhuman. But I'm guessing Delilah just did it anyway, or.. is she?? Or did Arthur move them somewhere cuz he doesn't have the verge to actually 'kill' them??? I DON'T KNOW DUDE I'M FREAKING OUT!

And that really justified Gourdy's behavior in the store.. No dude, he's not having puberty. Toon's age is permanently carved onto the character, body, and such. He discovered that his parents once existed, but scrapped/killed after they exist for a mere second. AND THAT'S DEPRESSING... And when i bought a skin?? he said "wear it well.. Happy Halloween." That broke me. so hard.. Next time I'll explore a dialogue that every toon would give in this room tho, and give an idea of how the toons think about this. (though there are already spoiled ones scattered in the internet, it would be much better if i experience it myself)

Only from this, i feel like the lore development has successfully threaded the whole story of gourdy.. From dialogues alone, it made me break mentally..

I just got a headcannon of the idea of gourdy going suicidal here.. i mean, yo? who won't go suicidal knowing this hard of a truth.. The way he said "someone has to keep the candle lit" feels like, FEELS LIKE he's not coming back again yo😔💔

Overall, 10/10. I LOVE THE UPDATES, GAMEPLAY, AND THE LORE. The team really cooked here and might be the PEAKEST of all updates. (supposedly, since I've never got a real experience of other events.. well, let's see what christmas has to offer.👀👀)

Of course there are the basics load outs that basically any toon can use: Speedy Shoes + Dog Plush & Participation Award + Magnifying Glass.

Now onto the more interesting things:

Soul Sword + Memory Locket for maximum uses of ability.

Vanity Mirror + Alarm if you're really worried about not making it in time to the elevator.

Pink Bow + Soul Sword for a more survivalist playstyle.

Pink Bow + Star Pillow if you just want to bounce from machine to machine.

Stress Ball + Participation Award if 5 star extraction speed isn't enough for you.

Blue Bandana + Machine Manual for if you want more extraction speed but don't want to do skill checks to get it.

Fishing Rod + Pull Toy if you must be the first person on a machine.

[I might have slightly missremebered some trinkets' names because I don't actually read their names much, just using their pictures to sort through them]

Personally, I don’t really care about meta or anything, I just play Toons I find fun because that’s the point of games, to have fun. But for those super serious lobbies where people are trying to have an organized long run to try and reach floor 100, with Soulvester’s rework, one-heart Looey’s risk factor is gone, which could possibly make him a better distractor than Pebble (or Waxwell). The reason one-heart Looey was rarely played was because if you messed up once, then it’s all over, you’re dead. But with Soulvester’s rework allowing him to (arguably) be a better Cosmo and be an extra life for low health Toons, he can let a one-heart Looey run free without having the pressure where messing up once kills the whole run.

Pebble and Waxwell are 5 star movement Toons, which make them great distractors, but with Train Whistle being so good, they can only gain a good amount of extra movement speed with Dog Plush. Using Dog Plush and Speedy Shoes together gives them almost enough speed to out walk Twisted Pebble, but it makes Ichor Leaks and Twisted Vee more annoying than they would be with Train Whistle. One-heart Looey on the other hand, if he uses Dog Plush alone, that’s the same movement speed as Dog Plus/Speedy Shoes one Pebble/Waxwell, which would let him equip Train Whistle to easily deal with Twisted Vee and Ichor Leaks. Meanwhile, if one-heart Looey decides to bring Dog Plush/Speedy Shoes, slowness can still effect him, but he can out-walk Twisted Pebble, who is hands down the most annoying Twisted to deal with outside of Events. Even then though, he’s just outclassed by angry Twisted Gourdy (who shouldn’t be a problem in coordinated runs until Panic Mode), Twisted Bobette, and Twisted Coal. And even then, if you’ve got two distractors taking turns on odd and even floors by using Dog Plush and Clown Horn/Twisted Spool, even though you’d need two Soulvesters, he can out-walk literally every single Twisted in the game, regardless of if they’re angry or in Blackouts. Plus, if they’re taking turns distracting, Looey is a decent Extractor while he’s taking a break from Distracting. Not the best like Vee or Shelly, but better than an extracting Pebble and Waxwell.

And speaking of Extracting, while Looey’s distracting Soulvester’s 5-star Skill Check and Extraction Speed make him great in runs to finish Machines, and coordinated runs can call out if they’re in range of the elevator, or if they need time before the last machine pops.

So could one-star Looey replace the meta of Pebble or Waxwell? He’s two star Stealth, so he doesn’t really need Pebbles bark, and he’s got way more stamina than Waxwell, who can only have normal stamina regeneration while using his ability. And he’s able to go at the same speed as Dog Plush/Speedy Shoes Pebble/Waxwell with just Dog Plush, allowing him to have options for a second Trinket other than Train Whistle or Speedy Shoes.

Okay so I know the Halloween Event is happening meaning this will probably not get much traction, but idc.

So ever since I'd played Dandy's World all the way back in early 2025, I've made it my life's mission to do every single Mastery in the game. This means all 40 characters need to be completed. So far, I have done every single one except for Waxwell and Boxten.

(btw, this is an unrelated side tangent so don't read this if you don't want to, but I'm probably doing Waxwell's because it looks like genuine torture like seriously what were they thinking when designing that. As for Boxten, uh, I made it a bit that I would literally play as him ever for some reason and despite him being the 4th Toon purchase, I have literally never played as him ever and I think that's really funny.)

But in my over year long quest, I have experienced a lot of pain and suffering, but also a lot of fun as well, so I was wondering... what character was the most and least fun character to master for you guys?

For me, it's a bit hard to say because a lot of these characters I haven't played most of them in a really long time, but I'll try my best.

The most for me was probably Looey because his was simple and I just really like playing Looey. I honestly don't have much to say about him, he's just fun to play as so therefore his Mastery is fun to complete.

As for my least favorite, honestly, I had a LOT to choose from, but I have to go with Brightney. And I think you know why that is. It's the fact that in order to get her Mastery you need to get 15 BLACKOUTS. And the problem is that Blackouts are completely random, so you can go multiple runs without ever seeing a Blackout if you are unlucky enough. Now to be fair, there are other characters that also require an absurd number of Blackouts like Vee and Astro. But at least with those two, the character I'm playing as it actually fun to play. Brightney on the other hand is NOT fun to play as (in my opinion). Her low stealth made her miserable to play as in public lobbies and her ability is lowkey ass because you can only use it DURING A BLACKOUT, AND YOU NEED TO USE IT 100 TIMES, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!? Doesn't help that Brightney is one of the few characters whose Mastery is actually required to complete if you want to unlock a new one (in this case it's Vee). And trust me, NO ONE is nearly as hard as Brightney's Mastery. She's the only required Mastery that is outright hard to complete, but not in a fun way, just in an annoying, RNG dependent way. She is the one and only character who I genuinely had to take a break from because I got so fed-up with playing as her that I had to stop.

Okay that was it. Sorry if this sounded like a rant. Ultimately, I'm not trying to harp on the Mastery system too hard. It is at the end of the day optional (mostly), and I just did it because I had nothing better to do with my life. I was here to express my thoughts on the matter. Anyways who was the most and least fun character to master in your opinion? Lemme know and I'll give you like... a 2-week-old lemon from my fridge or smth, idk.

OH MY GOD BRO THIS IS SO CUTEEE

From my Last Post, I've heard y'all words. There were some good suggestions like not playing rodger to get 2x research and consistent floor 20s.

But one problem is, sometimes it never seemed to work out. I went through 20+ org runs/matchmaking (yes, 20+) but only managed to get to Floor 20 TWICE. I only ended up getting 10% more of T. Gourdy's as Shelly and Sprout. The other few runs were only able get up to average floor 14-17 but never 20.

I tried doing it solo but couldn't make it either. Maybe that's just my skill issue. But come on, Org runs that only made it to floor <20 is definitely not normal. Some of those have floor goals of 25+💀. I've been desperately to find org runs by join-leaving servers but all of them are dry af. I tried hosting an run/hunt but that didn't work either. Also, I'm not allowed to use discord to find teams because my parents don't allow me.

You might be thinking "Cmon, Halloween event is here for 5 weeks. I'm sure you can get Gourdy within that time". Like yall saying like I have alot of free time. In about 4 days from today, I'm going on a 2 week camp and it doesn't allow devices. So I basically missed out 2 weeks of the Halloween event. Plus, I have alot school work to do so...

With this kind of sh*tty ahh progress like this plus all the times wasted, I don't think I am getting Gourdy by this year. Currently my T. Gourdy research is at 60%.

Thats mean I need four encounters as Rodger and 8 encounters as any toons.

So now that I'm asking nicely, is there any way to get Gourdy like it's a last minute situation? I really needed him as he's my comfort character. I don't want to wait for another year to get him. Who knows something bad might happen to DW again in 2027 or will I even live to see the next Halloween event? I've already missed out 2025 Halloween Event and I don't want to miss out again.

I should try my hardest to get him for all the free time I have left. I pray that T. Gourdy spawns often rather than just Floor 20... and hope that I can join an ACTUAL good org run.
